Generally speaking, people with toxic childhoods start to realize something was off about their upbringing and parents in their early 20’s. It usually takes until their early 30’s to do something about it, whether it’s therapy, boundaries, going no-contact or some combination, if they are the aware type to change a cycle. My bet is that most of the kids will realize she is toxic and start to distance themselves from her in various ways. But a couple of them will stay around her to keep the peace or to please her or try to get some sort of approval as “the good child” because love scraps are what they know.
Kate was so mean to Colin that her attitude influenced the other kids against him from the time they were all babies. I think they became bigots toward Colin but because it happened so early in their lives, they can’t identify it as adults. They don’t even see their bigotry.
I watched this show from the beginning. I loved some of the things Jon and a kate did with the kids but always thought Kate was extremely bossy. I told a friend that I didn’t think the marriage would last by the way Kate talked down to Jon. She is not nice and Mady on reality TV she’s just like her mother. I was always surprised that Cara wasn’t raised by Jon because she did so many sports and things with him. Although she did seem passive. Honestly I think something should be done to Kate for locking up her son and don’t contacting Jon at all. Hopefully the kids will be able to get along without Kates interference.
I was surprised Cara didn’t visit with Jon like Hannah and Colin did. She was close with him (as were some of the other kids like Joel), have to put it down to Parental Alienation because he was always talking about wanting to be in their lives and Hannah and Colin did end up with him. I guess the wrath of mom wasn’t worth going with Dad. Sad for them.
I completely agree with you 👍💯I saw the premiere episode of their show and knew from the beginning that their marriage wasn’t going to last. Im surprised it lasted as long as it did with Kates attitude and behavior over the way she treated Jon and the kids and it only got worse with each episode. There are three episodes that stick out to me (ONE) Where Jon and the kids were carving pumpkins and Kate was throwing a fit because it was to messy but they were having a good time . (TWO) They were going to the Crayola factory which I think was about a 75 mile drive in one direction and Kate was complaining the whole time then threw a fit when they got there because one of the kids got magic marker on their clothes and said they were done and was ready to leave. (THREE) They were in a toy store and Kate yelled at Jon and embarrassed him in front of everyone it really was ridiculous. She had issues with babysitters and Nannies people were quitting after a few days or even weeks after getting hired and they all said they couldn’t deal with her anymore. Did you see her on “ DANCING WITH THE STARS” ⭐️ her partner Tony said he nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to work with her and the look of relieve on his face when they finally got voted off said it all she is a very toxic person. 🤢🤮

Didn't watch or listen to it but I can answer that very easy. Mady is JUST LIKE her mother!!! They are both selfish, hateful, evil narcissists. She has ALWAYS been a brat and a bully - watch some of the shows and see her pick on the other children over and over. Two narcissists have trouble bonding.
We could see Kate always wanted to be in control from the start of the show Jon and Kate plus 8. I am just waiting for her kids to come into their own and turn on her for what she did to the family. Keeping those children away from their father is wrong. I hope the children see that when they are out on their own as adults. Those children need therapy. They have been through things NO child should of gone through. BTW did each child get a trust fund set-up for them being on air that no one could touch but them when they turn 18??? The golden child always turns against the scapegoat, and make themselves the victim even though they often instigate against their own siblings. It’s a survival mechanism but just as damaging. If she’s the oldest (I never watched the show) there’s a big chance she is Narcissistic like the mom or a narcissistic sociopath because they are forced to grow up so fast, parent their own parent & siblings but also manage the narc parents emotions, so they disconnect from themselves and learn to manipulate at a very young age to survive. There’s no room for emotions or weakness because they see what happens to the kid they consider the weakest and nobody wants to be in their situation so siblings turn on each other (and most likely always will). The Scapegoat is the only one telling the truth.
It's sad to see a parent who doesn't care about anyone or anything but herself. But it's even sadder how she forced them to choose a side. And we've seen and heard what happens if it wasn't hers. She doesn't only turn on them, she took it a step further by manipulating their siblings into icing them and their dad out.

All 8 kids were all mean to each other as kids, not just Mady. I've seen the children on TV slapping each other, kicking, punching, screaming, especially the sextuplets. Even the calmer ones, Cara and Hannah had their bad moments as well. Mady's bad moments though were shown the most and it is true the parents were harder on Collin than they were on any of the other kids. As Collin has stated, he and his siblings' behavior is no different from each other. All 8 of the kids have seen their parents' behavior towards each other and it was the only way they got their parents' attention. The biggest issue with this family in general is the lack of communication and emotion regulation. When Mady was younger despite her disagreeable ways, she always spoke her mind of she felt and goes against her mom. For example, Mady out of all people, comforted Collin when his bear got gum on it and angry Kate was about to throw it away. Mady told Kate it wasn't Collin's fault and it was an accident. Another example is in an interview, Mady told Kate she liked Jon more. Then as she got older, in interviews despite Mady's disagreeable ways, Mady knew not to cross Kate and Mady was on her mom's side because of Kate's control issues. If Mady nowadays is finally seeing how bad her mom really is and if she is going to stand up to her mom again, and even make amends with the people she hurt, I'm all for it. However I'm not sure. The other 5 kids with Kate aren't reaching out to Collin either.

Mady and Collin never really got along, they almost always fought as kids, if you go back and watch the show….I saw maybe once or twice they got along in all those years….but neither are personally to blame because both of the kids have ADHD which can really affect behaviors and impulses. I think there could be hope that as they mature they can re-connect, talk it out like mature adults.

I remember before the Collin thing hit the news, both Collin and Hannah were expelled from their private school for violent and unacceptable behavior. Everybody seems to give Jon a pass. He was a terrible husband on that show. I don't think anyone is totally right but Kate was in control, organized and loving while raising eight kids practically on her own. I don't think she deserves all the hate. I think you should look a little bit more into it before making statements like . First of all any mistakes, John, did he confess to and his own and taken responsibility for it. Kate has not and she absolutely 100% was a toxic wife and a toxic mother. She was constantly on him, correcting every single thing and critiquing him just emasculating him as many chances as she could get. It was so cringe and unbecoming of her. She was like always yelling his name and snapping at him saying can you stop breathing so loud. there’s so much footage out there that shows her not only constantly going after her husband, but treating her kids in a cold bizarre way . Especially Colin. His sister Hannah backs up his claims that his mother absolutely treated him differently so did a nanny and so did people who worked on the show have backed up, claims that Kate would be extremely with the children she would use excessive amount of corporal punishment and would pull their hair or grabbing them hard for minor things. She even wrote it in her journal. And she would often talk badly about Colin when he was just doing kind of normal little boy things . The truth is, he didn’t wanna be on the show anymore. That’s why he was looking sad in the last episodes before he was sent away for no reason at all because he was never diagnosed with anything as Kate claims. He was accepted to the Marines and into Boot Camp. They would’ve never accepted him if he had any kind of disabilities or mental health issues. And the way that key is alienated her children against Colin and their father is horrible. Hannah will still talk to her mother and her siblings, but she doesn’t understand why her siblings won’t contact and doesn’t understand why her mother won’t contact her son. I don’t care what happens. Nothing‘s gonna separate me from my children and I would’ve never put them on a shell like this to begin with because it’s just child exploitation. I think it’s disgusting that parents will shove the camera in their kids faces when they are too young to make the decision themselves.. Risking their happiness and mental health . I’m just glad his father stepped in and took custody as well as taking custody with Hannah. And the way that key is still vindictive to this day towards her son. Colin is very sickening. I would do anything to repair a relationship with my child. If I did any kind of mistake, I would try to rectify it. I would never put myself between my children. I think everyone needs to hear the stories of the children. Individually even. When parents are truly oppressive or abusive you will not see it happen on TV. If you do see it, I guarantee it will be in its mildest form. A Narcissistic or abusive parent will always choose one who will be their punching bag. So before yall start yelling st each other over it. Pay attention to those details. When a child of abuse realizes the impacts when they are older, it's better for them to speak up. Keeping those children away from their father is wrong. I hope the children see that when they are out on their own as adults. Those children need therapy. They have been through things NO child should of gone through. BTW did each child get a trust fund set-up for them being on air that no one could touch but them when they turn 18??? The golden child always turns against the scapegoat, and make themselves the victim even though they often instigate against their own siblings. It’s a survival mechanism but just as damaging. If she’s the oldest (I never watched the show) there’s a big chance she is Narcissistic like the mom or a narcissistic sociopath because they are forced to grow up so fast, parent their own parent & siblings but also manage the narc parents emotions, so they disconnect from themselves and learn to manipulate at a very young age to survive. There’s no room for emotions or weakness because they see what happens to the kid they consider the weakest and nobody wants to be in their situation so siblings turn on each other (and most likely always will). The Scapegoat is the only one telling the truth.
It's sad to see a parent who doesn't care about anyone or anything but herself. But it's even sadder how she forced them to choose a side. And we've seen and heard what happens if it wasn't hers. She doesn't only turn on them, she took it a step further by manipulating their siblings into icing them and their dad out.

I think she has grown up and gone to college. Freedom and silence that lasts long enough to think straight has allowed her to learn how to think for herself. She was in a bubble for years but she got out. Good for her!
All 8 kids were all mean to each other as kids, not just Mady. I've seen the children on TV slapping each other, kicking, punching, screaming, especially the sextuplets. Even the calmer ones, Cara and Hannah had their bad moments as well. Mady's bad moments though were shown the most and it is true the parents were harder on Collin than they were on any of the other kids. As Collin has stated, he and his siblings' behavior is no different from each other. All 8 of the kids have seen their parents' behavior towards each other and it was the only way they got their parents' attention. The biggest issue with this family in general is the lack of communication and emotion regulation.
When Mady was younger despite her disagreeable ways, she always spoke her mind of she felt and goes against her mom. For example, Mady out of all people, comforted Collin when his bear got gum on it and angry Kate was about to throw it away. Mady told Kate it wasn't Collin's fault and it was an accident. Another example is in an interview, Mady told Kate she liked Jon more. Then as she got older, in interviews despite Mady's disagreeable ways, Mady knew not to cross Kate and Mady was on her mom's side because of Kate's control issues. If Mady nowadays is finally seeing how bad her mom really is and if she is going to stand up to her mom again, and even make amends with the people she hurt, I'm all for it. However I'm not sure. The other 5 kids with Kate aren't reaching out to Collin either.

Mady and Collin never really got along, they almost always fought as kids, if you go back and watch the show….I saw maybe once or twice they got along in all those years….but neither are personally to blame because both of the kids have ADHD which can really affect behaviors and impulses. I think there could be hope that as they mature they can re-connect, talk it out like mature adults.

I remember before the Collin thing hit the news, both Collin and Hannah were expelled from their private school for violent and unacceptable behavior. No Kate isnt mother of the year but she was there for her kids. Jon on the other hand was the deadbeat dad. Since living with his Dad, Collin had had quite a few what I would call psychiatric episodes. Jon got Collin out of treatment simply to rub Kates face in it. Hope the kid gets some help and grows up before he really hurts someone

Everybody seems to give Jon a pass. He was a terrible husband on that show. I don't think anyone is totally right but Kate was in control, organized and loving while raising eight kids practically on her own. I don't think she deserves all the hate. She had to be strong raising all those kids. How was she supposed to turn it off after so long? I have respect for her, Jon was useless and in the end wanted to party and date younger women.
WTF!!! 😂 What show was you watching????? Kate was a absolute NIGHTMARE 🙄😳 Even the nurses from the hospital that she use to work with had nothing nice to say about her. Yes she was in control because she was a control freak, she bashed John on every move that he made that wasn't up to her standards. And she berated him on the show he has said that he didn't even want to do the show but she wanted all the perks that came with being on the show. And he wasn't a terrible husband he was a tired/stressed husband they had 8 kids, his life was being played out on a television show that he didn't really care for and he had a bitch of a wife running their house hold the way she wanted it to be ran. So instead of arguing with her and facing excruciating from tv he kept quiet sometimes that's the best thing you can do to keep your peace. I'm glad he and at least 2 of their children who spoke up made it out of that relationship. Kudos to them.❤

I think you should look a little bit more into it before making statements like . First of all any mistakes, John, did he confess to and his own and taken responsibility for it. Kate has not and she absolutely 100% was a toxic wife and a toxic mother. She was constantly on him, correcting every single thing and critiquing him just emasculating him as many chances as she could get. It was so cringe and unbecoming of her. She was like always yelling his name and snapping at him saying can you stop breathing so loud. there’s so much footage out there that shows her not only constantly going after her husband, but treating her kids in a cold bizarre way . Especially Colin. His sister Hannah backs up his claims that his mother absolutely treated him differently so did a nanny and so did people who worked on the show have backed up, claims that Kate would be extremely with the children she would use excessive amount of corporal punishment and would pull their hair or grabbing them hard for minor things. She even wrote it in her journal. And she would often talk badly about Colin when he was just doing kind of normal little boy things .
The truth is, he didn’t wanna be on the show anymore. That’s why he was looking sad in the last episodes before he was sent away for no reason at all because he was never diagnosed with anything as Kate claims. He was accepted to the Marines and into Boot Camp. They would’ve never accepted him if he had any kind of disabilities or mental health issues. And the way that key is alienated her children against Colin and their father is horrible. Hannah will still talk to her mother and her siblings, but she doesn’t understand why her siblings won’t contact and doesn’t understand why her mother won’t contact her son.
I don’t care what happens. Nothing‘s gonna separate me from my children and I would’ve never put them on a shell like this to begin with because it’s just child exploitation. I think it’s disgusting that parents will shove the camera in their kids faces when they are too young to make the decision themselves..

And the way that key is still vindictive to this day towards her son. Colin is very sickening. I would do anything to repair a relationship with my child. If I did any kind of mistake, I would try to rectify it. I would never put myself between my children. I would be encouraging them to stay together and talk to each other and work it out. That family should always come first. Kate only cares about her image fame attention getting as much money as possible, because she loves squandering it actually being a real mother and mending relationships.
She even sucked at being a mother. She had a nanny working with her at all times and goes off being extremely entitled thinking that she is doing something amazing raising eight kids all at the same time. Seriously my grandparents on my mom side at 12 kids. A lot of them are just a year apart. I’ll have a families out there have had many kids and none of them were offered a reality show just because she popped them all out like a puppy doesn’t make her that special. 🙄
I think everyone needs to hear the stories of the children. Individually even. When parents are truly oppressive or abusive you will not see it happen on TV. If you do see it, I guarantee it will be in its mildest form. A Narcissistic or abusive parent will always choose one who will be their punching bag. So before yall start yelling st each other over it. Pay attention to those details. When a child of abuse realizes the impacts when they are older, it's better for them to speak up. If you don't speak up, you act out or retreat inward. Only one is productive. Praying for all those kiddos
