  • I am back with a new Mercedes project car! I have a few more things I want to do with the Mercedes W212 E550, but this was a deal that was too good to pass up. This 2000 Mercedes S430 W220 retailed for $78,000 when new, I picked it up in running but not driving condition for just $500!
    This 2000 Mercedes S430 W220 has been sitting in a garage for the past three years due to a blown airmatic suspension system. Once we actually got the car started it runs amazing, it just has some serious issues with the driving part. I only needed to get the car about 2 miles down the road to my garage so I could work on it, but between the wheels rubbing the wheel wells and the side skirts scrubbing the ground, it just wasn't going to happen.
    Stay tuned for Part II where I actually get this thing into driving condition and take it on it's first drive in 3 years!

    When someone owns a PT Cruiser (TODAY... not 15 years ago) you know there is a combination of deep passion & poor judgment!

      haha this was more of a situation of helping someone out by taking a car off their hands, but yeah, the PT is pretty terrible. They have since upgraded to a nice VW.

      I had my purple PT for a decade and it was fantastic. It never gave me any problems and I hauled a ton of stuff in it over the years. A bathtub, a washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc. Very practical. My only complaint with it was the horrible turning radius. It didn't have the best road feel either, but it wasn't a German SUV and it didn't cost very much. I bought a loaded lease return and it was a great deal.

    Unfortunate it can't be driven like that, those 220's look so dope that low! Nice find. It's already clean body black, I'd go all the way and murder this one out, keeping the mono's.

      Yeah it does look pretty sinister lowered like it was. Looks like a boat at stock ride height.

    $500 ain’t bad, I used to drive a 2005 S430 until it started giving a ton of issues, electrical and suspension mainly

      This one seems to be pretty well sorted other than the suspension so far. It has 162k miles on it, so should be alright for awhile I think. I'll be doing a follow up video with all the things wrong with it and my plans for it.

      Haha, I believe his wife had plans to park her new car in the garage. She is the one who sold me the Mercedes, had just about had it with it taking up all the space!

      @@bucksgarage ah that makes sense! Was that either his or her daily driver at one point? or did they get it with plans to fix it up and it just never happened?

    • @bucksgarage
      @bucksgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a daily for them for a few years. They replaced 3 out of the four air struts, and did some other routine stuff to it. They were tired of fighting with the air suspension system, it can get expensive if you have a shop doing the work. So when it died again and made the car unusable, they had had enough of it. They said either I take it or the junk yard gets it, it is in way too nice of condition to get junked, so here we are.

    Can't go wrong for $500. You could part it out and make quite a bit more.

    • @bucksgarage

      Thought about parting it out after the wreck, but the insurance payout was really good and I was in the process of moving so it was easier to just let it go.
