A couple of things my fellow Cockney chums: 1) Sorry for being out for so long with no uploads. Stupidly I decided to move home a few weeks before Christmas, meaning my PC has been in a box for a while! Good news is I'm up and running again so hoping for more content shortly! 2) Auto HDR on Windows caused a few recording issues here - either its blown out in color or very dull looking. My bad for that, I will work on a fix. 3) We need to stop making excuses for games companies. Asobo royally screwed up and the review score reflects that, and that's coming from the biggest fan of theirs. It's pathetic on their part to release the game in this current state. More videos to follow and as always love your support and comments. Love Reggie xxx
After spending hours trying to configure my Turtle Beach Yoke which the software didn't recognise I finally took off from my home airport in Vancouver I flew over downtown Vancouver and I was met with 900ft trees in the middle of downtown bigger than the hirises the graphics were abysmal I tried London same thing again with cars driving under the bridges !!....its a joke so I asked for a refund and got it!...I'll stick with MS2020 thank you .
MSFS 2020 is 4 years old already, but still has runway edge lights in the middle of taxiways at the entries of runways . It doesn't look right when we run over the lights to enter the runways .
I did not buy for a few major reasons. The big one is it's mostly cloud based and I already did not like 2020 streaming in scenery. It took the 3 years to fix the premium deluxe aircraft in 2020 and if not for working title it would have never been fixed. The next reason was it was not big enough upgrade from 2020 which I already invested a lot into. I appreciate someone that is not a shill calling them out on the BS.
Appreciate it mate. All very fair points. Sadly I wanted to see some major big channels calling them out but I’ve not seen it yet. So we keep up the good fight and just keep it real here. Appreciate the comment, cheers 🍻
@@OperationDx1 love to hear it mate. These videos take a lot of my spare time up, many many hours to edit and get the footage (and of course okay that actual game!). You do sometimes wonder if it’s worth it, so when I read comments like this it really does mean the world to me. Appreciate your support so much.
@@cockneygamer I know exactly. I used to do the TH-cam thing. I enjoyed it for a good long while. But it was sucking the life out of me and made gaming less fun. So I have a respect for those who do it and are honest.
They put out a game two years to soon. 2024 is not finished, and they overdid the hype. They did the usual by letting the player find the problems so they can fix it, which is a piss poor attitude towards their customers.
Why do people always say that when they find the one youtuber who says something negative?? I saw someone say the same thing on a negative review of Half Life Alyx. just a really dumb take.
Thanks for your honest and witty review. I might add that it is perhaps even worse on Xbox - at least on PC you have some options to tweak and workaround. Xbox - nada. And when trying to get settngs as desired it quickly starts degrading performance or crashes entirely. Controller setup has been almost completely changed/effed up from 2020 - why? Why no option to keep as was or an option to import them? Why do I need to go through all mappings manually to relearn to use new controller inputs? And why then, if I try to change even one single setting for the controller it crashes every single time? Not to mention the plethora of graphical errors present, entire airports missing all buildings (Copenhagen, my home town, and a rather large airport at that), huge chunks of surface graphics never loading properly, planes acting erratically or not at all, parts missing, canopies missing, instrumentation missing, instrumentation not responding when actually there, UI messed up, crashing or just not responding for "simple" users like myself, unreliable and erratic autopilot, non functioning simple controls in airplanes, I could go on an on. And on. I was really getting into flying this past year, even considering investing in proper gear. Not anymore. The huge disappointment and frustration of 2024 has turned me off flying to a degree where I really don't enjoy it at all, not even in 2020 where most things at least work most of the time. It has soured so much I regret even buying the Xbox X - I bought it to play MSFS in the first place - and as soon as I finish another game I play, my Gamepass Ultimate subscription will go as well. It is as if 2024 running on Xbox has lowest priority, an afterthought at best. It is precisely as you say, we are paying to beta test. I am on a superfast fiber connection with enough bandwidth for at least 10 households but even with all other equipment off my network entirely and the connection entirely dedicated to the Xbox it still does not work even halfway. Sorry, had to vent somewhere - there aren't many reviews or the like out there re. Xbox users of 2024.
Great points mate and yes, I’ve read a lot of Reddit posts saying how on Xbox it’s even worse. A real shame that because the console is capable of playing the game, but what they produced is just terrible all around. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story, cheers 🍻
Like someone said on Reddit, nobody asked for FS 2024. They could have gone for 2 or 3 more years to properly give it shape, all the while improving FS 2020. But Asobo needed their paycheck, and Microsoft needed a new shiny toy to put on the Game Pass shelf. It runs way worst than 2020 while not being that much of a graphical upgrade, and they totally butchered the game with those ridiculous AI voices. I mean, even something as low effort as recording voices wasn't in their plan... Heck, they could have asked John or Olivia from the marketing department to record them in exchange of a free cupcake, it would have been way better. Not mentionning the addition of helicopters and hot air balloons, which is a fun idea... But you do that when the heart of the game, the fixed wings aircrafts, is functionning decently. And of course, kudos for the dumbo at Asobo and/or Microsoft for going full streaming, in a day and age where storage is getting cheaper and cheaper.
I'll give FS2024 one thing, for a "flight simulator", it sure does an awesome job of simulating giraffes and deer. The truth is MSFS2024 is an utter bug-ridden disgrace. From the disastrous launch, when they should have known about server loads, to the hundreds and hundreds of bugs in the program. Airports missing terminals, entire airports missing, airborne jetways, aircraft with wings missing, avatars hanging upside down out of flying aircraft, blurry terrain, CTDs etc etc. It's utterly pathetic. They rushed it out and they knew it wasn't ready. It's going to take at least a full year before it's even close to fixed, if ever. If you're wondering who the beta testers are, it's the people who bought this joke of a program. I got a refund as I won't reward their incompetence and I won't pay for the privilege of being a beta-tester.
You guys on Xbox because I’m on PC and it’s great for me. They fixed the floating jetways, everything looks sharp and clear and performance is smooth on ultra. With just flight traffic full ai traffic and beyondATC. To me it surpassed msfs20. I can finally flight anywhere with stupid stutters on arrival at heavy scenery and flight model is much better too.
I can get the graphics in FS2020 to look just as good as in FS2024 using the NVidia filters. So I will stick with FS2020 as its now stable and a joy to use.
It's not just Asobo. Game developers have been doing this for a while now. Put it on the market broken, take the money, let the gamers be the proof testers. It's not fair at all. They pushed to get this sim out on the market before the end of the year. Otherwise they would have had to change the name to FS2025. If I buy a brand new car I should be able to start it up and drive it away! That is not what happened with this sim, and I'm so glad I didn't run right out and buy it. I'm going to wait until mid 2025 before I buy it, and it damn well better be ALL fixed by then!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, they should have either pushed the launch back to 2025 and announced that the sim simply wasn't ready yet, or they should have marketed the game as early access. I had previously tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the studio was under pressure from higher ups in the company to push the sim out by a specific date, but honestly, your point about them possibly taking advantage of their customers and covertly using a buggy launch as free labor beta testing is... compelling.
I'm betting Microsoft was the ones who gave the ultimatum. They did the same with MSFS, launched when it wasn't ready, had a horrible launch overall, and 4 years later the same problems exist. Now look at 2024 with Microsoft being the publisher and who's name is on it... Over 2x more cost for the best package, horrible launch, same problems in 24 that still reside in 2020.... It was Microsoft who bent everyone (even asobo) over.
The fact MS could pull the plug on FS2020 tomorrow to get people over to 2024 makes me even more upset at the whole situation. I am back on 2020 and X-Plane now and if MS do more of their BS I will be back on XP12 exclusively even of it means loss of eye candy , I can still get satellite imagery streaming in XP12 if I want to and for free. I have been playing flight sims since 1999 when I was still a kid and I am happy to see them get back into the mainstream but what MS/Asobo have done/are doing really sucks.
It's "trust us" Microsoft 101. Remember Windows 10 being called the last Windows version you will ever own? Just recently got a message saying "We are stopping support for Windows 10 this year". And "You cannot upgrade to 11, because your 2 year old MB doesn't support some back door entry where we want your data". I'm starting to regret buying this sim already. Patches seem to make it worse each time. It's now unplayable
@@ArcanePath360 I am happy I switched to linux 3 years ago :) last thing I want is a bunch of telemetry and intrusive corporate stuff in my OS not to mention possible ad's NO THANKS.
@ Yes as well as most add ons ! The only add on I have not managed to get working is the Fenix due to the weird external app it uses that uses some seriously ancient windows libraries to work. Also I have never had FS2020 crash during a flight on Linux not once even with all my add ons like the PMDG 737 and 777.
I've played a fair amount of flight sim 2024 and have only encountered a few small bugs, nothing that affected me in a major way, but this video is absolutely needed. Asobo need to be held accountable for what they put out, and this is exactly the kind of critical feedback they need to hear and listen to.
💯 mate. Everything what you said. FS24 is one big con job in its current form. Asobo/ MS did an excellent job in hoodwinking all the influencers in Las Vegas. Some simmers should get together and file a class action lawsuit in the US for defective product. That's the only way they will learn.
They pushed it out too early to take advantage of the all important holiday spending spree. I'm sticking with 2020 until they're finished with the beta testing that their customers paid to unwittingly be part of. A big thank you to the participants. It should be a great sim in a few months.
Exceptional as always. I tried for a week and only achieved a 96% load so gave up. Glad you are back Reggie, I did wonder why you were silent, hope the new home is all you wanted. Have a great Christmas and new year.
New home is fabulous mate! I’ve discovered if you leave your crap in boxes it acts as a wardrobe in itself! Appreciate the comment and yes, the dreaded load times are a killer for many. Really hoping they can get this to where it needs to be over the coming months. Cheers 🍻
Stumbled upon your channel for the first time today. At last an honest 2024 review. All the others youtubers tell half the story at best so as not to put all their free addons they get at risk!!!!
Welcome to our growing gang mate, appreciate your support. I’ve watched and read quite a lot of reviews and I started to wonder if it was just me with issues. Reading these comments has restored my faith in the gaming population. Cheers to you 🍻
VR is definitely smoother, but not being able to interact with the pop up EFB is pretty poor, they need to fix that as a priority (as not all planes have a built in EFB). I've also experienced very poor ground textures in mountains and other areas that looked so much better in 2020, seems to be a LOD issue that has not yet been addressed - either that or I've done something stupid in my settings thats not apparent.
Same I'm using pimax crystal and love it....currently on an around the whole world flight....left uphaven 4 days ago....currently in Iceland....next flight will be Reykjavik to northern Canada then south all the way to south America then on to Antarctica 😊👊
@@cockneygamer VR is very broken too with massive bugs that still go unfixed, performance is also worse than MSFS2020. If you read the official forums you'll find a lot of very annoyed VR users who feel let down by this release, me included.
Very kind of you to say mate. I always wanted a channel that gave honest reviews but had some banter thrown in along the way, especially when reviewing these simulator style games. Appreciate you commenting, cheers 🍻
I really don't understand how they managed to mess it up so hard. It's basically just a fs2020 update, nothing more. It's the exact same game with a different menu and a career mode, but somehow they managed to bring a thousand time more bugs then improvements in their 100$ update
Thank you mate, appreciate that a lot. Couldn’t agree more… I always try and offer a balance, even on the shittier games and hopefully that comes across but at the end of the day, this is simply awful and feels so rushed out.
I remember sitting at my PS4 in late 2020 after starting to play Cyberpunk 2077 wondering wtf was going on and just seeing a product that had so much hype just be soooooooo bad. Had the same experience last month sitting on my Xbox series X playing MSFS 2024. At least with Cyberpunk, it was a new IP and trying to do new things while MSFS 2024 had a prior version that was excellent and the fact that it can’t even get 2020 things right (such as the mouse issues that all of us on Series X have experienced if we use a mouse). I’d be a little more understanding if it was the new innovative things (like career mode) that were a little bugged at launch but it’s the whole entire deal that is bugged.
Yes brother I fell in love with flight sim on my series s, Got gamepass to try 2024 and I was dissapointed with the xbox performance and bugs. I got it for PC and i have had less problems I just cant wait for this one to be ironed out, Im loving the sim
Microsoft did the right thing releasing MS24 as it was. They figure only sim flyers around the world could find the bugs and issues that need to be fixed. Flight Simulator 2024, being so complex and sophisticated, will be perfected over time.
What's so different I got a refund the difference Is very small it seems no lessons have been learned from 2020 . My updated scenery is the same in 2020.
I just tried it again today after leaving it for a couple of weeks due to the frustration. It seems to have improved after the latest patch. There's definitely a lot of bugs still, it really shouldn't have been released in that condition, or at least Asobo should've been more transparent and honest about its condition so buyers could be informed. But despite the UI bugs in VR, I still had a very smooth and enjoyable flight in career mode. I think there's hope for it yet 🙂🤞
How the hell can they expect me to pay full price when MS never paid me a single cent to beta test their 2020 version of the same sim? It's taken Asobo what, like 3+ years to finalize 2020? No thanks MS. I'll wait at least a year before I decide whether to buy 2024 or not. @10:05, wait a minute. Is this for real?
2020 still isn't complete. The 78 STILL doesn't have ground effect, still flies like trash, there are still random holes in the scenery... Basically the problems that are plaguing 2024 are still plaguing 2020... Which is comical that people are so staunch on defending 2024. Who thinks encrypting liveries is a good idea? Asobo / Microsoft realized they could charge playstation with extra steps (Xbox) users for liveries that are free on PC... I'm betting they want to make liveries payware (let's be real, asobo promising "once marketplace comes you can use liveries" is as trustworthy as their years of empty promises already)
Damn. That was so comical, it was worth a subscription for that alone. Your tone of phrase is so eloquent, I could have been sitting in a cab shelter discussing it. Your review is spot on though, exactly how I felt, even though I was expecting it. It's now a question of flying in 2020 until it's knocked into shape. We are in very early access but paid up front. Very clever.
Haha, so kind of you to say mate, appreciate it a lot and welcome to our growing gang! And couldn’t agree more, absolutely this feels like an early access title without telling us it is. Cheers 🍻
I found a really cool bug tonight, if you press SHIFT-C at the right time while crashing into the ground you can walk around and you will hear the copilot talking to ATC (if you have AI handling your atc). Not only that, if you hit TAB to bring up the tablet you can see your plane is actually flying around while you are on the ground. If you hit SHIFT-C to try and get back in the plane it will say you have crashed etc, and it starts you back in the air as it normally does.
I tried taxiing under the skybridge at KDEN and it said I crashed. Put my plane in the air, and deleted my SID. also everytime I exit a flight the game soft locks. 100% of the time. This is why I take a break from my hardcore simpit for a month or two at a time.
I bought it and am very disappointed it was released before it was finished. Love career mode but for me it is riddled with problems with graphics and aircraft. Even your pictures show at 04:46 & 06:14 show parked aircraft at least 6 feet in the air. Agree with all you say just hope they sort it out.
Excellent review, really enjoyed your presenting style from a fellow Brit, had me chuckling! Subscribed and liked! Keep up the good work, looking forward to more of your content…
Glad to have you as part of the gang mate, appreciate your support. I try and do a whole mix of different games on here so hoping there’s always something out there for you to enjoy. Cheers 🍻
Perfect summary. It had all the right ingredients for an amazing soup, but Microsoft continually lace it with Sulphuric Acid at every turn. Got tired of it, moved back to X-Plane, not as pretty, but it works, stores the world locally, and flies far better. Disgusting work Asobo and Microsoft, absolutely no morals what so ever releasing such a total mess. I've said this on a few comments now, but, the reality here is Microsoft have pandered to the masses with a visual "Terrain Simulator", an entertainment product at best (though its hardly entertaining) where X-Plane delivers an actual "Flight Simulator", a tool to do a job, which it does very well indeed.
Great summary. The latest patch blocked me from witnessing the FS2024 greatness on PC. I can't actually load into the main menu now - stuck at 68%. At least I can play on XBox with the gamepad, leaving my HOTAS andTrack IR collect dust while the game randomly crashes to dashboard on console for no apparent reason.
Good roundup of the issues! I got the game/sim a few days after launch (at a discounted price), thinking it was a smart move. Couldn't play it on day one, but day 2 was like a little slice of heaven, albeit until my sim senses started tingling and picking up on the many game breaking bugs, mainly when I tried career mode the first time. Outside of that I started trying free flights and quickly started noticing how many planes were simply broken, couple that with the pop up EFB not working in VR and it became apparent I wasn't going to be having that free flight enjoyment in the more complex planes in the sim (yet). Another major gripe is ground effect, I did think helicopters were some of the more polished aircraft in the game, and some of the new offerings from blackbird, along with the h225 are pretty stunning - try landing them on an elevated pad however and you quickly notice its basically impossible to land realistically without being flung back into the air again the minute you experience ground effect. So much promise with this sim, but imo it should have been a 2025 release and not a rushed apparent cash grab trying to adhere to a set release date and keep their 2024 branding. Hoping it wont take that full year of fixes before I can enjoy the sim, but I'm so happy I left 2020 installed - so many decent mods on there we'll not see in 2024 for a long time yet.
6:12 Didn't know Cirrus made a VTOL trainer! 😂 This game never ceases to amaze me with the amount of bugs I've seen and heard about. How it ever passed QC and got released is a tale for the ages. Definitely dodged a bullet by not preordering.
Finally, a TH-camr who calls out this shit, I too am sick of these games released 2 years too early. And kudos for not being a white knight like all the other flight sim so called youtubers.
Appreciate it mate… I don’t like calling out other channels by name. They are more successful, bigger and simply better at editing than I am… but for sure they aren’t calling it like it is
My msfs 20 is uninstalled. Only runnig 24 now. Sure the game needs lots of improvement but it's so far a much better game than it's predecessor. I don't give a damn shit about carrier mode. I play mostly general aviation vfr, helicopter. So no big issue for me. Some remarquable planes are included. The chinook, the beaver dhc-2, and some others. But i must complain about planes. I have the premium edition. Too many planes are bad quality, bugged or even unplayable. And i would like to play missions without the need of the carrier mode.
"I never beat my wife, so domestic violence is not a problem". Just stop it. M$F$ 2024 looks better than it's predecessor. It doesn't function better. It's a pile of shit wrapped in nice packaging.
I play it in VR and especially with the recently AutoFPS utility, it runs wonderfull despite having a 4-year old pc. I put 25 hours in it so far, mostly career mode and encountered a bug once, where the passanger refused to board to plane and stayed outside. That mission did count though when I landed without the passenger. I see enough videos like these showing all the bugs that can happen, but honestly I never expected a bugfree experience. 2020 took years to become somewhat stable. That one had the issue that bushflight landings were not detected and that took a year or 2 before it was finally patched. Besides the first few days after launch where the servers where hammered, never had another streaming issue. 2024 is a great update, especially graphically. If you can live with a mostly non-fatal bug here and there it's a fantastic sim.
This is by far the best and the most honest review of msfs 2024 yet. Msfs 2024 has potential, but I ain't gonna pay 200$ or even a game pass subscription to do beta testing. What's the sympathy for these big, rich, greedy corporates? If fanboys accept every shit they serve, a day will come when these corporates will sell Flight Sim Development Kit and tell gamers to build their own game from scratch.
As the EA business model for several decades has shown, gamers aren't the most discerning consumers. Any other item people would be demanding to speak with the manager. Instead, it is, please sir may I have another.
I appreciate that this is a balanced critical review. Too often I see the issues of the sim used as an excuse to vent someone's personal vendetta against stuff like the flight model. The biggest issues with this game for me are how colossal the bugs are, and the frustrating restrictions and arbitrary ruleset of the career. I'm not a fan of having to fly the missions exactly to the path and criteria the game decides. The bugs here are potentially even beyond Cyberpunk level - They're not just bad, the game is broken. Even with how many good planes there are by default, there is literally not a single one without SOME SORT of major bug that is either immersion breaking or game breaking. I really wasn't happy with the dev stream after release either, it felt like their idea of making up was just promising more content, when in reality we can't reasonably engage with what's here in the first place. Thank you for saying what's real, great review.
Appreciate it mate, thank you. You know, when I made the Cyberpunk comment I wondered if it was as bad as this. Someone in the comments has said “did we all forget how bad Cyberpunk was?”. Not that it’s a contest, but I honestly think this is worse because of the sheer number on display and how so much is broken.
Totally agree to everything you've highlighted. MSFS 2024 is the ultimate when it comes to graphic reality, no questions there. BUT, for serious Flight Simmers (who use it as a simulator & not a game), it's a NO GO! The fun of Flight Simming is to start and reach you destination with all the realism in a flight and no bugs. Yes...once in a while there could be a system glitch, but 98% of the time you should be able to complete your "full" flight without any system based issues.....that is what the goal is isn't it? That is what serious simmers want to achieve. I very reluctantly gave up on MSFS (being a loyal MS Flight Simulator user since the early 2000's) after a lot of issues in MSFS 2020, and for the 1st time tried X-Plane. You can't compare the graphics, but I get 100% satisfaction of completing every flight without having to worry about the system crashing or hanging etc, etc, etc. Now hooked on to X-Plane for the consistency.
I agree 100% with everything you said! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the community! Only thing: I am more pessimistic that it will get that much better. I agree that most of the game/sim-braking bugs and errors will be patched and I am pushing 40 so I can wait :) -but the experience of my own 50h or so with MSFS 2024 has taught me that Asobo has no interest in making a 10/10 sim. They want to make a graphics engine with planes in it as this had the biggest impact in MSFS 2020 compared to earlier releases …or something like that, idk… to me it is also so frustrating because from the get go I had the impression that they never could decide if it should be a game with ties to simulation, but geared toward casual gamers -or a simulation for everyone. As a simulator it lacks in stability, usability, completeness and realism and as a game it lacks passable mission design (as a lot of them are cannot be finished) and fun! A casual gamer will try a few C172 missions, get bored or angry and will never pick it up again. So the profit orientation must have been all about the pre-release purchases, cashing in the good name that MSFS 2020 gave them. Now its out and in 4 years they will try again. “It will be better!” -don’t think so :/
A fine review, comprenensibly covering current headaches with MS2024. I agree with the 'we are all beta testers' statement, and perhaps they were being too courageous making us pay, to test the streaming which lays at the heart of the sims faults. Releasing at the time they did, the sales will have giving them a nice Christmas bonus, let's hope the New Year provides a more optimistic future. Thanks.
Couldn’t agree more mate. I do wonder if they realise the longer term damage this does for them. For example I won’t buy a new sim of their until a year after launch (unless for review purposes for you lovely lot!). Cheers 🍻
You sound like me in the intro, with all the gadgets, but it was the '8TB Porn storage' that made me sub. Have a good Christmas from us up here in Nottingham. Cheers Reg.
First time watching your channel and overly impressed. Finally and honest and accurate review covering the pros & cons and with a proper unbiased scoring. Loved the video, the level of details and for not kissing their a$$ like most shills trying to get on the good side of Microsoft/Asobo. This is the most accurate review that i've watched to date. Congratulations and you've got a new Sub & liked. Cheers and here's another thumbs up for an excellent job.👍
I am thinking of getting into flight simulation. As it stands right now, I would not touch MSFS 2024 with a ten-foot pole. I would probably go with X Plane 12 and/or MSFS 2020.
Whatever you do, make sure you try it! It’s genuinely a fantastic hobby within a hobby. XPlane was great but for my money msfs2020 is probably the best start right now.
@@peterlazuric5641 I think that's a wise choice. FS24 has potential, it will be a good sim eventually, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it as your first simulator in its present state.
XPlane if you want flight physics and proper aircraft handling. Ms2020 if you want eye candy. 2020 has okay flight physics (better than fsx) but nowhere near realistic enough to compete with XPlane. Myself and a couple of my friends (all pilots) love MSFS but the aircraft handling and the AI scenery generation make it comical. Hangars which house a single Cessna tall enough to put a 747. Lights and signs on taxiways. Floating lights at some airports (street lights. Not even airport lights). If you want a 'first sim' experience, go Microsoft. If you want realism without the eye candy, go xplane. Keep in mind though, if you have MSFS, Microsoft can pull the plug when they want as it's live service. XPlane is one you will have forever
I'm still on MSFS2020. My rig has cost me neary £4000. 45 fps solid with a HTC Vive Pro 2. Runway is visible from 3500' at 8 miles. I always try to approach to be directed into Base. Super simple. My 'Career Mode' is a RAF Courier in the IRIS Grob 115 T.1 Trainer. There are 16 RAF Stations in my Area. Midlands & Wales. All but 1 had a 3rd party scenery package. The missing Station, I got handy with SDK. Big Thanks to TAG21, SuperSpud and NickB007. I also have the IRIS Texan II Trainer :-) I have to see something fantastically advantageous in MSFS2024 for me to shell out.
MSFS 2020 was the alpha version of flight simulator. You’re now paying for and bug reporting for the final product which I’m reliably told (by myself) will be called Microsoft Flight Simulator 2028
I bought F/S 2020, and a lot of add-ons over the four years. and, as a flight-sim map, apart from the crafted items, it was okay from a height (which, is mostly, all that is needed to get on with learning/enjoying flying). I initially enjoyed looking at my own town and other places I've lived/visited, etc. Seeing that they were mostly 2D images or non-existent was disappointing, but not a deal breaker. However... Then being asked to buy into F/S 2024, 'improved' for more of the same, with no indication as to whether there was a lower price for those who faithfully invested in 2020, was off-putting to say the least. As such, I didn't bite, and when I posted my opinion as being that, on another you-tube flight-sim channel, it was either ignored, or didn't suit others, who were busy enthusing, as I did on the pending launch of 2020. Thank you for your review of 2024, and I also think it is a fair and unbiased review/opinion. I shall wait again, and see what develops before/if biting this time around.
You’re welcome mate, glad the review landed for you. And yes to exactly what you said… I do think 2024 could be great, but maybe in 2026. I will update my review probably in a years time or so and see how it’s been going. Appreciate your comment mate, cheers 🍻
Nice review mate. That's exactly how I felt and why after 1 month I requested a refund. The fact that it was immediately approved says a lot...they do know it's not by any way a final product as advertised. I'm a hard core simmer and after a month of constant frustration and disappointment (and little to no fun at all), I requested a refund. Not because I'll give up on it, on the contrary I know it will be fixed and it will be fantastic at some point. But out of principle of not accepting to be a heavily paying beta tester for them. And I think everyone should do this if we want to change the new normality of "everything will be sh***t on launch....this is what happens". No, this needs to stop. Have a happy holiday season and all the best!
I purchased the premium package before release, hoping the hype would pay off. On the second day after release, I couldn't load into an aircraft at all. I returned my purchase thru Steam. Wiped my hands of it. I'll continue to enjoy MSFS2020 and X-Plane until they get their act together. Even if 2024 gets working in 2025, server streamed assets are going to be a hard sell to a PC simmer like me.
Can't even get past the loading screen. First month was fine, but now, it gas lights me and says I'm not connected to the Internet despite me watching TH-cam
I love it, runs smooth and gives me a purpose to go fly rather than just a random flight for nothing. 2020 is garbage compared to this. Took off in a caravan on a snowy runway and the snow dust blowing up from the prop was awesome, it was blowing snow even after I was in the air until I gained altitude, truly amazing.
that's exactly what i've noticed through all the vids about it. msfs2024 is more"ready" for ga/bush pilots than airliners. And i write more because even there it's still quite buggy
To be fair, few real-life pilots have said that physics simulation is way better in FS2024 than in FS2020. However, this really has been a pricy beta test at best. In hindsight, the alpha test so close to release should have been a major red flag.
Started going down south when x box was introduced...going from a sim to a kids game. They will just get it right and hello it's msfs 2028 and here we go again
i think they did need to update 2020, at least as far as VR goes I always hard a hard time getting it dialed in. although 2024 did give a few bumps along the way, after the most recent update i was able to get a very smooth and nice looking setup fairly easily. i'm hoping that it keeps getting improved.
I have a series x dedicated to racing and flight sim.. loved getting to grips with the A321 on fs20, bought all the airbus controller and countless add ons.. it plays flawlessly.. i got 24 installed and to date ive not even got off the ground.. the airport looks terrible.. the cockpit is intruded by the jet bridge and as soon as you try to fly the whole thing crashes..not to mention the mouse issues!, my airbus controllers dont seem to work properly so i reload 20 with my add ons and have hassle free flights. Just wish i could improve the atc voices. 24 is a total no go for me id happily take a big install like fs20 did.. i have the space for it by having the 2nd series x dedicated to sims
The fact that when you do a career mission and your head is sticking out of the top of the plane and your passenger is hanging under the plane is a travesty for a billion dollar company to put this out just to make some cash by the end of the year. They basically are saying we have no respect for our customers and we will fix these issues when we get to it
Few thoughts after seeing more comments: whilst there are objective issues (XYZ bugs, ABC missing features) there is also the matter of our own expectations, and how realistic they are. One can't reasonably expect a sprawling new instalment of FS to be painless, especially nowadays. [People get annoyed about such things because it keeps happening, but then they behave as if it hadn't ever happened and go and buy the new releases. And complain. But if you're really so tired of being burned, maybe you shouldn't keep putting yourself up to be burned? Simples? :D ] If they further delayed it nobody would be playing it at all and that's scarcely better, is it? If you think so, then simply don't load it up for another 6 months or 2 years (depending on how much longer you wish they had taken). And yes, Asobo and MS make money out of it. That's what they do. My perspective on this sort of release is to treat it as a work in progress. Much of it will get fixed up over time. Don't fret it too much? Yet, at least. No other release of Flightsim has been without issues, no other version was ever 'finished'? I think we criticise too much. Not saying there's no reason to at all in this case merely that this is another example of folks getting very, very grumpy about a new release. I've been around since before Pacman and I've never known gaming to have such a (poisonous/antagonistic) atmosphere before. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good? And yes, of course I'm a paid sleeper agent for Microsoft. Keep taking your covid shots. ;)
as i was watching this i was flying my 747 after grinding my way to repairing the engines for 20mil then as i can finally see the runway on the flight it says you cannot continue and will be returned where you were..... awesome thanks microsoft glad i bought the aviator edition.
Excellent video, good to hear an honest review and not another tongue up the backside of MS/Asobo defending the release - which as you rightly say is shambolic.
A year from now, this will be a decent game.. We should have known it was going to be another beta game when they only tested their cloud servers at 200K connections. I have the game..I'll keep it and try it again from time to time. But, I still regularly play 2020 and really don't have any plans to switch over any time soon..
After 4 years we still cannot save a long haul flight with flight planner or do we have tower views. I hope they address some of the unfinished business of 2020 as well.
I elected to not purchase the pre-order and wait and see, my concern was the permanent online streaming requirement , I recall saying after yet another one of their SU fails early in the year how I suspect is they dont sort this server issue out for 2024 it will be the biggest launch fail in PC gaming, and it tears me up knowing I was right on the money... I am enjoying 2020 and plan to continue indefinitely, if by some miracle its all dandy in 12 months I may jump in but its unlikely fixable in my opinion..
Don't get too comfy with 2020. Don't forget Microsoft can pull the plug today. Once they pull the plug, you can't even launch it because "live service". Not enough people were vocal enough with 2020 being live service online only to keep Microsoft in line. Now that the Xbox kids gave them validation, 2024 is even more dependent.
This game is like Boeing and Airbus design a new plane, it's faulty, but they sell the plane to airline company for full price and then make commercial pilots do the test flights.
As a MSFS-series fan, I started FS in the early 90's. I might end up switching to X-Plane in the future. I wont touch FS2024. The sad part is how much I invested (spent) in MSFS2020. It would make most people sick, lol... 14:13 Giant trees from Avatar, lol
2024 is no different than any other version before it. It takes time in the real world environment to flush all the bugs out that a beta test can't reveal. Anybody that doesn't have the patience for it should wait a few months. I would prefer that because all the bitching is tiresome.
This is a game. If you cared anything about flying, you be flying fixed wing RC. They might look like toys, but that is REAL flying. As far as turning this game into something other gamers want to buy - first thing to know is that this already is a game. They are trying to sell you a suspension of disbelief, but the flight model is no where near realistic. No one wants a DCS level of difficulty with this sim. What we do want? A sim where we feel danger from the environment. Why is that so hard to figure out? Every game must have a nemesis. I should not be able to fly through the middle of a thunderstorm willy nilly. This game becomes an exercise in learning the gamey controls of each aircraft, instead of dodging thunderstorms on cross country trips.
I started simming in 2007 and used FSX and then Acceleration. I put in about 10,000 hours sitting in a chair pretending to be a pilot. It was fun, but it started to get crazy when Microsoft abandoned the software. I spent a lot of money on P3D trying to get a 64-bit sim that could support PMDG's big planes. Then I was asked to spend a lot of money again when Microsoft took up the sim again, but I balked at the expense. It did not seem fair to ask me to keep buying the same stuff again and again. I also think it was a big mistake to give the development of the sim to the French. Why couldn't the Aces team do it? After looking at a few videos of 2020 and being told that there were no seasons (which there were in 2007) or that you couldn't open the doors of your little Cessna 172 (you could in 2007, I think) I refused to get involved and put my peripherals away. Oh, and I'm not about to spend $1,000 for rudder pedals. I am not excited about being able to walk around a plane and wiggle the elevator or remove the pitot cover. A2A provided that functionality years ago. Active Sky gave us terrific weather. The third-party developers were publishing some really great stuff like full blown airports and big cities and great airplanes and automobiles on the road with white headlights in front and red taillights behind. It was terrific! Now, as the narrator bemoaned, the cost is three or four times what it used to be, third party developers are under the thumb of Microsoft, a perfectly competent American development team was replaced with an incompetent French team, and you must purchase everything all over again. I agree with the narrator that I feel like I'm being strung along by a confidence man who is adept at spewing future promises that always sound good but never really come to fruition. And who could not anticipate the problems of shifting most of the content to remote servers? The pressure of the sim on a computer is significant whether everything is installed locally or continually streamed over the network of the world, but the streaming approach adds new stress to network connections. Of course, the servers would crash! It's like fooling yourself into believing your electric automobile has no impact whatsoever on the environment or electricity is the panacea for the energy problems of humanity. And "gamefy" is not a word, Reggie. Shame on you for promoting bad grammar.
Oh you’ve brought back bad memories of me spending unfathomable amounts on Orbx scenery! It was always an expensive hobby I guess, but as long as things worked I was ok with it. This is why this is so shameful. Appreciate the comment mate… very well written out. Love Gamify Reggie xxxx
They canned their flight Sim team after acceleration. Microsoft in 2010 I think it was hired a team to "re enter" the flight Sim market, for the few days it lived (literally) it was an absolute failure. You purchased the game, had a single region to fly in and a cub. You had to purchase (from Microsoft) any area you wanted to fly in and any aircraft they made available... It lived less than a week. Now we are seeing the resurgence of that style from Microsoft just in another form.
Well that's your opinion and not mine. Flight Sim 24 is already the best flight simulator ever created. I backup my claims in a few videos showing exactly why that is. Software is never without issues, that's the nature of it. Throughout the years, games have gotten far larger and far more complicated. We're talking about a flight simulator that replicates a digital model of our entire world in realistic detail. We're not talking about an Atari 2600 game with squares and a blue background. This is aircraft with cockpits and flight modeling that resemble their real world models. Then we have VFR ability to fly over our house, see a 5ft x 5ft area on a beach where I stand, plus we can now even get out and walk. I don't care if they have a budget of $100,000,000 and team of 100,000, there's still going to be issues. We don't live in a perfect world, nothing is ever perfect. End result for me with my decades of playing flight sim since Win 95, 2500 hours in Flight Sim 20 and hundreds of hours in Flight Sim 24, I give Flight Sim 24 a solid 9/10 even with issues. Yes, it probably could of been held a bit longer in testing but it still would of had issues. That didn't stop me from clocking hundreds of hours (and counting) already. In the end overall, it is a giant step up from Flight Sim 20.
I grabbed XP12 when 24 was announced. All the promised features for 2020 to come "after launch" were promised for 24 after launch when they wouldnf give them to 2020. The 20 launch was a wreck... 24 is a disaster. Even pmdg has their leal team getting involved, inibilds is reverting planes they were releasing for 24 back to 2020. Bluebird blatantly called them out in a yt video. I am close to and have worked with a Dev team who are producing a third-party virtual airline program and even they are absolutely astonished without bad 24 is. Having played flight simulators, more specifically Microsoft ones since 95… I absolutely would not put it past Microsoft to shut down 2020 servers early to try to force people to transition to 24. My guess is around Q2 of 2026 they'll pull the plug, and because it's live service they know you won't even be able to launch it which would force people to move. It also doesn't help that asobo have stopped allowing comments on any of their TH-cam streams after the fact.
I did think it was quite puzzling but also quite telling that there was so little in the way of hype building for FS2024 in the months building up to release. There was no launch trailer, we only ever got two trailers for it. They didn't even bother with giving us a steady trickle of screen shots, like any other game/sim out there being promoted. I think they knew well in advance that things weren't coming together. They should absolutely have delayed it by six months. It was also a mistake having it day one on Xbox game pass. That more that anything contributed to the shambolic launch week. FS2024 has so much potential, visually at least its a huge step up from FS2024, but boy is it currently a mess.
A couple of things my fellow Cockney chums:
1) Sorry for being out for so long with no uploads.
Thanks. Fair and funny. ;)

X-Plane starting to look a bit better...
MSFS 2020 is 4 years old already, but still has runway edge lights in the middle of taxiways at the entries of runways . It doesn't look right when we run over the lights to enter the runways .
Like nuclear fusion is 30 years away? 😂

@@cockneygamer I know exactly. I used to do the TH-cam thing. I enjoyed it for a good long while. But it was sucking the life out of me and made gaming less fun. So I have a respect for those who do it and are honest.
Microsoft spent more on reviews, bot comments, and promo events than the actual development of this sim 😂.
They put out a game two years to soon. 2024 is not finished, and they overdid the hype. They did the usual by letting the player find the problems so they can fix it, which is a piss poor attitude towards their customers.
Good on you mate! First you tuber with a proper pair that sums up exactly how it is. Bloody well done!
Too kind mate, treating people like adults is all that we want right? If only game developers could see that! Cheers 🍻
Lol! There are Heathen flowers on a stupid hill in England, the guy was in awe, he should leave this simulation hobby..

Well don't worry, mummy make it all better.

@ Yes as well as most add ons ! The only add on I have not managed to get working is the Fenix due to the weird external app it uses that uses some seriously ancient windows libraries to work. 💯 mate. Everything what you said. FS24 is one big con job in its current form. Asobo/ MS did an excellent job in hoodwinking all the influencers in Las Vegas. Some simmers should get together and file a class action lawsuit in the US for defective product. That's the only way they will learn.
Smart thinking.
They pushed it out too early to take advantage of the all important holiday spending spree. I'm sticking with 2020 until they're finished with the beta testing that their customers paid to unwittingly be part of. A big thank you to the participants. It should be a great sim in a few months.
I concur.

Really appreciate you sharing this mate as I never touched the VR aspect of the game, so good for others to see your comment. Cheers to you mate 🍻

Thank you. Incels like you do a great service to our community by having the time to make necessary videos like this.
If you press ctl-alt-delete you can stop MSFS when it crashes,
10:45 that dance move is called 'the gandalf'
❤
Meme coment
I tried taxiing under the skybridge at KDEN and it said I crashed. Put my plane in the air, and deleted my SID. also everytime I exit a flight the game soft locks. 100% of the time. This is why I take a break from my hardcore simpit for a month or two at a time.
I've never been so motivated to take a 747 off from my uncle's field, as much as now. I'll be sure to use an exterior view..😂
Love the review 👊🏽
I bought it and am very disappointed it was released before it was finished. Love career mode but for me it is riddled with problems with graphics and aircraft. Even your pictures show at 04:46 & 06:14 show parked aircraft at least 6 feet in the air. Agree with all you say just hope they sort it out.
I love the part when my passenger prefers to walk along when I fly the aircraft .😂
I couldn't agree more with everything you said, sadly.
Kathmandu ATC tried to vector me into a mountain by dropping me to 11,000 feet too early last night.
"Please expedite your descent...." "NO!"
6:12 Didn't know Cirrus made a VTOL trainer! 😂 This game never ceases to amaze me with the amount of bugs I've seen and heard about. How it ever passed QC and got released is a tale for the ages. Definitely dodged a bullet by not preordering.
still can't believe I paid for a 2024 beta...
Finally, a TH-camr who calls out this shit, I too am sick of these games released 2 years too early. And kudos for not being a white knight like all the other flight sim so called youtubers.
Appreciate it mate… I don’t like calling out other channels by name. They are more successful, bigger and simply better at editing than I am… but for sure they aren’t calling it like it is
@@cockneygamer There's more than a few, unfortunately. I won't call out any, they already know who they are 😉
My msfs 20 is uninstalled.
Appreciate your comment mate, very kind of you to say.
And yes, spot on. How much are gamers willing to keep getting shafted?
Excellent evaluation. Well done!
Cheers Reg.
Haha, appreciate the sub mate. Glad to have you onboard with the rest of the gang. Merry Christmas! 🤶
Bravo!!!!!! I’m in for the long haul 😊
I'll try it. In 4 years, when my computer catches up, and they sort the issues somewhat.
@@cockneygamer Thank you for your reply it was greatly appreciated.
I also have the IRIS Texan II Trainer :-)
I have to see something fantastically advantageous in MSFS2024 for me to shell out.
MSFS 2020 was the alpha version of flight simulator. You’re now paying for and bug reporting for the final product which I’m reliably told (by myself) will be called Microsoft Flight Simulator 2028
9800x3d with 4080super, runs fine in vr for me. On pimax crystal light
Best review I have seen yet. The best part being your honesty, unlike the other fan based twits. Very enjoyable, thanks.
Can't even get past the loading screen. First month was fine, but now, it gas lights me and says I'm not connected to the Internet despite me watching TH-cam
A lot of isp's throttle all MSFS content. If I connect through a vpn the connection problems instantly go away.
Mine won't start most of the time. Most aircraft shut themselves off about 15 minutes into a flight..... I'm back to 2020 and plane 12..........
Simples? :D ]
If they further delayed it nobody would be playing it at all and that's scarcely better, is it?
Appreciate it mate, thank you. 🍻
I won't be buying it until 2026 at the earliest. That gives it a bit more time to be working as a proper launch.
A year from now, this will be a decent game.. We should have known it was going to be another beta game when they only tested their cloud servers at 200K connections. I have the game..I'll keep it and try it again from time to time. But, I still regularly play 2020 and really don't have any plans to switch over any time soon..
"maybe this just isn't the game for you" as Marinaa would say
After 4 years we still cannot save a long haul flight with flight planner or do we have tower views. I hope they address some of the unfinished business of 2020 as well.
if it wasnt on game pass i wouldnt be playing.
It was so HARD for me to give this video a like!
Right before I hit the thumbs up I noticed the count was at 747!
I did hit the button.
Amen

This pretty much sums up what everyone is experiencing. I agree it’s frustrating more often than not. But sometimes it’s just pure comedy
This game is like Boeing and Airbus design a new plane, it's faulty, but they sell the plane to airline company for full price and then make commercial pilots do the test flights.
Yeah... I think this is what Boeing actually do 😕
As a MSFS-series fan, I started FS in the early 90's. I might end up switching to X-Plane in the future. I wont touch FS2024. The sad part is how much I invested (spent) in MSFS2020. It would make most people sick, lol... 14:13 Giant trees from Avatar, lol
Seems like Asobo killed the golden goose. I’m sticking with 2020 permanently.

Glad to have you onboard friend, welcome to the gang!
