Higher efficient in this case to drill with CNC support and install new nand with low temp

There is risk but remember he is having the perfect heatblower nozzle and also using the heat tape. This type of thing always has risk.

What items were used in the video, to do this conversion? I’m curious so I could buy the same items and upgrade storage space for people who don’t have the $$ for a new phone, but want their data and etc - backup before, desoldered, re-ball the new NAND unit, and boom - install, then restore from backup, and you’ve got the same phone with 20x the space capacity.

Apple can hard code in software that if
1. Memory is more than 64 GB then not boot
2. If serial number of nand chip has changed then not boot.
Then this upgrade would not be possible in future.

Its magic why ios took 4-5 gb storage ..so after changing the storage, the os got installed by magic to the new storage

The max that the xs max support is 512gb. It can never take any storage above it. If done then it wont boot
