i know its late, but did you even blend the layers when getting that shine effect, or just paint thin layers ontop one another because those transitions are smooth!
I’ve been painting for a while now and I spend a lot of time on each mini, but watching this makes me realize that basically all I’ve learned all this time is how to apply even coats of paint and draw semi-straight lines. I didn’t realize how complacent I’ve been in terms of actually learning and improving. I watched that glazing process on the black Templar armour the whole time not even understanding the relationship between the brush strokes and the ultimate gradient. I went and tried, and it just doesn’t happen. I don’t mean it didn’t look good, I couldn’t even make the effect happen. It’s not simply that I don’t know how to do this, it’s that I don’t even know enough to understand how to learn it. Just incredible.

you are so calm and careless at the same time when painting those pouches aha jut flicking the brush all over the place yet you know exactly where it is and don't get any on the armour
Hm, might be the wrong idea to suggest but I would be really interested in how you would approach a squad format (Underworlds band, for example) with your experience, using the similar criteria of "20h or less, highest possible standard". I think a lot of people paint that way, rather than focusing on a single figure at a time. For me personally it's rather difficult to diverge from that "single figure" mentality while painting squads, when maybe it's more important to focus on the unit as a whole (i.e. minor mistakes and "ignorances" become less significant) - hence the reason I'm curious to see how you'd tackle the problem. Hopefully my explaining made some sence xD
Camouflaged imperial guard, would love to see you paint something with some kinda of camouflage and using the techniques to get some interesting colour changes through the mini on the clothing and then that contrasted with the armour pieces painted the way you do your spacemarines, it may look like trash, but I would love to see it experimented. The model could be anything really, but the contrast between the style of painting you use here and a camouflaged pattern would be interesting to see.

sorry for the late reply. I wanted to think on this and give you a proper answer. I am really sorry for what happened to you. I have been talking it through with a few people and we came to the conclusion that airbrushing is not necessarily easier or faster I am afraid. You will get basecoats down faster, that is true, but you also need to spend time on cleaning your airbrush and the process of using it means you are holding a heavier tool and have to press down on buttons (airflow/paintflow control). The results an airbrush gives you also look different to brushes. Typically you need to put in brushwork over airbrush work to get everything to the same result.
