This is a good idea. My dad use to come up with homemade gadgets.
Like a homemade down rigger, bait trays that hung on the inside of the boat, a varnish wood center console for a steering wheel with all the power electrical knobs for on/off switch, and the runny lights like yours, and etc.
Stuff like this reminds of him.
    Right on 👍🏼

Seems like a good concept. However, I would worry if it started raining the water running down the side of the bulb would get into the socket and cause problems.

WOW!!! THANK YOU, VERY MUCH, FOR THIS DEMO VIDEO!!!... I WILL BE ADDING A BATTERY BOX, ELECTRIC TROLLLING MOTOR, PLUS NAVIGATION LIGHTS, AND SOME ADDITIONAL INTERIOR (INSIDE THE BOAT) LIGHTING, AND, PERHAPS A SPOT/FLOOD LIGHT AT EACH END OF MY 18,5' CANOE.
...PERHAPS, INSTEAD OFUSING THAT 1/4"-20 BOLT EPOXEID INTO THE COUPLING, YOU COULD'VE JUST DRILLED A 1/4" HOLE THRU THE CENTER OF A 1' DIA PVC PIPE CAP (ONE WITH A FLAT, (NOT ROUNDED) END)... THAT BOLT COULD ALSO BE EPOXIED INTO THE CAP, AND IT COULD EXTENT OUT OF THE BOTTOM END OF THE CAP, AND INSERT THRU ANY ACCESSIBLE DECK SURFACE, OF PLATE, AND BE SECURED WITH A BIG WINGNUT, (AS NEEDED).

How long will an 8amp battery last if I was using the LED light you used?

Thanks for the idea. Quick build. Took out last night. Perfect. Very bright. Side benefit? Small fish attractant! lol. Have you had any problems with water as some of the other commenters mentioned? Thanks and be well!

    Great idea and implementation!
How does it react to salt water drips / splashes?

Is your light set up waterproof like what happens when it starts raining? Will it be OK?

Looks great. Nice n brite. My only concern,as some others have ....
    1. if the light is on and rains, what happens to the $10 bulb?
    2. Do you have any issues with water getting inside the tube?
    Thanks.
