Here we go with Part II of rescuing the cheapest Mercedes S-Class in the USA! not commenting on your work, it is excellent, just all the steps.
@@randychaffin2422 Haha no worries. Was definitely some work, but totally worth it!
So where is the relay in the fuse box for the compressor?
How is this car after 2 years? Just bought one and I have a similar issue
Sadly my ownership was short lived. A few weeks after I posted this video, someone pulled out in front of me and the Mercedes was totaled. Wish I had more time with the car, I was really enjoying it and had some plans to fix it up.
So would this wheel be a direct swap on 2014-15 W212’s without changing the switch gear?
Yes I believe it should be. My switch gear is from a 2015 W212 so the wheel should be a direct swap to a car that already has the updated switch gear.
looks nice.. Just curious if you did a MPG comparison with the old wheels set up and new set up? Have you lost some MPG?
Not really enough to notice. It is just a tad more sluggish off the line to get the bigger tires moving, but once moving I don't notice much difference.
@@bucksgarage Thanks for the comment. I have a 2014 E250 Bluetec (diesel) so my car is already sluggish off the line, maybe going from 17" wheels to 19" or 20" might not be a good idea, although I'd like some nicer wheels on it (17" just too small I think).
@@abel8727 17 is pretty small. Stock on my car was 18", there are a lot of OEM Merc wheels out there on the used market. Maybe an OEM 18 would give a look you like better without hurting the performance.
Hello Dear Aaron, Thank you for your tutorial; it's very enriching. I would love to know your opinion on the best CarPlay system for the Mercedes W212-the one that best preserves the original functions while efficiently adding Apple CarPlay. Thank you. Best regards,
The problem is the drain outlet gets clogged with debris, at the 4:15 mark you can see a blue mark on the drain opening. If you let this get plugged up the water level overflows into the the air vent and leaks inside. There is just a rubber flap that acts like a one way valve to stop air from entering but will let water run outside. If you keep that drain clear that will solve your problem and you won't need to disassembly anything, simple fix.
Dont forget to take the rubber floor plug out from under the car on the rear floor board
Can you tell me exactly where that is located?
@@JoseVazquez-qp1zm Open your back door or both back doors and under the middle of the floor boards underneath the car you have a round rubber plug. I got mine out with my finger or lay down and have a screwdriver ready. But if you drive through higher water put them back in after you drain your floor boards. If a person doesnt take those drain plugs out after water leaks on their floor boards they will rust through
I just notice you have headlight washer……. Since you changed the steering column that’s from facelift and facelift doesn’t come with headlight washer, did you try if headlights washer still works? Thanks!
My car doesn't have headlight washers. All of the bumpers have the cut out for them, but no washers on my car, just the covers on the bumper.
@@bucksgarage that’s strange to have bumper cutout for washer but no washer. Anyway, do you think washer can be triggered via facelift steering column? I’m thinking of upgrading one. Thanks!
Rims not a like, it's a man thing probable i got a E350
nice color car
I was looking to retrofit gle column. It sounds like it doesn’t work?
No that won't work. I bought a column off ebay that ended up being from a GLE and it didn't work, the car threw all kinds of errors and wouldn't start. Had to get one specific to the E-class.
@@bucksgaragedid you figure out why lane keep assist (vibration) didn’t work?
@@santagautam115 Nope, for some reason it just won't talk to the new steering wheel for that function, everything else works fine. Heard from others that they had the same issue.
@@bucksgarage okay got it. Thanks! The column you have is from facelift right? Why did you get that? Doesn’t the one you had on your car sync with that steering wheel?
e350 owner here, what kinda headlights do u have on ur 550
Just the stock HIDs
Is this car a good daily? How is reliability on this car?
Been great for me. I bought it with 95k miles on it and it needed new struts/shocks all around. Did that, and now it has 135k on it and no real issues. I did have a turbo pressure valve go bad, but it was a $15 part and a 2 minute fix.
Hey bucks i have a 2010 550 4 matic. When you lowed the car did you have to adjust anything with the headlight elevation?
I also am going to 20s not going staged. I was wondering if you think a 43 offset is enough?
My car is still at stock height, no lowering done. You can lower the front a bit by bending the ride height sensors down a little. I was happy with the look of the 20's at stock height so I haven't messed with it.
Did that unit have built in wireless?
Yes, the CarPlay is wireless.
Dude, the engine bay needs a severe cleaning.
Do yourself and your merc a huge favor, and DON'T tune it! Tuning your car can often lead to multiple issues.
Is there a Link for the tune for this car?
No tune yet at this point. Have heard good things about the Renntech tune but it is spendy, there are lots of options out there, but I haven't done any tuning yet.
Looks fantastic as installed Tire shine time I know I know the vid is 3 years old…..
Thanks for watching, times flies!
what about the level sensor?
Barn find? In what year you living 2080?
Guess I’m crazy as I think it looked better with the 18s. Good info though.
Great video bro! Question would a 275/35/20 work in the back? I currently have a set up of 245/35/20 in the the front and the 275/3020 but there is a bit of a gap in the back.. The front sits perfectly! So I figured I would raise the sidewall diameter to fill up the gap.. I have a 2017 E300 ..4matic .. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated
That would be 3% or 0.8" difference in tire diameter. Might be fine with the 4Matic, might not be. Personally, I'd prefer to be closer in diameter to make sure there are no issues with the 4Matic.
I bought a 2012 E550 Coupe in October, 2011, and I still have it. In the summer of 2012 I took it on a road trip from Ontario to Saskatchewan and back (5,406 km or 3,359 mi). I got 7.7 km/100km, which, converted from the incomprehensible to the sensible, is just over 30 miles per U.S. gallon. Power, luxury and economy in one fine package. That said, I've just ordered a Renntech ECU upgrade (ECU:54.207.E550BT) which purportedly yields 540HP and 705 lbs-ft of torque. Can't wait to see how that goes (pun intended).
Let us know how the tune works out!
@@bucksgarage Just installed it this morning. Holy s**t! In casual driving, there's little difference other than throttle tip-in and general feel seem to be even smoother than stock, surprisingly. But, wow, stab the accelerator and hang on! Pulls like the world's quickest freight train. As the old ad phrase goes: "Try it. You'll like it." Or in my case, love it. Renntech's claimed numbers, which I now believe completely, are: Factory Claim Stock: 402HP and 443 ft-lbs Actual Tested Stock: 435HP and 508 ft-lbs Renntech's Upgrade: 540HP and 705 ft-lbs Not inexpensive, but worth every penny and more! I am one very happy camper. 😁👍
@@portaltwo Awesome! I need new motor mounts and need to address an oil leak. But once everything is back in good shape, the tune is next on my list!
@@portaltwo Just saw the Renntech is $2,500, what made you go with that over some of the cheaper tune options?
@@bucksgarage Reputation, primarily. Hartmut Feyhl was 12 years with AMG before starting this company and by all accounts Renntech still has a semi-official working relationship with both AMG and Mercedes-Benz. I read many reviews and testimonials and they are almost universally good. I can understand anyone on a tight budget balking at the premium price, but hey, these are premium vehicles. Personally, while price always matters of course, I'm willing (within reason) to pay extra for proven quality and reliability. Now that I've tried it myself, I can vouch for the results. As to whether the cost-benefit equation makes sense, that's up to each individual. I'll be interested to see what product you end up choosing and how it works out!
Tune it!! 😂.Your gonna kick yourself in the ass for waiting so long!
I know! Unfortunately it needs motor mounts right now so it definitely doesn't need more power until I get that fixed.
Hey, looking at options to retrofit something to my A207 Convertible. I had bad experiences with the mic quality on a similar solution on a BMW (people hearing me bad over calls / reverb). Is this an issue here? Best regards Jacob
Nope, no issues with call quality. It uses the OEM mic for the phone calls so sounds the same as when I was using the OEM BT setup.
@@bucksgarage love it that you are still replying here!
@@jacobvogeley2621 Wish I had more time to get back to making videos. Maybe one of these days!
Which connection wasn't seated properly
I didn't have the compressor pigtail in all the way. Clicked it in the last bit and it worked fine.
Any current updates to your RAM?
If all rises beside the passenger front, what would be my issue?
The gasket is just a strip of foam. Cut another strip and glue it in place with trim adhesive.
Great job
I just biught that same car last week😂😂 why didn't anyone tell me😢😢
Thank you for the great advice and information, so should be about the same for a 2012 CLS550 right? Thank you

What steering wheel is that?
Check out my channel, I have a full video on the steering wheel and how to do the upgrade.
My dad has a Lincoln town car and had the same issue. The water has saturated his carpet a few different times. Is it easy to replace the carpet?

Just bought a clean w220 body style and I love it!!!
It’s not 2003, what’s with the music?
If I buy this, can I just put the address in on maps on my phone and it automatically puts it on the screen or do you i have to use the wheel to type in stuff
Yep, you just use the maps app in your phone to input everything and it comes up on the screen automatically, no need to search with the wheel. Or you can just ask Siri to do it for you with the speech button on the steering wheel.
@@bucksgarage brilliant, thanks for the hasty reply. Think I’ll pull the trigger on this now as I was worried about having to type without a touchscreen.

Dont u need to tune ur transmission or something so that ur gears dont feel crooked, I’ve heard that when u install bigger wheels u need to do some kind of ecu thingie so ur upshift and dont shift dont feel crooked or tough gearshifts.
Haven't had any issues with shifting. It does sit a small amount lower in the RPM at a given speed, but not enough to make much difference.
