+DAY-V Entertainment™ I also enjoyed Batman Forever. To me, it was the closest thing to the Batman comics as far as live-action Batman films go. Even though there were a few moments that got a little too campy, I think it still did have a good overall blend of darkness and humor.
It's too bad that the Script essentially had Riddler scheming and using the powers of the Mad Hatter rather than the Riddler. The Riddler is a bank heist guy, who does robberies so brilliant, he is compelled to leave perverse clues about his next target. The Mad Hatter is obsessed with fantasy worlds, mind control, and his social standing. And his hat is easily as silly as that gear they used in the movie.

One reason why is because of his obsession with riddles. He also had a talent for coming up with a lot of riddles in many forms of media over the years. In the comics, as a child, Edward would ask his parents a lot of questions that would occur to him (as asking questions is a good way of finding things out and learning a lot about the world). But his curiosity would usually annoy his parents. As a result, Edward vowed to become somebody who had all the answers. My daughter was 1 when she seen this movie. I know that's young but this part of the movie gave her her first real laugh that wasn't from a family member. I had to come here and show her. She has always been a fan of his and of Sonic. So when he played Dr. Eggman this year it was the perfect casting and we loved it!

Batman Forever will always be the better of the two Joel Schumacher Batmans. It had the perfect balance of humor and darkness, with Two-Face being a cold-blooded killer and The Riddler serving as a comic relief villain who is also not afraid to do his own murders. Mr. Freeze is nothing but a corny comedian who made ice puns and Poison Ivy only served as eye candy. Schumacher's Bane, on the other hand, is so bad, I refuse to talk about him.

This movie is a strong guilty pleasure for me. Why? Because if I wasn't a Jim Carrey fan, I wouldn't have watched this Batman movie and I wouldn't have became a superhero fan in the first place. So in a way, this movie is what started my path into becoming a comic book fan.

Proof that if you want to do a particular character justice, you must place the right actor into the role. In this movie's case, Edward Nygma aka The Riddler needed the over-the-top talent of Jim Carrey to do the character justice.
In the book, the TV switches through various channels (cooking show, science channel, etc) and Nygma acts like them while making his brain quips. Wish they would've included that as Jim would've made it a riot.
