Wow, that is a pretty impressive 0-100 kmh performance for a 23 year old car with a naturally-aspirated V8. The speedometer accuracy is impressive too. It's only the wind noise that might be caused by worn door or window seals that lets it down slightly. Very impressive car indeed.
And when you think about all the hate and unlove w220 is regarded ...ok, maybe interior quality and rust protection is not the best, but mechanically this was and is a proper Benz! Thank you guys for giving us such a delight!

I remember reading when I was a kid around when this car was released how the S class was piloting tech that will be standard in 20 years. Id say thats pretty accurate. The dash feels modern.
The speedo is also very accurate. Only a few km/h difference. That's impressive after all these years.

a few years ago I had a w220 s500 4 matic. Engine, transmission and driving comfort - the highest level. The only problem was the suspension (it liked to play tricks) and metal sheets. Contrary to appearances, it is not a very expensive car to maintain

I had an opportunity to buy one of these a few months ago for 1500$ CAD. It was a friend's father's car that sat for many years and had a faulty airmatic module. I would have loved to take it on if I had time/funds to get her going, unfortunately it got sent for scrap as they were moving their business and needed it gone. Cool to see some older and less powerful stuff once in a while. You gotta appreciate the speeds it can hit with under 300hp

Mercedes claims that this car can achieve a claimed top speed to 250 kmh and Max managed to achieve a verified GPS top speed of 250 kmh which is a terrific achievement for a car which is 23 years old.
I believe it's electronically limited and could technically do slightly more

Nah....I've got an S430 and it sounds the same. The 5L M113 is a tad more grunty
Remembering driving a s430 as student chauffeur. The client choose the s430 over the s500 because the latter still hat the old '500' engine. I remember it as a very silent and fast vehicle. King of the road.

The W220 is probably the most unreliable S-class generation that there was.

That's BS. There was a significant rust problem and poor interior materials but engine and transmission were bulletproof. I've also never occured any electrical problems or with airmatic. It's just a solid, reliable and very comfy car to drive. I'm very doubtful a W223 will last over 20 years.
Не едет а летит над дорогой. Очень нравится подвеска. Дизайн больше нравится s221 и 140. Но как он едет ему это можно простить. Вот новые s222 и 223 уже не то. Из новых ауди а8 номер один. Мерседес отдыхает. Ауди а8 едет уверенней на скоростях за 200. И аэродинамика получше будет. Нет такого шума.

У меня s430 USA американец. Упирается в отметку 210. Работает ограничитель. Но у меня на 210 около 6 тыс. Оборотов. И если я сниму ограничитель, то думаю 220 пойдёт и упрется в отсечку. Передачи не хватит . У меня 5ти ступка вроде. 99 год. Кто знает, объясните пожалуйста.
