Whats not to like about onboard footage of a V8 beast? Liked the commentary too. Very insightful. These types of corvettes are pretty much non existent here in belgium.
The series is awesome. Video idea: you said that the future of motor sports is heading towards sim racing i would love to see you try it for yourself and give us your thoughts about it.
Time keeps ticking on and those old boys club members are gonna start to run out of time rather quickly and then realise, that because they’ve been so snobbish and self obsessed for their own ego boosting racing, there aren’t any passionate young drivers in that series to carry it on and their legacy will die with them. Their loss. Genius garage is great. Keep it up Casey!!
Just like what led NASCAR to the way it is now, they care about nothing but $$$ and have such horrible tunnel vision that it’ll cause them to realize they’re killing the flow of revenue themselves
Really enjoying your videos (only discovered them a week ago, oops). As an ex-flag and grid marshal here in New Zealand, I appreciated your comment after crossing the line. Great to see your support for the young ones. Keep it up.
I’ve taken my youngest daughter and two grandchildren to Mid-Ohio for their Teen Defensive Driving courses. They all had a great time, learned an lot and watched cars on track. My daughter called me from school one day to thank me for sending her. She drove around a 4-wheel drive pickup that was sideways in a ditch on an icy road. This video brought back those memories. I hope to get back there someday. Thank you.
😃 Thank You for the 'Thank you' 😃 much appreciated 'Shout-out' to all the Marshals who work the Flag Stations, Start, Pit In, Pit Out, Grid, etc. Most are volunteers & we are Happy to get acknowledged 😁 and thanks for all your videos, they're great!👍🏽 Keep 'em coming. 💯
so glad there is such a reasonable level headed racer like casey, he genuinely wants people to learn no matter the age unlike these old egotistical racers that ban him and genius garage from racing, they will die out realizing that they are the reason that young enthusiastic racers are the reason the sport keeps on after all these years. keep it up casey!
From someone who has never driven stick in his life, watching videos like these are somewhat daunting but truly demonstrate the discipline and skill it takes to handle a car like this on the track. Keep it up Casey!
Wow, that was truly inspiring to watch. To see how you not just raced the car but paced yourself. It’s easy to go ten tenths, but it’s much more nuanced and requires so much more focus to be fast AND have so munch mechanical empathy. I’m planning on getting into Lemons racing and am going to keep many of my takeaways from the video in mind when I start racing.
I've had a manual sports car as my daily for about the last five years, and have yet to learn how to double clutch on downshift. Something new to practice!
This video is the best breakdown of a driving technique I have ever seen. I've been watching your channel for awhile now but this is on another level. Amazing work Casey, keep it up!
Been a subscriber since you had like 15-30k subs. Really happy you’ve gotten a lot more subscribers, love hearing you talk about your beliefs on everything you’ve talked about.
When I first started messing with cars, there was a man who gave me loads of advice. Along with 4 hour's detailed instruction on changing out an intake manifold on a smallblock Chevy. One thing he said that pertain's to your situation, "What comes around goes around, time is irrelevant". Out the nearly 40 years since I was given that advice. I've watched karma play out so often, I'm very confident in saying these old boys will run into trouble. Best part of it all you don't need to do a thing. They will do all the work for you. All you have to do is sit back and watch the show. After my experience with the man that taught me so much, I'm always trying to pass along advice or at least tell a few stories with the kids I run across. I was once one of them, I only wish I had the experience of Genius Garage.
I remember the first time i saw a video of the footwork in a race car and I was blown away. I couldn't believe how much was going on, with both feet. Thanks for sharing this!
Dude! Shirt ideia: Front = "whose track is this?" Back = "Our Track!" Greetings from Brazil. I also have a channel here a teache people to work on their on stuff. Called ; "Clube de Motores (engine club)" it's in portuguese. Thanks Casey for being a great guy!
Seeing the reaction from the genius garage students was the most inspirational thing. For these people, this is a life changing event. For many already established in racing however, and not doing it for a good purpose like this, it's just another win in the book. Keep doing what you're doing Casey!
I race hill climb and I've got a habit of test tapping the brakes before a corner with my left foot just so I know they are there. I saw later you that too. It's a good habit to develop in my eyes
Just changed my oil today on my 2002 Nissan Altima. It's an automatic car, so I left foot brake. Started fooling around with the slosh and see semi-automatic gear-mode and honestly it makes the car a whole lot better, but I can't downshift without my transmission giving a huge kick to the front wheels. The automatic mode makes it shift from first to second below 2k RPM and it just robs the car of power.
I love seeing this, especially the left foot brake checking, makes total sense but never crossed my mind. Might be worth a discussion to inform on why brake checking is done. A lot of people want the "race" baking system but do not understand the potential significant drawbacks of such systems on a street car - piston knock back can be real unsettling.... As always great content - and now that people are noticing the subs are growing!!!
You have become my favorite TH-cam channel. I just absolutely love what you do and how you do it. Just wish that I had way more money and influence to support Genius Garage.
That was a great drive brother your foot work is fantastic , about 40 years ago I took some great advice from Mario Andretti and practiced my heel toe even in my road car.
Thank you Casey. I don't think I've ever watched someone do heel toe and floating up gears. I also have never seen one of these crazy fuel pedals. Thank you so much for representing Ohio.
That was awesome! It was really interesting to watch the interplay between the hands and the footwork. Could you do a video on controlling slides? Obviously in an AWD car like my daily you can look like a hero without much effort but I'd love some more info on controlling a RWD car when they start to get a bit loose like you had on that last turn.
i mean, you can look up drift tutorials, it helps knowing how to controll slides, sim racing also helps a insane ammount when it comes to improving your driving skills, but when the car begins to slide from my few months of sim racing, either you counterstear fast enaugh or you'll spin, but it's relativly easy to avoid contact and if you controll your throttle and brake inputs well, you dont need to worry about spinning, however, be carefull with the condition of your tyres, dont try being a hero on 2yo tyres that are hard or cracked or bald, drive safe and it's pritty intuitive how to correct the car, sry if i wasn't much of a help, gl buddy.
rafael malheiro well yeah and I’m not talking about purposeful drifting. I’d like to see his preferred recovery techniques because there are many ways to respond to that.
I really enjoy these videos. I gotta say that you changed my perspective on cars and driving, I respect cars a lot more than I did few weeks before. Also I understand now more how they work and that's all thanks to you so thank you for this content that you're making. Cheers!
Love your work, man! My favorites so far are the Thunderbird vids (especially the Behind the Scenes as those guys don't get as much glory as the pilots to the general public, non-aviation geeks), and left lane hogs episodes. Keep on those left lane hog videos as you might make a change. Keep on supporting our country and military!! Keep on making things you love as well as passion makes for a great channel and INFLUENCER! Also, if you need a mule who will learn and do what is asked in your businesses to help out, I'm here, free agent after Covid-19 release and will work for free or minimum until I can prove myself. Not that it really matters, but I got a BS in Information Sciences and Technology from a nice big, Big 10 school that I had a long uphill climb to get into, along with more valuable real world experience.
I love that you’re not afraid to speak against needless wrong-doings. By the way, what is the purpose of the vent duct coming from the passenger window?
Isn't pumping the brake pedal to maintain brake pressure? It's commonly done in analogue racecars that might not have ABS. For example, the V8 Supercars from the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
He did it’s on here but basically you have to be rich or backed by someone rich. Have to pay for the cars some how and when your starting out that’s all on you.
Casey, I am really wanting to get into drag racing a manual. Is this something you’re knowledgeable on? Something you could talk about in a video on how you should launch and be shifting? Love the channel and watching your vids! Im new to driving manual and ive absolutely fell in love..tomorrow I’m looking at what’s hopefully my second manual.
I freaking love your channel man. Subbed not too long ago, currently looking to buy my first stick shift car. Your videos are giving me a much needed start to gaining my confidence in driving, and I hope one day I'll be good enough to be on a track! Gotta start somewhere though, so thank you for the helpful tips and invaluable professional information. Much love from Memphis
Love you videos man. Your a super good guy. Im studying mechanical engineering and got a fox-body project going. Mite want to sell it for a legend car or something. That car is so sick
Another interesting video, im glad that your videos randomly popped up for me, been a very big help and has made me think about my driving on a regular basis to work much differently. Side question as well: Is club level racing like this supported well in the US? it could be because of helmet cam but it didnt seem like there were a lot of people which isnt what id expect.
Great information Casey! One thing I have wondered for years is why some drivers repeatedly stab (or let off) the gas mid turn. You can see good examples in rally racing pretty regularly, but also in that classic video of Ayrton Senna in the NSX. It is attempts to reduce wheel spin? Or induce wheelspin to rotate the car? Some other reason I havent thought of?
Good win! Are you just double clutching out of habit? Seems a bit odd on a trans you don't have to clutch on upshifts, sounds kinda like straight cut gears. Would be interested on some info on the trans!
A question regarding clutchless shifting when accelerating: Doesn't it actually slow down the car a tad more than clutched shifting? I can't get rid of the idea that right after the gear pops in, you have a moment of engine braking, because you can't open the throttle in the exact same moment.
Casey, I was wondering if you have done any oval racing? It is what I am most familiar with. Such as tips, tricks, drafting, slow in fast out, the such. Thanks!
On Today: A Hamster scratches at clay, a sanctioning body gets mad and Casey Stalls from pole position (but wins anyway).
Finally! Some reliable source of driving techniques. We lack that type of content on youtube.
Not to take away from Casey here but Driver61 is another good channel for racing techniques and tech talk from a racing driver.
@@jamesshives5679 cool, I will check him out

I hope you guys enjoy the driving tips series with some old video of footwork in the racing Corvette! What do you think?
I am very much enjoying this series. Please keep up the great and useful content.

That was great. Cool to see the work you have to put into that machine to get the most out of it.
The series is awesome.
