Just got in from a long road trip and checked out your show. This weekend is the dark of the moon and I am going to spend two whole days and nights fishing on the ten river on nickajack the good Lord willing.I have always loved to fish at night and in the daytime too.Last winter I fished all night when it was freezing and caught my biggest fish ever.I built a cover to go over my boat that I can enclose in 15 minutes and I run a propane heater that keeps me warm and toasty. The only problem is you have to leave your bait in a cooler to keep it from freezing. I run buzzers on my poles so I can sleep and their loud enough to wake me up.Congratulations on winning and im sure youll smoke the rest of them.
+Jeff Morris Thanks! Good luck this weekend. Be careful out there. Weather man said we may get some bad weather due to that tropical storm in the gulf.
....THANKS,....THIS IS AWESOME, GREAT, ADVICE!!!.... BUT, IF YOU DO HAVE SOME ISSUE, WHILE OUT THERE ALONE, YOU'RE SCREW-ED!!!CARRY A SMALL AIR-HORN, AND LOUD WHISTLE, IN YOUR PFD VEST POCKET!!!
I have watched almost every single video u have produced I'm going tomorrow to buy my first kayak just wanted to say thank you for all the videos and research

Hi from Australia. I recommend a pfd with pockets where you can store your mobile phone in a waterproof holder. It has a torch function which if your other lights fail it can help you get home. For us oldies, get a waterproof tablet container and store your emergency pills in the pfd pocket as well. I am definitely going to try to get one of those yak attack visi carbon lights. The fold-able aspect would be great for yakking under low hanging mangrove trees.
Kayak Catfish most definitely prepared fishermen forget the basics of safety and numbers. Pre-rigging and staying organized should make for a good night fishing adventure
Good job safety stuff . Pfd pockets for strobe ,small waterproof light ,mirror ,pocket eperb, wistle , cell in ziplock.also 4' spear ,knife, head led. I fish hawaii had to deal with tiger sharks . Also big whales at night .. 27 years fishing kayak . Caught 101 travel and 65 baracuda . Night time soldier fish near shore reefs. Anchoring. Some times when windy (25mph) on deep reef .I use ,shore cast lead with wire grapple hooks some leader and spool 50lb test mono drinking plastic bottle float for shock absorbing and to come back to anchor .after catching fish. Use bow chock to keep kayak into wind and current. Quick release clip next to you. I saw your catfish. I always wanted to catch a 50lb alagator gar . They have needle nose stick fish caught one 5' lots of teeth also 5 here is Ono wahoo very sharp teeth gaffum in the tail . Oh also dont turn on lights at night needle fish spear you at 35mph and flying fish wil hit you in the head .No scared um go get um
This was great! Thanks for sharing. When you're filming at night do you keep the light on or do you turn it on when you get a fish on? I did my first night time kayak fishing last night. I was a bit nervous.
I saw in one of your videos where you did a golf bow retriever and a light for your pole. Do you have a link to your light on ebay sir? Love the video. I hope you win the contest.
+HobieKayakUp It has been a few years since I bought light so I don't remember the exact seller but this light looks almost identical. m.ebay.com/itm/10-Watt-LED-Waterpoof-Outdoor-Security-Floodlight-50W-Halogen-Equivalent-New-/332166874579?hash=item4d56b045d3%3Ag%3A9OAAAOSwsW9Y2fHZ&_trkparms=pageci%253A86d69147-565f-11e7-8131-74dbd180e264%257Cparentrq%253Ac9de168015c0ab10b5eda321fff8c1a6%257Ciid%253A20
Ok, you have always been a great help sir. I found a 12vdc one www.amazon.com/GLW-Waterproof-Outdoor-Halogen-Equivalent/dp/B008XZAQDU/ref=pd_sim_60_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B008XZAQDU&pd_rd_r=257FH0PAQWMTC6FMCEHX&pd_rd_w=Jchk2&pd_rd_wg=YjNKC&psc=1&refRID=257FH0PAQWMTC6FMCEHX
As far as the ambush areas be ever vigilant and keep a buddy with you and not a human buddy my buddy's are a m&p9 and a Glock 21 always be aware of surroundings before you ever launch view all possible points of attack and if it don't feel right leave launch/fish somewhere else I do alot of bank fishing at night I have had a cold chill go down my spine out of nowhere I reeled in and left with everything in my left hand and my gun hand empty. Me and a family member were leaving a spot one night a car rode by five or 6 times had my cousin stay untill I pulled off be safe at night exspecialy in the city
+Marty Mcfly Great advice Marty! I am fortunate to live in an area with very little boat traffic at night and because our river's current flow is controlled by hydroelectric dams, we have very little debris in our water. Be safe out there.
+Kevin Dewitt Yes, I posted the prize winners on my Facebook page: Kayak Catfish. As soon as they mail the prizes out, I will do a recap video and go over all that stuff. Thanks for following along as I fished it!
Texas requires red/green lights on bow must be visible at 1 mile, and the white aft light must be visible at 360° for *2 miles*. Make sure your lights meet the codes.

+Panfish Thanks!
Thanks for the vid! How do you see at night with your fish finder in front of you? Mine blinds me even when I turn it down? 😆
What was the name of the 360 light
Yak Attack Visicarbon Pro light

I use a 30w led floodlight attached to a monopod for filming at night.
Kayak Catfish thanks :)
I done seen huge trees coming down the Missouri River when flooded. Be careful guys

I don't see many boats out here at night...
That’s one of my favorite perks of fishing at night
