Don’t get me wrong When he interviews new artist from the last decade , the interviews are good But when he interviews legends that been around 15-30 years It hits different. They’re so magical . Especially nardwaur being older I’m sure it excites him more when artist bring up how the past was. I wish I was a teenager in the 80s/90s
I feel the same. They absolutely respect it too because some journalists from today don't do their homework on the old school but nardwuar makes them feel seen.
I really like the ones with these older guys, some of the younger get guys either don't get it or don't appreciate an interviewer who asks great questions. Most of the older guys seem like they can let their persona down and just be themselves for a little
Same , I met him too and he was very genuine and kind . Talked with my son and I for around 20 minutes. I ran Kansa City Underground Sound and Rap Kc , Cunt Punt Wrekkids and he talked about underground , house music Midwest rappers and blues musicians with us.
Nardwuar is absolutely music royalty, he definitely belongs in the Rock and Roll hall of fame for journalism. Hopefully he will be (as a old man) like a griot, someone who would sit around the proverbial campfire and tell stories of all the artist he met and interviewed. He also welcomed to the "cookout".
Never expected this one! I had the pleasure of seeing Snoop, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, Bone Thugs, Afroman & Warren G in Calgary, front row, a few years back. Got to speak to Warren G for a bit and give a quick tribute/shoutout to Nate Dogg. Warren G immediately changed his set, threw up a Nate Dogg backdrop & performed Regulators. 100% one of the greatest nights of my life and an experience / memory that I will never forget. Thanks for that Warren G!!
Damn this is not only an interview, but this is a west coast/gfunk history lesson with Warren G giving the whole detail. Nardwuar has put me on a lot of music in the youtube era. 2 OGs right here.
I’m from Vancouver; nard goes to a local record spot downtown that has TONS of classics & picks up records from there to do the interviews. Not all the records are his own - he borrows them for the interview & returns them.
That Michael McDonald sample was Genius! Dope af love these cats that bring these records back to life and lead us back to great gems. I always appreciate both records equally and listen to both versions constantly 🙌
This is an all time great Nardwuar interview. I love when he goes deep and the interviewee is receptive to it and open to sharing their story. Great stuff Nard!
I talked to Warren G on the phone when I worked at a call center for Sprint. The bad thing is it didn't hit me it was him until the second we hung up, everything just clicked. His name, address, his security password thing... I wanted to call him back but I couldn't figure out a reason without getting in trouble and possibly annoying him
Fun fact: there was a Def Jam FFNY tournament that was held in Tampa 3 weeks ago and the player “hoodiebatman” won the grand finals using only Warren G. And he’s actually from New York
Warren g has been one of the nicest dudes in hiphop for over 25 years....and totally underrated cause he has some absolute banger but people often remember him from regulate...but what about that opera track igor?? I think, not sure...the transformer track is a classic too...but he radiates chillness, a huge inspiration for me not just musically but as a person and artist...great guy and this video just confirms it...Nard a legend forever btw, absolute hiphop royalty...
What a wholesome video, you can tell Warren G has so much respect for Nard and was super impressed with the questions and gifts he brought him. As an LA native, thank you for always showing our OG’s so much love nardwuar. You’ll always be invited to the asada/bbq out here ❤️👐
Thank you for this Nardwuar. There was only 2 tapes in my life I remember popping multiple times from playing them so much. And one of those was the single This DJ by Warren G. It got to the point I had to make copies by chewing small pieces of paper and stuffing them in the anti-copying slots on the top of cassettes so I could record over. This was also how I was able to copy songs from the radio and why every song on my mix tapes was missing the first 5 seconds of the track. All of this, I got to remember fondly because of this interview. Thanks for the trip down memory lane sir.
Thank you Nardwuar!!
❤
Yo, your interview was above average, pimp.
The legend himself is here!❤️
Legend
LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big shout out to Warren G, that is a straight OG in rap. Genius
For one of the biggest legends in hip hop history, Warren G seems really humble
Yea.. it's dope dude is a pioneer
"Damn Nardwuar you good? You done froze up on me" lol
😂😂 doesn’t get better than this!! 👌🏽👏🏽🎤🗿

He regulated himself 😂

I was thinking exactly the same thing! Good looking out!
I really like the ones with these older guys, some of the younger get guys either don't get it or don't appreciate an interviewer who asks great questions. Most of the older guys seem like they can let their persona down and just be themselves for a little
Never thought of it this way, but it’s true
Technology ruined the teenage experience imo - we were a lot more free & a lot less anxious.
Warren G is always smiling.Met him in Edmonton and can say he's one of the friendliest artists I ever met.. Regulators forever!!
same same. had a nice chat about how wild summers
are in Ireland. “sun didn't go down till 11 son!” A quality human

The way he rattled off his United Teams spiel from muscle memory all these years later was sweet

Nardwuar been hosting the cookout and the women gather around to fix him a plate

Truly feel Nard prefers interviewing an OG like this for the stories he brings. Sure can bring back memories for himself
Mannnnn you gotta let Warren keep those records!!
Nard you just pulled out my whole early high school tape collection on this man and asked him all about them... Nostalgia level 5000!
Nardwuar is a legend.
Yes, indeed
Damn this is not only an interview, but this is a west coast/gfunk history lesson with Warren G giving the whole detail.
Nardwuar has put me on a lot of music in the youtube era. 2 OGs right here.

one of my favorite interviews. I could tell Nardwuar loves to collect those old skool rap records lol
😂😂😂 i love when you say is from your collection
If he bought it, its from his collection 🥸☝🏻
I’m from Vancouver; nard goes to a local record spot downtown that has TONS of classics & picks up records from there to do the interviews. Not all the records are his own - he borrows them for the interview & returns them.
His crate question reminded me of Quik, "we don't just sample the song, we appreciate the music they released".
That Michael McDonald sample was Genius! Dope af love these cats that bring these records back to life and lead us back to great gems. I always appreciate both records equally and listen to both versions constantly 🙌
Warren G is such a nice dude. What a legend
We need a DJ QUIK interview pleeeease!!!

Warren G was as classy and cool as I expected him to be 🔥
Nice and long interview!

I swear these type of interviews with OG artists is like a breath of fresh air. Always gotta give the legends their flowers. 🙏🏼💯
I love how Nard brings out items from his personal collection when he’s interviewing the OG’s cuz he knows they will appreciate them
Yeah Nard. This is what we need

Holy F'n F Warren G.
Watching everyone involuntarily say "how do you know this?" - even though they know the answer - is a real treat. Thanks Nard(stayhard)Wuar
