I was so hyped when you started going on about natural trails. Bench cut trails are fun but nothing beats natural trails! Especially when you can use the terrain to create features to spice it up. I'm fortunate to have a crew of riders at my favorite local system that build awesome trails using limited elevation and what's available in the woods. The best!
The absolute best thing about riding a bike is building your own trails and having them turn out fun to ride! Looking forward to seeing how your new trails turn out!
A tip for budget builders, a quality folding saw can do as good or even better than a reciprocating saw. Can reach harder to reach branches, safer, cheaper, lighter and as fast. I use one garden shears for very small branches and roots, silky folding saw for medium branches, an axe for splitting rungs (froes are awesome if you can find one) and a chainsaw for making slabs and felling large trees. :)
Love dig videos! I'd be interested in seeing how you decide on routing, do you flag the trail first or just go for it once you have an idea on where it's gonna go?
Great Video with proper useful tips 👍 You cant say enough how important it is to scout the terrain, this make trail building and trails later on so much better. Please give some more tips all the small details always good to learn…. cheers and merry christmas 🎄
Love it! I was building trails today! Following some animal trails working with about 30 acres. Using battery power Milwaukee chainsaw and pruners work amazing.
It won’t break tree branches, but check out the Fiskars 24” leaf rake. It flexes over roots, stumps and rocks and still picks up all the leaves on the our trails very efficiently. We use it for rake and ride trail building as well as general maintenance work. You can get it for around $20 at Home Depot. You won’t be disappointed.
I built 3 trails, it's the hardest work I've ever done, like 3 to 4 hour intense gym sessions. Literally blood sweat and tears, definitely took a toll but also the body adapts, i got stronger and better at it, you do need to rest well. Respect to all trail builders
Aaron, I love that trail envisioning & routing approach you use. I've used the same on two trails -- scan the landscape for support / line change vectors, look for game trails, minimize the bench cut needs for those very same erosion results you mention. It saves on building time and usually the end result "rides in" more interestingly than trails that are heavy on the land-sculpting. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result of this XC loop. Thanks for making & sharing this video.
I began building bmx tracks as a kid and mountain bike trails in my fifty's! It's a great reward and workout and fun to just let the terrain tell you how to build it. A good tip is to work the dirt when moist and in the fall/winter when plants are dormant!
Welcome to Nashville. Wilkins Branch is the place to ride nearby. We have a bunch of private motocross, ebike and jump trails in the area. Great place to live and ride.
That is fantastic. I'm looking forward to see next videos. That will be great inspiration. This year I was helped out few guys with local trails. This year we plan to have that legalised what means more trail building :-)
sweet, man! we have just 2.5 ac but it wasn't long and I had some trails cut in. At least a quarter of it is front yard and house foot print, but it's all hill also, have a small creek on it too. I have a similar idea of using the lay of the land, we had a couple of those deer/animal paths that we incorporated too. Have two little bridges over the creek at this point, loops that you can ride a bunch of different ways, always a work in progress but yeah, so awesome to have it right at the house, and for my kids to mess with too.
your building ''chute'' trails, they cup up however much on each side, actually a clever approach, however an argument for crossing the fall line more directly is extended ride time, and sharable with less experienced riders.
In Germany, most trails are built like that, because it is a pain in the ass to get permission to dig, so most are dug illegally. This way you also get as much trail as possible with the least amount of work.
Make friends with the folks at your local sawmill! You can get a ton of lumber for wooden features when you inevitably have to drop a few trees
that was rad! stoked to see it progress

Been wanting to build for a month, watching you is getting me started tomorrow.
You have a topo survey of your lot? Might be nice to see what it looks like from above. Seems way easy to get lost in them trees :)
Stoked to see the DH trails come to life, cheers \m/
cant wait to see this build. Thanks bud!

"Sprint dig," Facts!! I do the same thing. Fun video thanks for sharing.

That dirt looks so nice to dig
Looking forward to seeing what a world class rider creates when there's a blank canvas to play with. Can't beat back yard builds
Trail building is like the cream for mountain bike coffee... it makes it that much sweeter.

I recommend a trail tool, it's called a spade and you use it to actually dig features.
That's awesome... looking forward to more build edits!!

i enjoy good trail building videos. this is going to be an entertaining series.
Love this new series! It would be cool to make some tree slaloms - like a single track dual slalom track with flat turns
for the dream! can't wait to see more of this!
cant wait to follow your progress on the build man.. happy holidays
Great stuff... looking forward to seeing how it builds!
We have almost 2 miles of trails, jump line, and pump track on our 5 acres. It's a ton of fun having it right at the house.
Bring yourself and your Ebike on down to Guntersville State Park, we got some stuff you would like I think!🤙
AG’s gone full TH-camr and I’m loving it!
Even Aaron has a Trek in the garage. He knows what’s up!

I'm a sucker for trail building vlogs, especially from Aaron fvkin gwin
Really stoked on this new series. I’ve been digging my local trails for the past few months, hoping to get some local riders to join in
I'll come dig for ya man anytime! Got a few freeride lines here in Riverside.
Good luck riding trails in the Nashville area in the winter… other than Montgomery bell
Gwin hit up southridge this year! Always stoked to see a video 😎

Yesssss. I'm looking forward to this!
Heaven! Now...Steber - when are we gonna see a new Tazer!?!
I love this stuff. Can't wait to see what you come up with so I can plan more for my trail
This is cool. I have a similar property. The climb is ROUGH on an enduro bike but it is rad to have somewhere so easy to dig and ride.
Nice. About to start a trail on our 30 acres.
I want to see trail riding content on the primer or tracer!
Nashvegas! This is going to be rad!
Make more trail building videos! This was rad.
I built my 3yo a bike trail this week with a rake, broom & scissors 😅
This series is going to be rad 🤙🏻
You’re also gonna want a Maddock, a Pulaski and a good Brazilian made machete aka “cutlass”.
Diggin’ the dig vids! As for ideas for vids: I really enjoyed your workout videos. Would be nice to dive more into your fitness and nutrition regime.
More of this please 🤩
how awesome your backyard is aaron 💪
Yes the gwinmister is back .
Dear Aaron, do you have video with your garage review? It will be interesting to see! I very admire you! I’m 17 years old. Hello from Ukraine!
trail building.... easily as fun as riding :P
So sick!! Would love to put some machines and wood on the ground at our heros' house!! If you're interested, 😆
Awesome 👍🍺
Hi this here is Aaron's hike hax! Welcome to Turn Summit. It's time to do something kinda the same...
No tool kit is complete without a wheelbarrow. Nice dirt!
No longer in Temecula, I see. Damn
your building ''chute'' trails, they cup up however much on each side, actually a clever approach, however an argument for crossing the fall line more directly is extended ride time, and sharable with less experienced riders.
Rake and ride yew!
Wish you was my uncle would love doing this
Good luck😂
Did you create an overview map before you started digging? Or was it just all informal after walking around to scout features?
Make a Training Track style
The McLeod is good, I am converted to the Travis Tool from Rogue.
Love my Rogue Travis. It’s great for chopping roots, bench cutting, one swing of the blade takes out a small multiflora bush.
How many times a day do you have to shave? I watched it grow during your video

What in the Greer Ranch is this?!?
❤❤❤super geil !!!
If you haven't already, get flood lights around your property. You would not want Bigfoot stealing your bikes.
Get on board with the timelapses please :D
Can i go in there for a ride!! 😀
It might be time for a Seth Alvo collaboration video?
How's the elevation looking
is this propery in bonaqua
your backyard?
Был бы у меня такой грунт, я бы был суперменом блять
What you need is an excavator and a skid steer problem solved... 👊💥💥💥💥🤣🤣🤣🤣
