Princess Anne is an absolute legend. Staying with her mother from death bed to grave. The final service she could render to her mother and sovereign. Good on Anne.

because America is a continent, not a country. And it belongs to all Americans from north to south, not just the United States.

I am an American. In my youth, in the 80s & 90s, I thought she was out of touch & even unfeeling. In my age came (some) wisdom & I came to see her VERY different. I understood her better & what she was trying to do. She had an absolutely impossible job that she did very, very well. She was not perfect & no one could be, but she did far better than anyone possibly could. God save the Queen. We shall never see another reign like hers.

My mother was a WWII bride. Growing up American, but our hearts always protected Britain too. Queen Elizabeth opened up so many doors for women to be looked at differently in the US. We could do the same job, and better as any man. Now we're being pushed back...and she's not here to say what bs it is. This true Lady, this gem of humanity made her errors and her triumphs but always she shared them with us. I know, not a Brit, but part of my heart and half my heritage is. God bless you QEII...classiest of ladies to ever rule.

I’m not a British subject but personally I feel like the successful marriage and family of Prince William and Princess Kate would have given the queen a lot of comfort in the continuity of her family and the royal line. I cried many tears when London bridge came down and your queen passed away, but I’m grateful that she did not have to endure watching her son and her granddaughter in law go through the cancers that they are battling now. I pray for them both.❤

Great Britain isn't a Commonwealth. It, comprised of England, Scotland and Wales (along with Northern Ireland, not on the island of Great Britain) is a Kingdom.
The Commonwealth is an organization of former British colonies (similar to the UN) a mix of which may or may not have the British Monarch as head of state.
In addition, she wasn't just Queen of England, she was also Queen of Scotland and Northern Ireland, so the appropriate term would be "British Queen".
This is what the person above should have said, rather than the cruel and inaccurate quip about Americans.

I am a Norwegian royalist and I was kind of waiting for this day. On 11 September I embarked on my very first cruise from Copenhagen via Southampton to Spain. I was walking in Southampton on the Sunday and it was eerily quiet. Lots of memorial boards were up across the city and few people were in the streets. I was on an Italian ship and they had only two English channels on the tv. I would have watched a lot of the programs about the Queen at home, but I think I got a better version of the broadcast on the ship. HM Queen Elizabeth was revered not only in the UK and the (partly former) Commonwealth, but all over the world, and we all mourned with her family.

People treated me as if I was stupid for crying for her. My son and I were seeking housing that day. It came up on the screen at the Philadelphia Housing Authority Office Building. (I actually still have the paperwork). People laughed at me for crying about her, but I still have the pictures my Grandmother took of Buckingham Palace when she was in London for a trip. My Grandmother passed away on this date, and I cannot forget the call I got from my Uncle, because I was in New York with some friends to see the fireworks. My family was worried about me getting back home, but I made it. I felt that way when Queen Elizabeth passed away, and even have my letters from Buckingham Palace. I am American.

As an American, even if the Kennedy’s seem to be our unofficial Royal family, the Queen was our Queen, she was the world’s Queen. I cried like a baby when she died, I’m a self-proclaimed Royalist so it’s no surprise. I got to see the procession from Balmoral to Edinburgh, the same day as the anniversary of 9/11. I didn’t see anything until the journey to Westminster from Buckingham Palace. The day before the funeral, I was sick. The next day, I sat still, still sick, to bid farewell to everyone’s Queen. Britain’s longest reigning monarch, one of the world’s longest reigning monarch. I study military ceremonies and especially funerals and each country’s funeral tradition military or not, so seeing a state British funeral was a big event for me, it wasn’t the last but it was the first British funeral I saw live. I missed the Westminster Abbey service and the procession to the Abbey, but I got to see it end, the last post (the same version played at Churchill’s funeral), the British Reveille, and God Save The King. I got to watch the long procession to Wellington Arch, the journey to Windsor castle, and the committal. The removal of her scepter, orb, and especially the imperial state crown, really hit hard the most, symbolizing it truly was the end of a very good era.

In accordance with Operation London Bridge, at the death of Queen Elizabeth II, there will be a series of calls that would happen before being disclosed to the public, from the Queen's private secretary, to the British Prime Minister, and to the members of the Commonwealth.
The message "London Bridge is down" simply conveys the message that Queen Elizabeth has died.

The phone ringing at the background is referred to the starting action of Operation London Bridge, wherein the Queen's private secretary would call the British Prime Minister and say the words: London Bridge is down, indicating the death of the Queen.
