Madden 08 for the previous gen (Gamecube, PS2, Xbox) is the best Madden. In my view. It has BY FAR the most features and refined physics based gameplay. Even has gang tackles, imagine that! hahah 2k5 is still my favorite though. I play it regularly on my Xbox 360 which has native Xbox backwards compatibility.
I’ve gotten to the point where I think it just comes down to which developers care because even 2K has gotten lazy with their NBA games and we all know EA has the money and tools to make a good game. If only we could get the SEGA developers that made this game to help with EA’s games nowadays then we’d be happy lol

I just bought a ps2 and this game a few weeks ago. This game was a staple for me as a kid. So many hours of enjoyment spent in my room after school or rainy days playing. I turned it on a few days ago for the first time in over 10 years. I went to the crib and seen it empty. I felt both sad and joyful at the same time. I missed all the accomplishments and decorations i had filled in it as a kid, but happy to have the game again. I surely missed playing the game, because i have been playing it alot, but sometimes i think games are better than what they are because i miss my childhood.
Football music in the pregame and on menus. So much better than the yearly round of trap music EA puts on there Madden series. Hopefully we get 2k back in this lifetime.

The ai on this game had its flaws but adjusted to your right difficulty this game was authentic experience which is what players eant I don’t want to be able to throw for 500 yards every game I want a game I get 400 yards and against someone good I only get 150
I enjoy watching this more than the real NFL games. It's all just unauthentic back and forth scoring. The animation of the players movements are the most realistic that I've ever seen. NFL Fever was pretty good but Madden even now just never got it right. The movements of the players just feels perverse and weird.
I think if 2k had taken the reigns instead of Madden we would have a much better game today, but they also would've went the way of the microtransaction just like the NBA game. Although it is still a much deeper and great playing game in single player franchise so it would be a net positive for the NFL version
Click bait but being older now and looking back NFL 2k2 was my first football game that I owned and actually played before any madden not realizing the difference and 2k5 was the last one I played before I owned my first madden and high was 06 and I now respect wat 2K football was tryna do especially with the presentation something LIVE knew wat to do with it but failed on gameplay and now NBA 2K is doing the same they should focus on the presentation and worry less on a career mode or gameplay it’s good but let it feel like a real game… you’d think madden wuda learned from 2K with them taking over all the rights but now in today’s time game developers and creators are listening to the feedback so if they can’t put it in the recent projects with updates it’ll definitely be on the next installment
