The Broadway musical version of "La Cage aux Folles", was co-created by Harvey Fierstein (of Torch Song Trilogy, Independence Day, Mulan). Who would later go on to play Robin William's brother in "Mrs. Doubtfire".
Oh really?? I didn't know he was the one who adapted Folles for Broadway! All I remembered was that Kelsey Grammer starred in it, but that was about it. Cool! Thank you for sharing this :)

Yay!! And I'm glad we showed up in your feed!!! You know TH-cam sometimes lol. Neither of us have seen V/V, and THANK YOU for reminding me about it!! A few other people have strongly recommended it, and I love Julie Andrews, so I think it would be an instant favorite for us.
Thanks for the re-viewing review - a fun time with you two and this delight of a movie. I hope you are making it through the heat and avoiding the tornadoes!!
My wife an I watched this a long, long time ago and we quote "One does need a hint of color" to this day. We were so lucky to see Nathan Lane in "The Producers" on Broadway just before 911.
I'll never get tired of this movie. It's a gem. Not without its problems, but the cast kills it, and it just makes me feel better. Rarely a day goes by that I don't quote some line from this movie.
Absolutely one I watch over and over and that’s how I found you! Just subbed - loved how much you both appreciated this, I felt like I was yet to find reactors that have appreciated this as it deserves so thank you! ✨
I LOVE Marc's shirt! It's adorable. I don't know how I've been out for 22 years and have never heard of this movie until my husband mentioned that y'all were reacting to it. I'm glad you did because I NEEDED to watch this during this pride month. This movie's message of being true to you is something I think we all need to hear. The "not tiny" comment had me cracking up honestly. I love that they dressed everyone in drag to get them out of the building without being recognized. It was probably my favorite scene. This movie was so well written, well cast, and well shot. It's definitely become one of my favorites. Thank you for reacting to it so I knew it was a thing lol.
I do not want to be THAT guy because I hate when people do this, but HOW HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THIS MOVIE?? lol. With your taste and general knowledge of all things awesome, I am shocked SHOCKED. lol. Ok, as your husband says, "Rant over." ;) I'm so glad you watched this though, and definitely see the whole movie if you haven't. This is one of those that kills my soul to edit because there are dozens and dozens of excellent lines that I had to leave out.
Since you said you love trivia! The scene where Robin Williams was freaking out over the soup and he falls, not in the script, totally accidental and you can actually see the son and agador actually break character for a split second but Robin keeps it going. RIP to the legend Robin Williams.
THANK YOU, Thaïs Seachick!! This is EXACTLY the kind of trivia I love! I will have to go back and rewatch for their facial expressions now. So glad you commented and shared this.
Watching Nathan Lane go from this to the film adaptation of the stage version of The Producers is just hilarious. The guy goes from drag queen to horny movie producer trying to blackmail little old ladies. "I want you to know that even though we're sitting down, we're giving you a standing ovation." Bravo to him for going all in with these characters. And Robin Williams (RIP) is one of the top American comedians of all time. A lot of comedians nix the stand up once they start making big Hollywood money because of all the work involved in creating an original 1 hour special. Robin never did. Apparently he had a brain tumour causing excruciating pain. Not the way I'd want to go out.
This film is pure brilliance. Amazing actors. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams are just so hillarious but also so believable as a older couple. And how tastefully this film takes sensitive matter, makes it comedy that has fun, yet its so respectful while dealing matter that still causes strong feelings for and against. Thank you for two of you reacting this film even you have seen this
A little known "easter egg" is that the dancer with the gum, to whom Robbie Williams says "Madonna, Madonna, Madonna" was actually Luca Tommassini, one of Madonna's dancers around that period, from The Girlie Show, the Human Nature MV, etc...
I had forgotten how many great lines there are in this movie! We have Pride in my city today, but I didn't feel like going this year, so this was an excellent alternative. Happy Pride, you two! I loved this reaction, Fam! 🌈
Fun fact, Steve Martin was supposed to play the Robin Williams part, and Robin was supposed to play the Nathan Lane part. But Steve couldn't do it for whatever reason, so they switched Robin to the Armand part and auditioned Nathan for the Albert part and the rest is history! LOL
Such a fun movie! So glad you reacted to it even though you’ve seen it before. Marc picked a great drink to go along with it. I didn’t join y’all with a drink this time, but I’m going to a cider house later today, and I’ll have one in your honor!
Oh heck yeah- cider house!! Sounds great. Thank you so much- I don't think you could ever see this movie too many times. It's just so funny. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend :)
OMG I’m going to Amazon right now!!!!!!! Genius! Thank you UPDATE: Sadly, I finally found a shirt Amazon doesn’t have. Boooooo. If you find it, let me know.
I don’t know if anyone commented on this yet, but there are only a few in Probz in this movie. But the one that I like the best was not an improv per se, but rather a mistake that they tried to cover up. When Robin Williams falls in the kitchen, you can see the guy who plays his son is breaking character, but Hank Azaria held it together somehow! Robin even started to break character a bit, too. This whole movie is hilarious and heartwarming. Thank you for choosing it! 💙💙💙
Hey there!! Yeah, I have heard that now, but only recently. I did not know it at the time, but just goes to show you what great actors they all are, right??
I love this movie! No matter how many times I watch it I laugh my butt off every time!! Everyone is so perfect in their characters, it could never be remade & be half as good as this one.
Guy's I had such a good time spending time with you two. You seem like a really wonderful couple, so well suited to each other, so much that is similar and more that is complimentary...Two really good-natured, savvy warm-spirited, and generous guys, two genuine life-lovers...Thanks for making this, my maybe 5th viewing of this film the most enjoyable.
This movie helped me with my bisexuality, i never understood why i liked having a bit of purple, pink and flashy colours in my wardrobe until this movie then i knew about my other side lol I agree with Albert/Nathan, One does want a HINT of colour, and damn proud of it” The way he carries himself, the way he is dressed so perfectly with class and dignity in drag or out, it’s amazing.
Oh my! I love this movie! I laughed so much during your review. “Try another piece of gum.” Nathan is hysterical in this movie! Robin must have ad libed a lot of the movie. Their chemistry made this one of the best comedies. I have to agree with you that this would be hysterical fun to see on stage. 😂
It's a hysterical movie, right?? And you know what, I've been surprised to find out how many of these seemingly ad libbed movies/shows are actually followed pretty closely to the script. Schitt's Creek is another one that I'm not sure if you watched, but I thought it had to be pretty improvised as well. Nope, almost 100% true to the lines on the page, apparently.
I have a few movies that I can watch again and again. The Birdcage is at the top of the list. Watching you 2 watch it made me laugh twice as much! Have you seen Victor/Victoria? Another awesome one IMO.
Absolutely fantastic reaction. This is in my top ten of movies. I've watched it repeatedly since I saw it in the cinema. Such an incredible cast all at the top of their game.❤
Aww thank you Beth!! This is an easy one though because it's just such a great movie! I thank Jeebus that they have not tried to "reboot" this movie, although I realize that's a little hypocritical since this one is a remake of La Cage. But I don't care lol
@@DavidvsFilm well it's a user friendly version of La Cage! 😊 Oh I'm sure some idiot will come along and "discover" this as a retro classic and decide to remake it🤦🏻♀️😭 All the teenagers will be astonished by the representation in the writing and originality by the director 🤣🤣🤣
I have seen The Birdcage countless times. But loved watching it with y’all. I have still never seen the original La Cage Aux Folles. But I heard that the role of Agador in the original was supposed to be a black actor. But the producer thought that wouldn’t play well in an Americanized version. David Alan Grier from In Living Color fame was to be cast, but got replaced last minute by Hank Azaria.
Hey Don! Oh really?? I didn't know that! I could see him doing that role, actually. I don't know why I've never watched La Cage.. but still never have. Probably because I would just be temped to put this version on again instead haha. Thank you so much for watching with us and for sharing this trivia!! :)
Happy PRIDE gentlemen! I'll be wearing my PRIDE rainbow socks to church tomorrow for my HINT of color and crossing my legs and sitting "man spread" as often as possible. One does what one can for representation. 😘👨❤👨🌈🏳🌈
Nathan Lane may be the only person to outshine Robin Williams on film. (Of course that is subjective.) Steve Martin was originally scheduled to play Armand, with Williams as Albert but Martin had scheduling issues. Williams was happy with the change because he figured he had done enough drag after Mrs Doubtfire. Hank Azaria was inadvertently mimicking his grandmother. Williams slip in the kitchen was not intentional.
I love all of this! Thank you for the trivia. I know it's always tricky to picture others playing roles after we've had decades seeing those who were actually cast, but I cannot imagine Steve Martin as Armand lol. And I love Steve Martin stuff, but in this role, nah. Hank Azaria was so great.
I love you guys so much!!! I love watching yalls reactions but i think i like watching your responses to each other just as much. I swear my favorite part of this video was when marc hit you and the look yall shared!!💖🫠 And happy pride!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Hey there my friend!!! Yeah, totally! It's funny you say this because I always check to see if a movie has many reactions out there (is it something people are interested in, will my channel fit with the other reactions, etc.), and I was really surprised there weren't more videos for The Birdcage. Marc and I do very few reactions to movies that we've both already seen, but that relative underrepresentation is a lot of what led met to choose this one to watch anyway. :)
Thank you so much!!! To Wong Foo is so great ♥️♥️ We quote that movie all the time. Marc came in last night and said, “I am hot and tired..” and I said, “Hot and tired: that’s your theme!”
Love this movie. I never get tired of watching it. I hope you do get to see Le Cage Aux Folles someday. I saw it before I watched The Birdcage and love them both. They're both hilarious. Totally agree with David that this would be a wonderful stage play.
It was a play and was adapted from it. I saw the French version first which was very funny too. This was hilarious! Seeing Gene Hackman as a woman was hilarious. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were priceless. Everyone was so good. RIP Robin!
HAPPY PRIDE ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I love to see you guys watch something that you love!! I mean i love the blind watch throughs of course, but it’s just SO JOYFUL to see you reminisce on a movie you love!!
Thank you!!! Yeah I totally agree. I mean, this can't compete with you guys' astute assessment of the latent tendencies of Top Gun, but we do our best haha ;)
haha yeah, a play that I would enjoy seeing :) Do you know what the differences are between La Cage and this movie? I assume it's pretty close, but maybe some minor detail differences?
What you said at 22:16 is so true! Whats socially and politically acceptable yo-yo's back and forth from being conservative to more progressive and I'm just REALLY looking forward to when we go back to more progressive times. The anti gay and anti trans legislation breaks my heart. Im a bisexual woman with conservative parents that I'm not out to and to be frank, their support for politicians that demonize drag queens and trans people has me about this close to making an Albert style scene at the next family dinner lol
this was originally a play, in France, then a film, then an american film! my favourite BTS tidbit was the scene with soup in the kitchen and robin slipping was a blooper that they just rolled with. I love how Hank Azaria hides his laughter only to return with "The Prawns!?" And of course, Robin Williams doing his "madonna, madonna" routine in rehearsals apparently took SO MANY takes because "mr. i chew gum to help me think" wouldnt stop breaking character every time lol i also say, "i do not wear shoes. they make me fall down" way too much in my everyday life::)
That opening scene with the camera coming in over the water to Miami Beach was a through back to the old “Jackie Gleason Show”. And yea the “Art Deco” area is still there, right across the road from the beach. Cheers
I wanted to say (but saw the title at the description above and mentioned at the beginning of the video by David, but gonna mention it anyway lol) that ''The Birdcage'' is a remake of the French comedy classic ''La Cage aux Folles'' (1978) by Édouard Molinaro, with Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault and music score by (my hero) Ennio Morricone.
Aww thank you so much!!!! This is one of those videos we both love doing - from watching, to editing, to chatting with awesome people like you about it - it's so much fun. I hope you have a great weekend, Roxy!!!! Much love back to you from us.
I remember when this came out. SUCH a fun film!!! I had seen the original La Cage aux Folles film on TV when I was in, like, middle school, I think? So I knew the twist at the beginning revealing that Val was their son rather than an affair, but I really enjoyed this remake SO much. It had an absolutely phenomenal cast and was just so incredibly funny. La Cage IS a stage production, as well, and the stage version gave us the iconic pride song "I Am What I Am". I haven't seen the stage version personally, but I've seen some performances on TH-cam of that song, and they're pretty much all great, though I think my favorite is by John Barrowman. Really enjoyed this reaction and needed that bit of fun after a very disappointing end to pride month (Supreme Court decisions, more of my home state of Florida's anti-LGBTQ+ laws going into effect, etc.). Thank y'all for this reaction!
Awww thank you so much for your amazing comment!! I greatly appreciate it, and I am so glad you liked the reaction. I firmly believe that it's impossible not to have fun while watching this movie. I haven't seen La Cage, thought I want to. Either on TV or in the theater- I'm down for it haha
Great reaction David & Marc! 😊 And Happy Pride month to you both. 🌈 RIP always to the late great Robin Williams! This is such a great movie that always puts a smile on my face whenever I watch it. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams are fantastic in this. Another great Robin Williams movie that I very highly recommend if neither of you have seen is the 1991 movie "Hook". Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Thank you so much, you wonderful friend!! Yeah, Hook was one of THOSE movies for me when I was a kid that I watched ON REPEAT. I doubt Marc has seen it, but I definitely have. Rufio! Rufio!
So many lines from this movie pop up in my normal, everyday conversation. Mostly Hank Azaria's haha. "My choos make me fall down." "Fck the chrimp." "My Hwatamalan heat." First time I saw this (when it came out), it was in a massive theater that was packed... I had to go see it 2 more times in the theater to catch all the dialog! Brilliant!
Hahahaha it's so good. Marc has been saying, "My hwatamalaness, my natural latin heat.." all over again since we watched this. And I say, "You're wasting your gum" at least twice a month. So we're right there with you lol
Great cast! Wonderful film! I've seen a number of times as well. The dinner party is the best. Williams has to play it so close to the vest; while Lane just gets to cut loose. Which shows the real talent of Robin Williams. Not only to allow Lane to out shine him, but to put in the perfect straight man for Lane's craziness. Hank Azaria is a riot through this entire film, and is a joy to watch. Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest was perfect in their roles, and fit into this comedy brilliantly. This was Calista Flockhart's biggest movie roles; which really got her, her own show on Ally McBeal.
Hubs is an electrician (IBEW!) in Michigan. He likes working the solar field (building new ones) and he has his pick. It's great and (wait for it....) they create TONS of jobs.
I had to wait to watch but... WORTH IT!! It was progressive considering Robin helped keep the questions about Nathan's sexuality at bay since he wasn't ready to be fully out at the time. Love love love this movie. Thanks for watching it again with us!
Fun Fact: most of the songs that the main actors sing were written by the late great Stephen Sondheim. He wrote one original song that was used for the scene with the bubble gum chewing dancer, the others (the beginning of Starina's number and the scene with Robin Williams and Christine Baranski dancing) were songs that got cut from Stephen Sondheim's musicals.
The building that the club is in is the same building seen in the Golden Palace tv series. (The Golden Palace hotel.) Also, the green leaf wallpaper in the club is the same wallpaper in Blanche Devereaux’ bedroom.

I remember seeing this in the movie theater that's closest to the gay village here in Toronto. It was hilarious to watch with a full audience. 😂 It's funny how David said this would be fun as a stage play, because the whole La Cage aux Folles thing began as a play in Paris, in 1973. Then they made the French-Italian movie in 1978 (followed by two sequels). And of course the Broadway musical in 1983. 💖🎶 You'd love the 1978 movie. It's a BLAST! Also when you said it's a movie you watch over and over. My mom says it's one of the few movies she'll watch every time she comes across it on TV.
Oh I bet I would like La Cage, and I really need to watch it. I just don't see how anyone could watch this and not enjoy it on SOME level if not all levels. Exactly why I bet this was totally fun to watch with a full audience :)

Yay!! And I'm glad we showed up in your feed!!! You know TH-cam sometimes lol. Neither of us have seen V/V, and THANK YOU for reminding me about it!! A few other people have strongly recommended it, and I love Julie Andrews, so I think it would be an instant favorite for us.
OMG YAAAASSSSS! Excellent suggestion! That movie is amazing!
Thanks for the re-viewing review - a fun time with you two and this delight of a movie. I hope you are making it through the heat and avoiding the tornadoes!!
Thanks Jeff!!! Doing our best. Probably should have watched Twister this coming week lol
I really like the term “re-view review” to describe reacting to a previous watch!!
My wife an I watched this a long, long time ago and we quote "One does need a hint of color" to this day. We were so lucky to see Nathan Lane in "The Producers" on Broadway just before 911.
Oh wow, that's great that you got to see him on Broadway! Nothing like the vibe of seeing live performances.
@@DavidvsFilm He was nothing short of amazing.
I'll never get tired of this movie. It's a gem. Not without its problems, but the cast kills it, and it just makes me feel better. Rarely a day goes by that I don't quote some line from this movie.
Yes!!! So true :)
Absolutely one I watch over and over and that’s how I found you! Just subbed - loved how much you both appreciated this, I felt like I was yet to find reactors that have appreciated this as it deserves so thank you! ✨
Oh wow thank you so much!! That is high praise ♥️ Yeah it’s easy with such a great movie like this. I mean how can you not love it, right???
Such a great comment, thank you!!! That line about the standing ovation hahaha. And I didn’t know that about his brain tumor :(
He’s a fantastic performer! He’s in the first season of Only Murders In the building!
Thank you for two of you reacting this film even you have seen this
Thank you so much, @thejamppa, you are so right! And to do all of that in a way that appeared so effortless is truly remarkable. Excellent acting.
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
A little known "easter egg" is that the dancer with the gum, to whom Robbie Williams says "Madonna, Madonna, Madonna" was actually Luca Tommassini, one of Madonna's dancers around that period, from The Girlie Show, the Human Nature MV, etc...
Get out of here, whaaat??? That’s awesome! Thank you- I didn’t know this.
I have seen this movie 100 times! Love watching you watch this one 😊
Aww thank you my friend!!! I LOVE that we picked one of your favorites to watch ♥️
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
I had forgotten how many great lines there are in this movie! We have Pride in my city today, but I didn't feel like going this year, so this was an excellent alternative. Happy Pride, you two! I loved this reaction, Fam! 🌈
Oh that's awesome, thank you!! That makes me feel great :) Woohoo!!!
Nathan Lane played the biggest drama queen, EVER!!! So goddamn funny!! Hank in those giant shoes tho.. HAHAHA!! Such a fun movie and reaction guys!! ❤
Right?? Even at home Marc is like, "Yeah I can't compete with that.." lol. Thank you chica ♥️
@@DavidvsFilm lmao, I can't think of anyone off hand that does.. lol..
"One Does Want A Hint Of Color'" would make a great t-shirt.
OMG I’m going to Amazon right now!!!!!!! Genius! Thank you
UPDATE: Sadly, I finally found a shirt Amazon doesn’t have. Boooooo. If you find it, let me know.
I know there's none. But maybe you can make your own. A black t-shirt with colored letters.
@@kalphil4385 Excellent idea!
Lol I’d do it in black letter on a rainbow shirt….a little “extra” in tribute to Albert.
Could not agree more to all of this!!
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
What an amazing comment and compliment, thank you!! I’m so glad you liked our video. Birdcage is so much fun- it’s like Pirin tablet for the soul lol
This movie helped me with my bisexuality, i never understood why i liked having a bit of purple, pink and flashy colours in my wardrobe until this movie
then i knew about my other side lol
I agree with Albert/Nathan, One does want a HINT of colour, and damn proud of it”
The way he carries himself, the way he is dressed so perfectly with class and dignity in drag or out,
it’s amazing.
That’s awesome!! I was just about to write, “One does want a hint of color..” but you beat me to it. :) Thanks for checking out our reaction!
Oh my! I love this movie! I laughed so much during your review. “Try another piece of gum.”
Nathan is hysterical in this movie!
It took me a minute to realise you didn't have your grey shirt over your head Bungholio style :P
I have a few movies that I can watch again and again. The Birdcage is at the top of the list. Watching you 2 watch it made me laugh twice as much! Have you seen Victor/Victoria? Another awesome one IMO.
Aww thank you!!! That makes my night. Haven't seen V/V, but I've ONLY heard great things. It's on the list ;)
@@DavidvsFilm One of my faves. It can get a little slow in parts, but Julie Andrews on top of her game!
This is one of my all-time comfort movies!! It just gets better and better💖💖
This is one of my all time favorite movies but have you seen the original La Cage aux Folles? If not you must see it 🙂
Hi Gail!! My buddy!! No we sure haven’t. But I of course trust your judgment, so we will.
Oh I'm sure some idiot will come along and "discover" this as a retro classic and decide to remake it🤦🏻♀️😭 All the teenagers will be astonished by the representation in the writing and originality by the director 🤣🤣🤣
It's a great movie, terrific performances from all. Just seeing Gene Hackman's character in drag was in itself worth the price of admission. :)
I LOVE this movie. I rewatch it regularly. I am excited to watch with you.
Thank you so much!! Yes, I agree that it is TOP NOTCH comedy
@@DavidvsFilm Just got through watching. Y'all made me laugh even harder than I usually do. Love to you both!!
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
I feel the same way. This version is so amazing that I can’t picture anything else. Nathan Lane outshines Robin Williams by far. Such great casting.
The original (as mostly) is so much better.
Albert walking out with just the toothbruch, that was a Nathan Lane improv.
I love it! Hilarious.
So glad I discovered this channel! Subscribed!
Thank you so much!!! We’re glad too 😁♥️

I saw it on Broadway… brilliant and hilarious 😂
Oh yeah? I bet that was great! I assume it was a musical on Broadway, or did they go the play route?
I LOVE "The Birdcage," one of my favourites!

I'll be here waiting
This is up there on my list of favourite movies. Its so much fun, I love it. X
It's so good!!
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
Nathan Lane may be the only person to outshine Robin Williams on film. (Of course that is subjective.)
Steve Martin was originally scheduled to play Armand, with Williams as Albert but Martin had scheduling issues.
Sweet fluffy lord, I do love this film! Gene Hackman in drag 😂❤ the men in this film knocked it out of the park!
Ok now I have to literally work in “Sweet fluffy lord” at every opportunity. lol. That’s hilarious.

What an underrated movie.
In my humble opinion this Hollywood junk can't compete with the French original in the slightest.
Absolutely underrated. It probably pissed off so many right wing loons.
@fayesouthall6604 Nope. My parents are right winged AF, but love this movie and showed it to me when I was a kid because it's a good movie
The kitchen scene was adlib, when Robin fell ! He got tickled but they kept it ! Great movie!❤
This is one of my MOST FAVORITE movies, (next to Too Wong Foo....of course 😏). I have just subscribed so I am looking forward to watching you guys 😍.

Thanks!!! We will for sure have to check out La Cage ;)
It was a play and was adapted from it. I saw the French version first which was very funny too. This was hilarious! Seeing Gene Hackman as a woman was hilarious. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were priceless. Everyone was so good. RIP Robin!
In a movie full of legendary performers.... I mean.... Nathan Lane is brilliant....
but....
Hank Azaria steals a LOT of the show!!

Thank you!!! Yeah I totally agree. I mean, this can't compete with you guys' astute assessment of the latent tendencies of Top Gun, but we do our best haha ;)
As you guys kept saying this could be a play, I kept saying it is based on a play. lol
haha yeah, a play that I would enjoy seeing :) Do you know what the differences are between La Cage and this movie? I assume it's pretty close, but maybe some minor detail differences?
@@DavidvsFilm I'm late but I never saw the play

You are entirely correct. This would be an amazing play and I want to see it right now.
A fun night at the theatAH! ;)
Hi David and Marc what a wonderful start to my weekend love watching with you two 🪻🌹❤️
What's up Theresa!!! Aww thank you ♥️♥️♥️
this was originally a play, in France, then a film, then an american film! my favourite BTS tidbit was the scene with soup in the kitchen and robin slipping was a blooper that they just rolled with. I love how Hank Azaria hides his laughter only to return with "The Prawns!?"
And of course, Robin Williams doing his "madonna, madonna" routine in rehearsals apparently took SO MANY takes because "mr. i chew gum to help me think" wouldnt stop breaking character every time lol
i also say, "i do not wear shoes. they make me fall down" way too much in my everyday life::)
That opening scene with the camera coming in over the water to Miami Beach was a through back to the old “Jackie Gleason Show”. And yea the “Art Deco” area is still there, right across the road from the beach. Cheers
This movie is my happy pill!! ❤🎉one of the best ever !! … i need my wine for this! And Happy Pride ❤️❤️
Right?? I don’t know how anyone could watch this movie and not laugh multiple times lol
@@DavidvsFilmit is the greatest!
Your 'pirin tablet 😉
I wanted to say (but saw the title at the description above and mentioned at the beginning of the video by David, but gonna mention it anyway lol) that ''The Birdcage'' is a remake of the French comedy classic ''La Cage aux Folles'' (1978) by Édouard Molinaro, with Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault and music score by (my hero) Ennio Morricone.
Haha thanks Peter!!! We need to watch the original :) I have not seen that one, but I know about it.

Forgot about this gem.! Thx 😄😄
Haha yeah, so good. Thanks for checking out the reaction!
I watch this at least once a year. Hahaha Love it
I remember when this came out.
It's one of my all-time favorites. I still cry laughing at this movie
How could you NOT feel better after watching this movie??
Great reaction David & Marc! 😊 And Happy Pride month to you both. 🌈
RIP always to the late great Robin Williams!
I also like ‘I made it up, I made it up’ 😂
This was, and still is, a terrific film! Funny as can be!
Couldn’t agree more!! So good.
❤ this movie! Awesome cast!!
I completely agree with you!
Hubs is an electrician (IBEW!) in Michigan. He likes working the solar field (building new ones) and he has his pick. It's great and (wait for it....) they create TONS of jobs.
Great reaction guys. I absolutely love this movie. I think it was perfectly cast. Happy Pride!
Thank you so much!!! I agree with you, of course- excellent cast, such a great movie.
I had to wait to watch but... WORTH IT!! It was progressive considering Robin helped keep the questions about Nathan's sexuality at bay since he wasn't ready to be fully out at the time. Love love love this movie. Thanks for watching it again with us!
Thanks Nik!!! ;)
Get out of here! All these years, and I never knew that. That’s very interesting, thank you so much
The building that the club is in is the same building seen in the Golden Palace tv series.

It's funny how David said this would be fun as a stage play, because the whole La Cage aux Folles thing began as a play in Paris, in 1973.
I am sure you can find a film of the musical from Broadway, it played for many years. Peter Marshall from 'Hollywood Squares' played Armond.
Oh really?? Ok, I'll have to get out my Nancy Drew skills and see if I can track it down ;)
Nathan Lane's recent character on _Only Murders in the Building_ shows he can pull off any kind of character.
