It was ID software start to finish.

In this time and age where game publishers are corrupted by greed and their games ruined by rushed launches and micro transactions, what Doom Eternal represents is id Software looking at the greedy corporation that owns them and points a super shotgun at their face before telling them to fuck off. And whether or not they do, they get their head blown off anyways before being dismembered with a chainsaw and id walks on their corpse, giving it the biggest middle figure with their backs turned away.

I don't like it either, but it's been that way since the PS3. I could never play any of the Mass Effect 3 DLCs because I only had internet on my phone. Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition had some neat DLCs, but again...could never play them.

It was kind of bad though, I literally went from 2016 ultra violent to dying on hurt me plenty because everytime I run into battle I immediately ran out of ammo and don’t have enough fuel to chop down big enemies
@@papirosco4455 Don't do that. Save your chainsaw pips for when you need to get a bit more ammo, use the Chaingun and heavy cannon mods to use your bullets, diversify your ammo usage. Dash constantly, use glory kills and chainsaw animations if you feel like as though you're going to get hit with something big. That is the fundamental building blocks of doom eternal's combat. And that is what also allowed me to beat it with ten extra lives on hurt me plenty. It's a lot more fast paced than doom 2016 was. But that's what I love about Doom eternal. It's faster and more intense.
Doom eternal is basically terminator 2 for gaming

This game is worth every goddamn penny. The newest dlc is incredibly difficult but so rewarding when you finally get through it. I've gotten 127 hours of grade A entertainment from eternal and the ancient gods dlc. 11/10 buy it right fucking now if you somehow haven't.

A game so good, I paid for it twice. First for PS4 release day, and second for PC during a sale, and I even bought the DLC season pass. I beat the game on both platforms. 48.8 hours went into the PC port of Doom Eternal on my end. I honestly do not regret the purchases. Doom Eternal is serious a game ACTUALLY worth the money. I hope wherever they take DOOM next, I hope it's as good as Doom Eternal because I loved Doom Eternal so much, I enjoyed it a lot more than Doom 2016. It's an expertly crafted experience, and one I'll never forget.

Doom eternal is tight, smooth, knows exactly what it's trying to be, and is actually a complete game with little to no bugs.
One i encountered had me rolling on the floor, i found dead archvile somehow combined with marauders moved and ai and i couldnt stop laughing
To bad it's one of the most boring a repetitive games I've ever had the displeasure of playing. I'd choose buggy fallout over this shit any day

It isn't a sign of strength that one would resort to violence to solve a non-violent problem, it's more often a sign of immaturity and weakness. Real strength comes from dicipline (self control), standards, empathy, and resilience.
I like to think that Doom 2016 is now more of a training segment to prepare you for Doom Eternal.

Doom eternal is probably the greatest fps i have ever played in my life.
Another good thing that Joe didn't mention was that it's very well optimized. Like Doom 2016 it runs well, you don't get random stutters or frame drops. I think that's really important since sometimes you get a great game but every time it runs like shit it ruins the whole flow, just takes you out of the game.
Except he told you that game was polished amd had no troubles in that regard, but still its insane, i fired it up, expected around 80 fps on ultra and ended on 160 on ultra nightmare settings lol
I was running a consistent 130-144 fps on my PC when even some WAY simpler games like Minecraft tend to have some serious frame drops down to the 30s. What kind of insane optimisation did they do to D:E?!

Agreed. I'm so happy with Game Pass. We got the Ultimate one which has games for PC & Xbox plus u can stream the games on yr tablet or phone remotely. It made the quarantine tolerable. There are tons of good games on it & recent releases, with a wide variety from Outer Worlds to Doom to Ori & Will oWisps, etc.

Doom 2016 is a good game i honestly think what that game was in its entirety was a tutorial and making you feel comfortable with the game doom eternal is where the real gaming fun begins

This is both a god level trolling and a very vindictive thing to do to your enemy.
Consider that the demons are scared shitless of the Slayer no matter their overaggressive nature. After hundreds of years of rampage at hell they managed to knock him out by throwing a mountain sized temple at him and they were scared of going close for the killing blow thinking that he might wake up if they fuck it up somehow. They magically condensed the mountain to create a sarcophagus which they left there and placed sygils and "warning signs" all around it and attacked with reckless abandon to all that went pass them from the shear fear of what could happen if he somehow woke up again. Until Samuel Hayden went in and managed with great losses to recover him and brought him to Mars, which is where Doom 2016 starts
I'm pretty sure that the base's AI doesn't know all this stuff but we do, which is why all this is a very fitting (doom-wise) joke

The only game I ever pre-ordered. I was so satisfied with doom 2016 that I just knew eternal will be worth it.

The empyrian gates were so awesome to play. The first 2 empyrian gates were SO hard to beat, but then I was able to do the rest without even dying once (except for the last one) which really made me FEEL like a badass.
They got easier for me because I got the"no overheating" of the mobile turret early on in my second playthrough on Nightmare 👌🏼

Printers, phones, calculators, literally toasters, basically everything with any sort of processing power. Search “it runs doom” on know your meme if you want some examples.

I like that DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal offer a continued experience, progress for the story, a progression of difficulty and different features for play. There's a reason for getting both, snapmap, pvp multiplayer, an easy campaign to start it all up and a balls to the walls high stakes finale to give the story a serious challenge for any completionists.
I would be happy to have this franchise end here, I just don't know what could possibly make it any better.
It will get better. They have proven their gaming intelligence dominace. Come back to this when the new doom comes one day.

the marauder is actually easy, stay at long range to dodge his axe and force him to charge you. He usually charges immediately after he performs his long range axe attack. And don't shoot his shield, that causes him to spawn a wolf.
Good advice. He is also easy if the minute you hear the sound effect just before his eyes go green, if you stay at mid range and fire a sticky bomb, as soon as that sound appears, he dies quite quickly.
Yeah I just fought the marauder for the first time and honestly he wasn't that bad. A healthy challenge but still felt good to defeat
and if he spawns a wolf, kill it quick preferably with SS. Switching between the SS and the Ballista when he turns his eyes green charging at you is the best damage. 3 rounds of ballista SS swap damage and you have a dead Maurader. Those 3 rounds can often come in succession, and once you got it down you'll make Mauraders look like a JOKE. Personally I never had too many problems with Mauraders because luckily the style that I had before was swapping between SS and Ballista for high single target damage, and once I read the codex tip about the eyes turning green, they just kind of rolled over. SS Ballista swap is bae.
It really is. It takes like 15 seconds if you do it right. Keep him in his melee range, then when you see the green, fire off a Super Shotgun blast, hot-swap to the Ballista for another shot, and if you're quick enough, you can hot-swap back to the SSG for another shot. Do this like twice and it's dead.

It’s such a shame that this great game is shrouded in controversy. The development sounded rough with crunch, the dogshit OST and Marty slandering Mick Gordon I’m 2020. Now 2 years later after exhausting all of his options Mick has released a 14 thousand word statement telling his side of the story (with receipts to prove his claims) and it just taints this game’s legacy even more.
Some heads need to roll at idSoftware because what happened to Mick is fucking disgraceful.

I'm just here to remind people: Bethesda the Studio and Bethesda the Publisher are two different companies. I hope that after Doom Eternal, the publisher will see that letting the devs do their own thing instead of forcing them to dump a half-baked mess is actually better for business.

@@davecrupel2817 for reals. The first Doom remake was incredible. They built a solid foundation that honored the original games and was modernized. Now in this game they continue from where the first one left off and literally improved every aspect of the first one. Better gameplay, better story, and surprisingly more content. They could've easily fucked up this game with toxic monetization strategies that have been plaguing Bethesda. So im so happy this game shows that developers that would rather make money the traditional way and just make a solid game that will please the fans are still out there. I hope their next project whether doom 3 or something new still follows their principles at the moment

For me this is my favorite FPS of all time. I know the game is too recent, but this is everything I want in an FPS title. Fast paced gameplay, total chaos, over the top killing, blood pumping adrenaline, insane music, never taking itself seriously, even going as far as to poke fun at its seriousness.

@@NateTheGreat368 I never got past the 3rd level. I can't handle the 17 items on cooldown plus constant weapon swapping and dodging enemies. I liked Doom 2016 better for this reason. Also on ps5 I don't have backbuttons on my controller which is abysmal when playing this.
Last time I was this early, Bethesda hadn't ruined the Fallout franchise.

I played both and I prefer TLOU2 tbh, but Doom Eternal is still a great game.
Let's give this game a shoutout for being one of the most optimized games to exist. The game looks absolutely gorgeous and runs as smooth as butter covered in Astroglide.
Keep "present from compute" off, and yeah, plays like silk.
I have it on the Switch, and through some demonic witchcraft, they made it run smooth as hell, too. Granted, it does have low-res textures, and some loading times are a bit long (not too much, mind you), but once the game starts, it's awesome.
Best part when Joe has a breakdown and Alex just sips on his beer in the background.
alex is a great foil to angry joe and other joe

Same here, 30 minutes playing feels like one hour. I’m also mentally exhausted after a session. But finished Doom - Doom 2 - Doom 3 - Doom 2016 - Doom Eternal- Dlc 1 and 2 over 3 months period. It’s a huge and fantastic franchise 🤘

Since the fist doesnt kill them but stuns them. I had a successful headbanging session with a zombie.

Recently bought both Ancient Gods DLCs and came back here to get in the mood for them. Joe, your skits are as legendary as the game itself.
It's only been three years or so but the level of nostalgia I have for this game is through the roof. Encountering that first slayer gate is my best gaming experience of the 2010s. It is a titan of the FPS genre and in the industry as a whole. I wish I could go back and play it for the first time again.
Roll on the next installment in the franchise. The ONLY game I will spend full price on (provided it hasn't gone to absolute hell, pun intended). This series is pretty much my last bastion of hope in AAA video-gaming.
