Class 10 / U1 microSD is very well fast enough to record 1080p video, U3 is perfect for 4K video and they cost way less too. :)

I have done this mod 3x now. There's a couple steps you need to do between acquiring a drive and soldering it in. Make sure it's not locked! Make sure you have the expensive hardware to properly get the drive ready for the 'ol switch-a-roo! Worked fine. Did you flash the new hard drive coming in or did you just grab one off of another phone and throw it on in there? After flashing, did you use the NAN reader this company has and THEIR software to make sure it flashed properly BEFORE installing it? Again, I DID this 3 times now. It worked. Like a charm. EVERY time.

Most people aren't. It's actually a relatively difficult process to undertake. Any time I work on small electronics like that, I make sure I've had a good breakfast and some coffee. One tiny little shake of the hand and you can upset the entire repair, or damage the phone.

These chips usually have a lot of grounding pads and some NC (not connected) pads, so I assume this is the reason. Just check the datasheet for the flash chip.
they could be ground pins but if you see in the video, when he dessolder the nand, 3 or 4 pins went out with the nand too. it's possible when he dessolder at low temperatures. maybe if he had waited a pair of seconds all pins were be ok. but this system is the only way to fix the FAMOUS problem. bye

People this video is great but by doing this you will already be killing the thermal pads on the APU. Once you place the MOBO back to the phone you'll be throttling performance as hell. In small words ( an ultra slow phone ) just get a new phone or trade in your current for a higher GB version.

That is correct, even by opening the camera app will throttle the phone. The DIE needs to dissipate heat quick.
iPhone 6s kernel is set to throttle the APU at 40c.
Without a good thermal paste/pad the APU tend to reach those temps in less than 3 seconds. those temperatures are critical for the phones hardware such display.
Once you perform this operation (video) your thermal paste/pad will definitely be toasted (dry), becomes hard like a rock.
exklim those metal covers are electronic shielding.. also, thermal pads are reusable so im not sure where are you getting here.

bostix Uh, I'm confused. None of those things you listed require physical storage space on the device itself (besides the apps themselves, which don't consume too much space). What does make a difference though is the storage controller's sequential read and write speeds which determine how fast an application loads.

Alexander Guerrero depends on the grade of tools hot air rework stations can get pretty pricey a good one is around 500 min shitty ones can be had 2nd hand for around 200. the vice they use is probably 100 the stencil is probably 50 then the tub of solder paste and flux paste is another 50. so yeah this is totally diy. rather than spending the extra 100-200 when you buy your phone...
almost as easy as adding an sd card to all other phones...

I'm enjoying my 1000$ phone knowing that it will continue being helpful in the coming years. Getting all the updates not worrying about being left out from important iOS renewals. And Yes they are more likely to get corrupted but still rarely do, I have used a singleMicro SD card for over 5 years and never ran into issues. There are good and bad quality ones. When I fill my Micro SD card I just pull it out and swap a new one rather than having to back it up. In Apple you have to pay hundreds more for upgraded storage. Not to mention if your phone gets bricked or water damaged you lose all your files. And iPhones slow down more than Android btw, after every update they become slower. This is planned obsolescence.

NO!!!!!!! DO NOT FRIGGIN DO IT!!!!!! There were NO 256GB options for the iPhone 6sPlus. You CANNOT take chips from other models (even an "S" model where they barely change anything) and put it on your model. The models have to match!!! The architecture is a LITTLE bit different on each model. Besides that, I do believe the solder sockets wouldn't be the same either. Almost certain of that. But no, your dream is henceforth dashed man.

I have seen several videos with new flash chips put into iPhones. Are you saying that even though the chip has been given the iPhones serial number and so recognises the entire storage value that only 16gb can be used. If so how do you know this ? Also being that flash storage is simply that and not memory for the operating system what error would make the phone reboot ? The storage size is being recognised correctly as such the device should have full access to that storage. Would be very interested to know more

My local 7-11 does this with pizza order. Takes 12 min to go and throw Iphone 6S into trash can.

Upgrading iPhone storage:
1. Remove screen with screwdriver
2. Remove logic board with screwdriver
3. Place NAND flash under $300 heating lamp and remove NAND flash
4. Flux and tin the connecting pads on the logic board
5. Flux and tin the connecting pads on the NAND flash
6. Reball NAND flash with reball stencil
7. Place NAND flash into $300 NAND programmer
8. Backup CPU/baseband info from old 16GB NAND to new 128GB NAND
9. Perfectly align new NAND chip with logic board
10. Heat new NAND chip with heating lamp to connect chip to the board
11. Reassemble logic board back into the phone
12. Reconnect screen to phone
13. Done
Upgrading Android storage:
1. Insert microSD card into microSD slot
2. Done

you know i have an easier way to upgrade a phones memory buy a android and put a 128gb sd card in it.
For most Android phone, you can just buy a SD card. But for iPhone, you can not insert a SD card directly

Or you could get a new logic board with a Touch ID sensor paired to it on ifixit and likely not break you phone
