I like seeing this episode after you had perfected the connection with only a soft chackle! I'm definitely going to feel out the single chackle. Planning on getting 2 60m linked soon!
Just few days ago I got a great feeling of flying 12mm shackle into my big toe from trickline tensioned 1inch webbing... Still feels great... a bit bloody. Connected few short pieces of cut webbings to practice forbmy latest clothes line video. :) Thanks for videos!
Wondering what you prefer for leash rings now on the split setup? I find, like here, my medium rings are a pain to pass and i really don't want to have to lug around a couple heavy bomber rings.
I have thought about making the connection with a Bgb'z knot, which means it physically cannot come open. Also replacing all that tape with a big tubular webbing you slide to ones side before connecting, and back onto the whole thing after connecting .
So my personal preference of line is Mantra MK4 from BC and I was wondering how you would rig this using the two loops that they include in their sewn loops? In this video there was just lines with one sewn loop on the end of the line and not 2. Would I just use the slack inov split on the loop on the end of my piece of mantra and just leave the other ones to dangle or what. What would you recommend?
I also have the double loop on some of my pieces. It has a place but it isn't critical whatsoever anymore, more of a rigging style/preference when you use them. When you do the Inov Split, I just bend the back and tape them to the line so they are out of the way. In theory you could incorporate them into the backup connector and avoid doing the Inov Split all together but I didn't like how clustery it got (see my example in the first Inov Split episode). So just tape them out of the way.
Thanks! Say we're rigging a tighter highline for some bounce tricks. Do you still feel comfortable about the connection point on a 70m-90m with big bounces and whips? I feel like its good enough, just curious on your thoughts. Also i have 2 100m sections of webbing, you sounded skeptical of 100m sections in a highline. What do you thinkof 1- 100m section and the rest 50m in a 300m highline?
If you have 100 meter sections, don't cut them. Other companies are thinking of offering 60 meter sections. As long as you have 2 of the same length it is fine. I may have 1 - 30 meter and 1 60 meter set for the odd size lines that i don't want a connection interfering with tensioning. I feel comfortable with these connections regardless tight or loose lines. Normally tight lines start higher but have almost the same peak force during a whip vs a loose line with a whip. You'll never get more than 6 to 7kn out of a highline unless you are doing 2" trickline stuff. These connections are holding at full loop strength.
Mike..... I rigged one of the big water lines at Breathe Fest this past month on a 90ish Meter water line on Lift from BC. I adding in the 5mm inov split and it was up and rigged for about 1 week total with lots of people trick bouncing it all week plus also the line getting wet as well. I basically had the same thoughts as you with if there would be small micro abrasions from the constant bouncing with Split. To my surprise, after the festival and derig, there was no abrasion or issues to sewn loops or soft shackle!!!! Again it was only rigged up the whole week but about 30+ people were session in it and bouncing it crazy hard!!!!

Dudeeeee, the bag drop test would be... Spectacular 👌
That line felt surprisingly stable! I definitely want to try this in the future and send it a few times!
0:34 that sunglass move tho
The last 90 seconds of this episode is worth thousands of dollars!!!

Woah. How did that happen?

www.titan-marine-hardware.com/boat-rings.htm 2.5" rings. I want 3" titanium rings but haven't found them yet

.
Would you do a Bgb'z knot with a amsteel loop?
If the main fails, the uber-static dyneema gets shock loaded. Is that a concern?
No because it is connected to stretchier webbings. There is still a lot to absorb the fall. See this test. th-cam.com/video/j0ZJjZ9ybkc/w-d-xo.html
No, its a 1m section of dyneema and 50m of webbing. It doesn’t get shock loaded.

I had this same idea/question, it's versatile to have some 100m and some 50m sections.

If there is no real tension on the backup why not put the back up on fall arresters That’s reducing the drop on the back up line
