      @circe-ev1fl Good Day, I didn't analyze it that intensely. I never read the Odyssey by Homer. It was just moderately entertaining to me. I only know one Telemachus. The boy who had the 5 loaves and 2 fishes 🥖🐟 when Jesus fed the masses. Have a Blessed and Beautiful Day ✝️📖

    You have to understand that the movie is a very condensed adaptation of the book. This incarnation of Jacoppo is a composite of at least 3 characters I could recall. In the book Jacoppo was indeed the smuggler that helped Dantes find the treasure of Monte Cristo. But for the rest of the movie this guy is really playing more the character Bertuccio, who is the loyal right-hand man of the count, and a little bit of Haydee.

    • @hella6513
      @hella6513 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Argentine version is 2 hours long and kept Haydee in the story and the count stays with her.
      th-cam.com/video/Im_PU2sM7cg/w-d-xo.html
      The 1967 version of Anna Karenina simplified the story because of the limitation of time, but the participation of Kitty and Levin was reduced, kept it close to the book Anna and vronsky And did not change the ending. Anna's suicide was maintained.

      The 2002 version as a alone film is terrible and the adaptation is mediocre.
      The film has so many problems. Alexandre Dumas read Homer the book is inspired by The Odyssey. Ulysses avoided direct confrontations and used his cunning because he was at a disadvantage. Edmond avoided direct confrontation because he was a foreigner (he assumed a new identity) and could not seek direct confrontation with members of the French elite.
      Dumas read about the relationship of Helen and Menelaus in the Odyssey. Menelua needed to use drugs to try to forget Helen's years in Troy and her suffering. Edmond would never forget that Mercedes was married to Fernand and had sex with him. It's very difficult to believe that a man in Edmond's position would deal with his ex-fiancée who was married to his worst enemy and had sex with him. Just remember that in Hollywood films we never see a man killing his wife for being unfaithful, but it happens a lot in real life.
      Haydee didn't have bitter memories for Edmond, but Mercedes did.

      Haydee is much prettier and in real life she would be chosen by Edmond.
      Real life proves this. During the filming of The Prisoner of Château d'If (1988) by Georgi Yungvald-Khilkevich, the married director falls in love with the beautiful Nadira Mirzaeva who played Haydee and the two become lovers. Afterwards he abandons his wife to marry Nadira.
      Nothing better than real life confirming the theories of Alexandre Dumas.
      Hollywood films are scripts written by ignorant people. The count of Mount Chrysot is a literary classic.

      @@crusaderz_fire3168 Honestly, i'd say we still have the same culture and ethics in the majority of the world, but the upper class in a few of the developed countries have convinced themselves that isn't the case. Also, they've convinced quite a few people that showing weakness or mercy to the wolves of the world will somehow make the world a better place and somehow prevent the wolf from eating them. That naivety/naivete' is what gets people killed every single day. It's a hard and dangerous world we live in. I do appreciate your appeal to empathy and understanding though even if I disagree with the projected outcome.

      To be fair the count of monte cristo is a doorstop of a book. Only a TV series with a season or two could possibly do it justice. Even so I do like this movie. There are certain liberties that had to be taken, plot elements changed, characters merged cut or changed but I think they did the best they could. For ambitious of a project as this is they did a good job and the movie is entertaining in it's own right even if it is not faithful to the original story. The book is a slow burn with layers of plot, story, characters, etc. The movie cannot be. Yes I prefer the book but this movie wasn't bad.
