      @@Chasemtb2392 if you like big rock slabs and rolls its alright lots of chunky stuff to have fun on, but we don't have a single machine built trail in the entire state, so its all pretty low level compared to anywhere else. Luckily I'm super close to mass so I just do most my mtb biking over there where they actually build jumps lol

    Dude packing with the one wheel is probably the best idea I've seen this year!

    • @SkillsWithPhil
      @SkillsWithPhil  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is one of the most effective ways I've found to pack relatively flat terrain. The rolling motion does a better job than a plate compactor IMO. That being said it doesn't work well on rollers because you'll drag the nose/tail even if you adjust the setting in the app. Also sometimes there's not quite enough torque and your wheel will get stuck in soft dirt. I would love a bigger tire + higher torque version, but otherwise it's pretty great.

      @SkillsWithPhil  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, the bridge is still in the plans, a but lower priority right now but still on the to do list. That's actually one of the reasons I built that partial access road where I'm towing the wooodchipper the second time. That's so it will be easier to get lumber out there when it's finally time to build.
      This year I really wanted to make a point of getting some full runs up and running and having them be functional and fun. The first year we built features that were thumbnail worthy but weren't really loopable without hiking. The second year we roughed in some trails, and then this year we made thing functional. A huge battle is making things resistant to rain and building good drainage which is super time consuming but the payoff is huge when it works well.
      Next year id like to make a few more fun features and side hits. I've also been toying with the idea of making a full northshore/trialsy course.

      We did one leaf blow pass after all the maple leaves had fallen but before the beech leaves came down.I was planning to experiment and not leaf blow this year, but it couldn't stand riding leaf covered trails. It was so much extra work to maintain speed. Not leaf blowing works better on high traffic trail systems IMO.

      @Nosnhojyerffej 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkillsWithPhil yeah that's the trick... Trails needs traffic. You've probably seen it already how your trails hold up vs lift served mountain trails. I've been leaving them on my locals but they're more XC, less gravity so it's less impact but always end up breaking a spoke or two. Leaves will aid in Spring recovery and prevent soil erosion. If you can stay off the frost heaves it shouldn't matter I guess. Nice work! Wish I had all those toys on my locals.
