Thank you! In the script - and the version screened by Kevin Smith - the flashbacks play as Batman is falling. Obviously we don't have that footage, so I tried my best to replicate the flashbacks as they were written once Batman hits the water. The rose dropping is the second flashback in the script, but I put it first as I loved the transition between the helicopter falling and the rose hitting the ground. I think that - combined with the colour grading - ties it all together.
Batman forever is almost a 1 for 1 adaptation of where the batman comics were at in the early to mid 90s. Very colorful, punkish, inspired by both 1930s pulp and 1980s Sci fi. I'm not saying its a great batman movie or anything but it's definitely not bad.
This is the furthest thing from the truth. You obviously never picked up a Batman comic. They were dark and realistic reflective of 90s crime where there were no cameras and smart phones and crimes weren’t solved or avenged. They were dark as hell. What the hell are you talking about!
@redkalsam yeah no man's land is reflective of 90s crime. Look up a picture of Nicholas scratch and tell me he doesn't look like came straight out of Joel Schumacher batman. Beginning with this movie, they certainly turned the campyness up. With Batman&Robin, it was up to 11. Very smart move by Michael Keaton to leave the franchise when Tim Burton did.
If the movie came out not too long after 9/11 because that building has the Statue of Liberty look on there we would be like getting angry about that scene because the helicopter crashed into the Statue of Liberty same thing when Superman IV came out in 1987 when Nuclear Man picks up the Statue of Liberty and tries to use it as a weapon to kill civilians as well by dropping The Statue of Liberty then Superman saves not just the people but the Statue of Liberty itself and yes those effects are bad but still when I see Superman IV when Nuclear Man is trying to use The Statue of Liberty as a weapon it’s like one of those movies that is hard to watch especially after September 11th 2001 just like this scene.
Ngl surprised someone else that unused track of Nygma working on his invention cause out of all the recut of BF that includes Goldenthal's score that particular one is always absent.
As soon as I got the recording sessions for both Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, I sent them to my phone and just kept listening over and over to figure out where any alternate or new music was. All the Nygma stuff from this scene is added back (though I kept the silence for the caffeine joke as the music kept going on the recording session) and I feel like it gives it a new energy. Whether it's better or not is a personal opinion, but I do think it works nicely with the redone helicopter scene now.
