Just tried the bowl method and omg you're a lifesaver. My husband doesn't want it with butter or oil, making it difficult to make it on the stove.

This isn't diet but works and delicious. For 2 years I used a white 3qt. glass bowl that probably wasn't micro safe and 10" glass plate covered it perfectly. I melted 5 tbs. of butter at 1 minute, 1,100 watt. Stir in 1/2 cup of popcorn, salt, seasoning. Back in micro for about 6 min. and take out with mitts. Place the hot plate on sink to cool and finish salting and stirring with a spoon. Wipe butter off plate with Kleenex. Glass bowl keeps it warm while eating. It finally cracked and just found a used 4 qt. clear glass that is for micro and 10" dia. So this time I placed the butter and popcorn in a smaller 12 oz. glass bowl placed in big bowl to help keep heat off big bowl. Worked perfect, popped faster and about 90% instead of the usual 70%.. I make popcorn twice a week so I wipe it out with paper towels and call it good.

It worked beautifully! The only thing is I tried the popcorn button instead of listening to you and only 2 popped, so I listened to you and set it for 3 minutes. It worked! Thank you so much!!!! I like butter, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese on mine. I used a Pyrex microwavable glass storage bowl with a plate on top. It turned out better than making it in the plastic microwave popper I have. I'm kind of getting funny in my old age and am steering away from cooking in microwavable plastic and non-stick coated pans. I guess I must be longing for the past. :D

I've been doing this for decades and it works great. The only thing to be aware of is to keep an eye on your bag to be sure it doesn't get stuck in a corner. If the bag gets stuck, be sure to move it as it can catch on fire. I had this happen.

I’ve been doing brown bag popping for awhile. Recently I used a bag that we’d gotten tacos in. Bad idea. Had a fire in my new microwave 😅. Don’t know if there was grease on the bag or if it had gotten to close to the top of the oven. Lesson learned.

Our favorite thing on popcorn is tamari (soy sauce)!! It has the saltiness and awesome flavor. For a long time I struggled trying to shake the soy sauce bottle around, but now I put some in a small glass spray bottle. It works perfectly. I think the light spray of good barrel-aged tamari is healthier than butter and our family likes it better.

I buy the white lunchbags since a lot of the brown ones I find in my local stores are made with recycled paper and that sort of grosses me out, lol. I've been using the lunch bag method for years. The person who told me about it said a high humidity microwave worked best so I get my popcorn ready to go, microwave a cup of water for tea, put the popcorn in as I take the mug of water out. If my popcorn kernels are not old almost every single kernel pops. I have an oil sprayer and I spray a bit of olive oil on the popped popcorn while it's hot. I like to try all sorts of toppings. I love chili powder, salt and a bit of sugar, something about that is addictive. Cinnamon and sugar is good too. When craving something chocolate I used Nestlé quick powder and salt, it was pretty good. I also buy the Kernel's Seasonings popcorn spices, they're good. You can use a packet of Ramen seasoning that does not need extra salt at all. Another option is dry salad dressing mixes for interesting flavors like ranch or Itilian dressing. If you're someone that loves the vinegar and salt chips you can buy powdered apple cider vinegar powder and make salt and vinegar popcorn. I love how much more healthy popcorn is than chips and how it's a great base for whatever flavors you're craving. Herbs and spices are great on it too! Old bay popcorn is a favorite of some family members. A really great combo uses butter powder, cheese powder, tomato bullion powder, italian seasoning, garlic powder and parmesan. That makes yummy pizza popcorn, one of my favorites! I'm sure a lot of you have favorite topping or a unique topping that you've done. I bought a box of the Cheetos Mac n Cheese so I can use the powder pkg on popcorn, bet that's going to be good. It also comes in Jalapeño Cheese variety too, I will probably wind up trying that too. When I was a kid a friend's mom used to make colorful fruit flavored popcorn balls with Karo syrup and Jello. I wouldn't eat those now but I have sprinkled fruit flavored Jello onto popcorn, I used a lighter oil on the popcorn and it was pretty yummy but splotchy colored, lol. You could probably make tie dyed popcorn for children that way.

Microwaves agitate water molecules which is what causes things to cook (friction from water molecules vibrating back and forth). Glass doesn't contain water so it's completely safe to put in the microwave and is probably better than plastic. If anything I'd worry about hot kernels melting plastic. Food for thought, microwave doors have glass windows in them.

I bought a bag of popcorn to pop on the oven. If I was to do would I put a little butter on the bottom or oil? 🍿

I have a microwave-convection combination oven that has metal shelves in it instead of the usual rotating glass platter, and when I tried popping the commercial bagged popcorn, the paper would sometimes burn a bit. I am concerned that with a plain, thinner paper bag, the rack will burn through and I will have popcorn all over the oven. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation?

A empty mashed potato box works great also! The box gets really hot so if you have a really powerful microwave, use caution!

Paper bags can start on fire. So, if you aren’t in the room for the “smell” test, you can have a good fire going.

@@PrepperPotpourri I just did. It turned out so cool. The base of my plastic bowl melted and some corns didn't pop. But
The ones that popped were soo tasty and fresh.
I'll head out tomorrow and buy a glass bowl.
      Thank you so much.
