    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Batman (Val Kilmer) saves both Robin (Chris O'Donnell) and Chase (Nicole Kidman), thus foiling The Riddler (Jim Carrey) and his twisted scheme.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Joel Schumacher inherited the Batman franchise from Tim Burton and began steering it in the campier direction of the Sixties television show with this third installment. First-time Batman/Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer), in his only outing as the Caped Crusader, is effectively brooding as he ponders strange dreams about his parents' death and escapes his own near-demise at the hands of Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones), a former district attorney driven insane and turned into a master criminal when a gangster throws acid in his face. Meanwhile, as sexy psychologist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) tries to analyze and seduce both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Wayne Enterprises employee Edward Nygma (Jim Carrey) reacts badly to getting fired, using his self-invented mind-energy device to transform into the super-intelligent Riddler. The Riddler teams up with Two-Face to bring down Batman and drain the minds of Gotham City residents with his device, while Batman gets some much-needed help in the form of circus performer Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell), out for vengeance after being orphaned by Two-Face.

Val Kilmer was an underrated Batman. Considering the screenplay he had to work with, compared to what Bale and Keaton were given, he did a very good job with the material.

I always loved this film. After Returns being darker and scaring the hell out of me, I was ready for this and knew it would be different. It had the cool collectible cups and the awesome soundtrack. It was not meant to be Burton's films. Unfortunately, with the next installment and the Nolan films, this has gotten overshadowed.

He was the best Batman and the best Bruce in the BurtonVerse. I felt like that was the peak in terms of his character. He was struggling because he wanted to be Bruce and Batman but by the end of this movie he came to acceptance of who he is.

Kilmer was the only guy to nail the Batman voice if you think about it. Keaton whispered which Batman does not do and people overrate Keaton because the writing was so much better in the first Batman. Clooney was terrible and Bale was over the top with the Batman voice. Affleck needed a voice enhancer.

no hassle I love Keaton, but I didn't really like how they handled the Bruce Wayne persona. Kilmer is my favorite because even when he's not in the Batsuit he still talks in his Batman voice when he is in the cave and even around Dick and Alfred, just like in the Animated series. He also doesn't alter his voice that much, so he just sounds like he always talks in his normal voice(again just like the Animated Series). To top it off he also has the best fighting style in my opinion, he uses flips and kicks and even gadgets. Keaton is definitely a close second for me though.

What I kinda like about this scene is how they added the detail of the grapple.
Instead of a solid cable, Batman uses a more elastic one, that's a much more physically safer way to stop a fall as it slows your descent without severe whiplash.

True, and also from a logical standpoint Chase fell after Robin so it made sense for Batman to save Chase first and then accelerate the fall to save Robin. What I like too was how Robin helped Batman save him by untying his wrists so Batman could grab the rope that tied them. Showed how sometimes it takes two partners working together to save each other's lives.

al112v4 The Main Problem of Batman & Robin was that it took the campiness-level of Forever (which was tolerable there) to another level - it was even more bright, colorful and over the top (and Forever already had those attributes in spades but not so much as to make it totally headache-inducing). Plus, it was positively saturated with One-Liners and Puns. The Sum Total: It stopped being a fun Popcorn-Movie and just started to be really, REALLY dumb.

***** Because it was totally different from what we've saw from Batman on the big screen, especially Batman & Robin, of course. Sure Nolan wasn't totally "original" about his movies because manly it was inspired by the Dark Knight Returns comic books beside other stuff from the dark Batman era of the 80's, but I as said, it was different, and personally I think he did a great job, at least with the first two movies, the third one I didn't enjoyed at all.

The reason Batman presses the button and loads up the hud is because the Batarang is an acoustic Batarang and he has to lock it onto the target.
The clue is the riddle itself.
"I see without seeing, to me darkness is as bright as daylight"....
Bats target their prey using a form of acoustic sonar. They lock onto their prey by detecting sound. The Batarang was acoustic thats why it glided straight towards the target.

In The Dark Knight Rises, Batman gets his ass kicked and back broken by Bane. Then, he ends up retiring and having dinner with the woman who once set him up to be killed, who is also wearing his mother's necklace (which she stole from him). Loser.

Only thing this movie seemed to forget is Bruce Wayne/Batman's personality...he's not supposed to be a superhero or talk to people like he's a celebrity, like at the beginning of the film when he talks to Dr. Chase, "I read your work..." He's not supposed to be that warm or polite, least of all, friendly. He's supposed to be cold and mean sometimes. He does that 'superhero' pose like Superman when he says "what's wrong?"...eh...not right.

Great film! I think Batman Forever and The Dark Knight were the best Batman films.
I like what they did with Batman Forever. I liked Val Kilmer because he portrayed a more tragic Batman/Bruce Wayne. Although they lightened up the film, it was still a dark film and it maintained it's dark aspects. Batman and Robin was good, but it wasn't as good as Batman Forever. I think they got really carried away with Batman and Robin, because they did it too much like the 60s show starring Adam West and it lacked in the dark elements and aspects of the Batman mythology.

@@rainystone607 it is. Fight scenes are upgrade, you see batman 2022 getting beat up too, even making mistakes calculating his drop on jumping out of the building scene. They kind of downgraded his batmobile, and his equipment to make it look like steampunk. Its def a new look.

Paul Dano was very predictable to played him in the Matt Reeves version, but Carrey really got it, and you're right Redhawk.

Jim Carrey is a great choice to play as Dr. Robotnik. It was like the casting director saw this clip and thought to themselves "What if we can get this guy for the role?"
