    Marnie's Bio:
Canadian pianist Marnie Laird, praised as "…a technically immaculate, probing and authoritative protagonist" (The Miami Herald), enjoys an active career as a collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and soloist. Prior to founding Brooklyn Duo and Brooklyn Classical, Marnie spent three years as principal pianist of the New World Symphony in Miami under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. In high demand as a pianist in New York City, she worked with several opera companies, including the Gotham Chamber Opera, and was also on staff as a collaborative pianist at The Juilliard School after graduating. Recent performances have taken her to Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Merkin Hall, where her performance with cellist Matthew Zalkind for the Concert Artists Guild competition was broadcast live on WFMT radio.
Originally from Vancouver, BC, Marnie has been the recipient of numerous Canadian awards, including top prizes from the Canadian Music Competitions, Canadian Music Teachers' Association, and the BC Arts Council. Most notably she was awarded the Gold Medal for the highest mark in Canada on the A.R.C.T. piano performance exams. She made her solo orchestral debut at age 13 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in the Tanglewood, Music Academy of the West, Kneisel Hall, and Banff summer festivals.
Marnie received her Master’s degree in collaborative piano from The Juilliard School, where she was the recipient of a full scholarship as well as the Orchestral Piano Fellowship. She also has a Master’s in solo piano performance from The University of British Columbia. Her principal teachers include Lorraine Ambrose, Robin Wood, Jane Coop, Jonathan Feldman, and Margo Garrett.

OK, we know it LOOKS like Marnie is pregnant again, but we promise she's not! We filmed this when she was pregnant last year (that's how long Marnie has been recording this album!). Emmie loves the video now, but we don't think she realizes yet that she's also in it ;) ALSO, have you guys heard Marnie's new solo album? You can get it everywhere online, just search for "Brooklyn Classical" on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, etc.

This whole thing is so beautiful, but I really loved your work with the climax of the piece. The rhythm felt so natural and perfect there, free flowing and emotional. This performance brings me such profound peace.

I always listened to this video on my cellphone, and never commented anything, so now that I'm logged in I must say: This is the best video of this song available on youtube, I can sense the humanity and the feeling in the pressing of the tiles, its absolutely marvelous. Anyway, I felt bad for always listening, and never making a compliment about it. Thanks a lot for this video! Greetings from Brazil!

This is played with such fluidity, such emotion and it appears effortless. To say I am inspired is a gross understatement. Just listening to the gentle expression, the soft interludes in this Debussy piece, I can easily envision the Flaxen Girl who served as his inspiration for this piece. Well . . . I'm inspired to press-on in learning this piece which is fairly beyond my capability at this point but . . . so too were Venetian Boat Song and Jessica's Theme six months ago. The key is difficult yes . . . and with a few accidentals also thrown in to boot but . . . that's what marking up sheet music is for. I feel I will learn so much from this piece, my second endeavor into Debussy. Thank you so much for sharing this, you I am sure, have inspired many others to keep at this thing called . . . piano.

Does anyone know what chord is played at 1:21 I’m thinking it’s a G flat Major chord because the key is in G flat Major and the chord sounds like a resolution chord which means it’s in the tonic. I just think it’s a really nice sounding chord! (Also I might be totally wrong cause I don’t know much music theory at all)
