Why does it feel like the planes are gliders? They want to continue flying. I can do a slip maneuver while coming in for landing power off and the plane will continue to want to fly, it does not do this in real life OR in Microsoft flight simulator 2020. In 2024, the plane just wants to continue to fly and not come down. This is not how it feels in real life, if your engine goes out, your plane needs to be on a specific glide speed or you’re dropping down pretty FAST

100% Agreed. Bought VR + joysticks just for Elite, and it is fucking awesome. Sad that parts of it suck.

Having played Remake, the original, crisis core and watched Advent Children, this game is like a solid 9/10. It could've been 9.5 or maybe even 10 but I do feel like the game is dragged out a bit too much. But for some reason I don't really get bored, just a little bit fatigued by Cosmo Canyon but I can still go through entire regions just fine. What brought it down was some of the side content and minigames. I'm fine with most of them and even liked a few but some just really annoyed me (Gilde de Chocobo, Cait Sith's chapter 11 section, 3D Brawler for example). I hope they focus more on the quality aspect of minigames for part 3 That's just a problem with making this project 3 parts. If they had made it into 2 parts it could've solved a lot of pacing issues. Because it's in 3 parts, it's also not really possible to have a truly satisfying conclusion at the end of the first 2 parts since they're going to save up everything for a big reveal in part 3 where everything comes together and finally makes sense

I recently started playing this game because I got a month of gamepass. I’m pretty disappointed with MSFS2024. It’s good when it works but I’ve had so many issues it’s not even funny. Sometimes it just gets stuck in a loading screen forever, sometimes the controls freak out and I can’t reliably control the plane, the stats don’t work properly. controller input affecting popped-out EFB window by scrolling up and down and zooming in and out when it’s not even in focus. There’s not even a way to disable this in the controls as far as I can see. just to name a few. Not even mentioning the inability to download and install content, instead it all has to be streamed. On an FAQ i read that 2024 was supposed to have faster loading screens. I laughed when I read this because I can literally start 2020, and get into a plane by the time that 24 is still loading. In general for me it’s just a buggy mess and I feel like the loading screens finish before everything is actually loaded. Career mode is fun when it works but I’ve had many issues where I’ve done something properly but the game didn’t recognize it or recognized it too early/late which makes the NPC tell me to do something which doesn’t make sense anymore. MSFS2020 is much much more seamless but I have to admit that 24 is better in some areas. I would prefer 2020 with just the extra stuff 24 added though. The game just isn’t finished yet. There’s literally popups telling me content is ”Coming Soon”. Wdym coming soon??? If it’s showing up in the game but not actually implemented that really tells me that the game is not finished. Everything should be in a finished state with the initial version. Some issues and bugs are to be expected with the first version of many things nowadays but there’s just so many things that aren’t finished.

My main problem with Elite Odyssey in VR is that i can't get decent FPS at any graphics settings other than VR-LOW - and thats while running a 7800X3D and a 4090. (using the HP Reverb G2)

At anytime MS may decide that MSFS isn’t bringing n enough cash, they will dump the entire thing and leave everyone on the side of the road, just like they did with MSFS 2000. X-plane developers are true FS geeks, and are dedicated to providing a true sim.

Frontier is run by morons who else would leave a awful gray screen instead of finishing VR for the on foot stuff? They could do a horrible job on the on foot VR and still beat the crap out of the dreaded gray screen. but of course when you are looking for an excuse not to do something i guess any excuse will do. .

I recently got game pass so I could try MSFS 24 and I have to be honest I am disappointed pretty much all around. Within 5 mins I already knew I will not buy it. As someone who bought the PremDeluxe for 2020 I love that they let you import the old content + marketplace stuff... you know if it ever releases. I really like the idea of the EFB and the overall visuals are stunning. That's about all the good things I have to say. My least favourite part of MSFS24 is the forced aspect of having to do all the pre-flight crap. Why can't the co-pilot do it? I can't think of any thing less interesting. I enjoy doing the start up procedures, I like starting cold and dark. But come on, taking off covers and removing wheel chocks every time? Yawn. It's one of those things that sounds like a cool immersive feature, but really it's fun for the first few flights, then it's just a ball ache. Then there's the lack of co-pilot checklist reading. Did my co-pilot die? Why isn't he reading it out as I do it? Yes I am aware you can mod in the 2020 version, but I shouldn't have to, this is something that should be stock. If I was flying a small air craft on my own, sure then it's just me. But any plane where a co-pilot would realistically be should be a real checklist talk through. The fact that they removed the ability for the co-pilot to do the checklist (autocomplete) is also a brain-dead move. While admittedly I do prefer to do it myself anyway, the option should still be there that's one of those features that would help for the newbies. When it comes to the streaming content... Planes SHOULD be local. I don't mind the game world streaming, but the planes should be locally stored. At the very least give me the option which to store and which to stream. I don't personally care about career mode, I'm sure some people love it, but if I want to go that deep to have a career I'll just learn to fly a real plane. 😅

I have TS2024 but found it too laggy and had far too many bugs to be able to enjoy a fly. So I'm back enjoying the simplicity of MS2020 until the new game is fixed.

On the topic of Cloud's personality - I played the original FF7 back when I was a sweet 16 year old, and found him pretty annoying back then too tbh. He needs a few slaps on the cheek and be told to look on the bright side of things. Then came FF8, and Squall was even worse. Genuinely loved the games, but this JRPG male protagonist moodiness that was prevalent then doesn't really work that well today I'd say - different standards and different ideals.

Completed it on PS5 and my two biggest gripes were the the open world; feels oddly flat and on rails - spot on. And yes, the game is just crammed with filler. A player shouldn't reach the credits and feel like Andy Dufresne emerging from a sewage pipe. 😁

You have to play these games in Japanese with subtitles if you don't want to be so annoyed with the writing and performances. Only way to do it. Great review

Important note to add here: If you're a fan of FF7, this is probably a 10/10 game. If you're a 'casual' then you may find some of the characteristics frustrating. I've come into this more as a casual so the review score reflects that stance. I'm giving as best a balanced view as I can, even though I openly admit I may not be the target audience here. And finally, an 8/10 is an excellent game in my view and I've had a great time with Rebirth. But I'm not in the camp of others who call this the 'perfect' game either. Just my two cents.
