A lot of you have said this in the comments so wanted to pin it as it seems OMSI 2 is best! I’ll be truthful here, I’ve not played it myself simply because I was looking at games within the last 10 years. Fernbus I believe is the oldest from the ones I reviewed, but OMSI was 2013, which probably makes us all feel so old! It’s also quite damming that a 10 year old game is still considered the best version even though we’ve had many other games released since then. With that, I may go buy it and do a review of it as it seems many of you would like to see it. So thank you for the comment lad and for stating this! It’s a point well made!
As a former OMSI mod developer and a player since it was first released in 2011, I will say that without a doubt OMSI is the best bus simulator ever created. It may not have as nice graphics as other newly released games or present performance issues, but still wins hands down!
@@User-jr7vf thank you for the update lad and wonderful comment. I promised I’d do a review if this soon and I intend to stick with it. Just waiting for a lull in the gaming schedule!
@@cockneygamer OMSI has realism no other bus simulator quite has yet. It also has a good library of mods. The only problem with OMSI is it's performance, due to how old it is the game was made in 32-bit, this causes worse performance and limits the usage of the game's ram to 2gb (can be passed up to 4gb with a patch).
In nutshell. If you know euro truck simulator 2 by SCS, just wait for Coach simulator by SCS. It will be game changer. They have already added bus stop in every single city in ETS2 so this is ready. I will not mention real/fictional maps that have already bus stop too (very known map Grand Utopia in scale 1:1). We just need to wait when SCS will actually to have time to make this happen. But they have full attention to ETS2 and ATS for now.
To be honest - I have all 3 games and I play Fernbus the most. It’s really fun driving around and dealing with all these different things etc. The Bus is good but it’s easy to just get bored quickly. Same with Bus Sim 21.
max respect. his review is spot on... its the same feeling i get from them. i have 21 and 18.. and end up playing 18. one problem i have with eurotruck and all the bus sims.. is the damage.. and punishment feels nonexistent! n
Omsi 2 is the best bus simulator in all areas. Many mods, realistic physics, can be configured in many ways and can be adjusted reasonably well to the possibilities of the equipment you use. There are also disadvantages: a 32-bit engine ensures that the performance will never be great. Furthermore, sound handling is a real weak point, although you don't hear many users talking about it. Omsi is therefore at number 1. A good contender for the more recent additions is The Bus. Here too there is a growing realism in the experience. If TML continues to develop the bus as it is now, it could well become Omsi 3. But before that happens, a lot of water still has to pass under the bridge.
Funnily enough the only actually realist bus sim - OMSI 2 - isn't on the list ! It's the ONLY one which sounds 100% realistic and which handles as realistically as possible (especially for an indie game made by 2 people)
Good points. Should have also added Tourist Bus Simulator, also from TML Studios (Fernbus, The Bus). I say this because TBS has the management aspect too. I have The Bus, OMSI and Lotus Simulator. To be honest right now, you´re better off getting a bus mod Into ETS 2. I still have to figure out how they add terminals and passenger routes In EST 2, but It´s there cuz I have seen It. Way better FFB In EST 2, so the sensation of driving Is more alive then any mentioned here. After all, they do call them simulators don´t they!
I really loved your style of review! You earned yourself a sub. Ive played Bus Simulator 18, Fernbus Simulator and The Bus, and I personally find The Bus to be the best one for me. Ive spent 100s of hours, I bought the game the day it came out and wasnt disappointed. They have improved the graphics a bit, added voice lines on ticket sales, added some new routes and implemented a line editor. There are two new buses, modding for maps, props in the cockpit and voicelines and skins. After all this time, I am still hyped out of my mind everytime new content gets launched. I really love the alive-ness that you also mentioned in your video. They made the AI more agressive now, some will use the bus lane, change lanes without looking or change from turning lanes to straights while at a red light. I would definitely say its 100% worth it if youre here for the bus-driver aspect.
Thank u - It’s August 2024 and I was just about to purchase - better to wait - developers these days like to put stuff out and then go out of snails pace - and that’s the best case scenario. The latter is abandonment of the entire game. It’s the new style. And I’m not into it after taxi life. Taxi life taught me a very important lesson. Never pre-purchase - wheels were promised for consoles. Hasn’t happened yet.
Omsi stays nr 1. no one can beat it. Giving the fact that omsi has more variety. U have ZF / Voith gearboxes w realistic sounds, realistic door sounds, engine sounds, etc. whilst all the other games mentioned here dont have.
Bus sim 21 is so good, BUT i started playing this week, and i already lost 2 profiles, both having hours and hours of driving... Sometimes the loading screen (when the black bus PNG appears on your screen) is just getting stuck, and you can Never load that profile again.... Sucks
It has taken me over a year to find the best bus sim after playing ets2 with bus mod, I now have that itch for a good bus sim... Fern scratches that itch the most at this point because the country/dlc expansion is similar to ets 2 as it really gives that feel for being on european roads
I think now it's time to compare these 3 games again, especially considering the price/quality ratio. Because for the last 7 months, the quality has hardly changed, but the prices does..:-)
I'm missing OMSI 2 from this list. Nothing can beat it. I tried The Bus, Fernbus Simulator, Bus simulator 21,18 and none of them are as good as OMSI 2.
Bus simulator 21 does have a radio no singing just must you have to find it in the cabin there is 2 options for driving simplified were the computer helps you or realistic I have noticed the bus fighting and it can be harder to brake and can over steer when turning

Graphics are NOT everything as regards to a game, sure they help... but take a look at why the flight simulator called Falcon (now available for free called Falcon BMS) is still going even after all these years (the original was released in the 80's)... and that's because it has a dynamic war campaign that changes each time you play it... the graphics are average compared to the latest flight sim games like MSFS, DCS World, X-Plane etc... but what they cannot match is its gameplay.
