Man, lately I've been realizing that I thought most Destiny players were DEEP into the lore, and I was dead wrong. I have so many friends that play, and every time I try and talk lore with them, they're all like "what are you talking about". Thanks to Byf for making me so knowledgeable about this game that I now feel like I belong to a tiny 1% of players that actually know this stuff.
Dude the ppl I play with are lore buffs. We love the lore in this game n believes it can be more.

I was on the same boat dude but I always take chances to talk about the lore everytime we play together in the clan, so slowly Im making a lot from my clan to start to search or ask me about the lore, slow but sure they are getting more interested in the lore
I was never a big Destiny fan until I listened to Byf explain the lore with his videos. After the story started to make sense to me, the game became way more enjoyable. Knowing why you’re doing what you’re doing in the missions gives me a better connection to the game. Thank you Byf for sharing your knowledge and making it understandable for dummies like me!

I had a friend that bought me the taken king edition of d1 and while I had fun while I played with friends I could never really get into because I didn't really understand what the hell was going on or why I should care really, then I found byf and was like wow this game has depth
Same I missed most of d1 and then fell off after black armory…..till forsaken then I was hooked again. Then I watched the 3hr video of ALL of destiny and I’m SOOOO hooked. Tryed to tell my friend who’s just playing again before WQ, who also played warmine campaign hahha
For real, it’s voice man. I thought I had a unique voice. A footnote in comparison to this man. There’s time where I almost had my shirt off at the end of his clips 😂😂
Your not a dummy bungie hide their lore and it’s barely seen in game
Playing other games and trying to get into their lore during downtimes for destiny has made me realize that no other game franchise has a Byf. We don’t deserve him, but I sure am glad that we have him to enlighten us on the beautiful world Bungie has created. Thanks, Byf.
Byf is pretty cool. I highly recommend checking out Dark Souls lore presented by VaatiVidya who is very much Byf's twin in the DS world. I cycle back and forth between their lore videos all the time

That little interactive trailer, even thought I knew most of what was in it, was still very cool. Very nice of Bungie to do that. They didn't have to, and I don't think anybody would've asked them, it's just a neat way to teach new players what they need to know.
The visuals were also pretty cool, especially the brief look at Fundament

Id say they kinda do have since in game lore explanations are rather laughable, and there's no way to replay older content. I hope at some point they do a massive one like that with story all the way from d1 beggining
@@kamilandzi I don't think they'll ever do one with all the story from D1, and I don't think they need to either. As someone who has been here since the D1 Beta, a lot of it is just irrelevant now. The things that went down in the Black Garden and with SIVA ect, just don't really have an impact still. Even with characters like Ghaul.

Fudgemuppet do podcasts where they answer and discuss questions their viewers ask. I guess Byf, Myeli, Evan and Evade could try that if they have the time

As a veteran player, I still watch these videos, even if I know the content. It's nice to get refreshers, and be reminded that things I consider inherent Destiny knowledge, might not be known by many, many players.
Plus, you tell the story well.

There's a tiny bit of flavor text from a green Warlock bond, the Bond of Symmetry, that I always think about which I believe is becoming more and more relevant each year. It goes:
"The Light alters us, yet all that we do with our Light changes the Light. Thus, there is symmetry." - Ulan-Tan
Ulan-tan has been pretty much spot on with his other speculations on the nature of Light and Darkness, so I wonder if this statement is equally true of the Darkness? Maybe the more we use the Darkness for good, and continue to use the Light for good, the two will find their true balance?

Dynasty came out on my birthday and it was the coolest thing to enjoy on my day off. It was beautifully done and the quality is only matched by the love you can tell went into it. Absolutely magnificent
The best part is how Mara was boasting to Ikora how on top she was on everything, that she was queen of the reef and tamed a dragon and all that other good stuff. But her Techeuns did all the hard work and when it came time for Mara to put merit to her claims, she fumbled.
At this point Calus is a more reliable ally. At least he makes good on his promises of giving you strong weapons.
Why she didn't just get us to train a x4 izanagi on savathuns head idk, would have been better than trying to stab her

I'm hyped for dynasty. I could watch a 5 hour long black screen of byf talking about lore, now I get the same experience with but with stunning animations and art to follow along. I've heard the whole destiny story on repeat since I joined in season of the splicer and I still am hyped as if dynasty will be my first time.
Count on Byf to go beyond all out for a big release!! Your Thorn x TLW, Rezzyl/Dredgen Yor x Shin Malphur video was an all time epic within not just our community but gaming lore in general, no doubt this will he superb!

I love how byf gets the sponsor out of the way before diving in, unlike other channels where they get into it and then halfway through, "And before we continue, a quick word from our sponsor!" Before getting back to it lol
I feel like some lore has been glossed over in several WQ videos. Mostly the line "Hello old Friend, I've chased you for a looong time..." people seem to think it's the Traveler, but I don't think so. There wasn't much of any interaction between the proto-hive and the Traveler, maybe the disciple (The Leviathan) but that's about it.
They went down into the fundament seeking power and that's where they found the Worms, by why? To get revenge in the traitor Taox. Taox had let in the enemy to kill the Osmium King and the three sisters vowed to take revenge. They fled, with the dead king's worm and found the Needle and dove into the fundament where they found power.
Long story short, with the power of the darkness/worms, they decimated every civilization that took Taox in refuge, but even Taox was able to flee and just about never to be found.
Do you think we will see Taox? I sort of wonder if the hive caught wind of Taox hiding amongst us.
The lore is absolutely amazing! But I now realize why they cut the first story from destiny 2. Dominus Gaul Used the light, with the same supers, most people probably forgot about that. but witch queen is resetting this and I cannot wait!
Good thought! I thought about it as well, but think/hope it might be the opposite. That we will actually see references to Ghaul in the Witch Queen campaign, à la "why did old ballface obliterate Ghaul but it lets Savathun go right ahead?"..

I really, REALLY hope that Savathun survives. I think she knows more about the Darkness and it’s motives than we realize. And that despite our differences, she wants to help. Even if for her own reasons, she also doesn’t want the Darkness to win. We have a common enemy. She has figured out how to give the Light to others, to CREATE Guardians. Who are we to ignore such a powerful weapon against our greatest enemy?
I can't wait for the 21st, what a perfect way to lead into WQ.

I would love to see a video on the lore from shadowkeep up to the release of witch queen. I watched the video on the lore from beginning to forsaken and would love to see a continuation of that
He already did from shadowkeep to beyond light. Doing last 4 seasons would be enough. No point going over Shadowkeep seasons again.

Keeps: you don’t want Savathûn’s swamp mixing with her dreaming city
Theory: The "crowned" form of Sav' we see in the trailer is a decoy. The real one doesn't look nearly as "Sauron-ish".
Hive take multiple forms as they mature and gain power, I'm pretty sure the crown is just her equivalent to Oryx's horns
I have a little pet theory. Her throne world shows that Savathun is going through some major mental changes, and what if the parts she is trying to discard don't want to die? The crowned form is her "evil" bits, the parts that drive her to do things like infest Osiris and turn off the sun and be a hive goddess of deception. With us going into her mind, we are burning out the parts of her that would force her into conflict with us, and eventually will leave her weakened and non-hostile.
Who knows? Maybe she'll end up like she was before the worm gods, just a little girl who wanted to be a mother. And this time, she won't get caught between a murderous coup and a world-ending disaster.

I've been wondering for a while if Savathun has been planning to use light for a while now. In the first Destiny, there is a mission on the moon where some hive are feeding on the light from a shard of the Traveller. Curious if that was just a throw away objective, or the earliest hint that the hive were trying to use the light.

If you remember in D1 there was moment when doing a mission I forgot which was but was against the Fallen in that they where heard to that is US the Guardian was the Evil ones .

I highly advice anyone who wants to have their mind messed up go read achilles weaves a cocoon lore book . You might see some interesting names. And the Fallen being reanimated through darkness (so were we with light), becoming the scorn might be a blaring arrow to show us something . Evolution with the ability to push it forward with the powers of technology can lead to a lot of consequences and really good lore

I think Destiny is similar to the MCU yes you can only watch the movies/play the game but when you read the comics/Lore you know specific eastereggs and thinks in the background. Love your videos Byf can't wait for Dynasty

I feel that everything we are seeing about hive ghosts and the light will just tie back into savathune's knowledge of necromancy from nokris and from her secretly chasing the light during the period of the big 3 splitting up and following there own path to grow stronger.
