Thank you for this nice review. What I don't understand is that you rave for 10 minutes about how good this game is to then give it a score of 7. That is 7 out of 10, I guess? You do have very high standards! What must a game achieve to earn a 9 or 10, I wonder?

I put the game on my wishlist after the very promising demo. Now that I've seen the video and looked at the reviews im glad I didnt buy it. Sad that this game isn't as good as the miniseries.

I think most people forget that this game is still In very early access, and I’m pretty sure the devs threw everything together last minute just so they can release it, like things such as the lobby and ui, and just some optimization is lacking. Maybe if this game goes as its roadmap promises, we can actually see a better game arise from the ashes, of a wildfire of disappointment. I have my hopes up, this game is still in infancy.

I still remember the first time I lunched the flight tutorial using my HTC Vive - it was breathtaking - one of the most immersive things I have ever experienced in VR. I was using a gaming laptop at the time that thermal throttled and I upgraded to a desktop because I wanted (and still want) the most amazing VR experience I can get. I love the cockpits - so far as the look goes, and dream of a game where I can interact with the cockpit in VR. I know combat is where most of the focus is for space sims, but I love the exploration. For me, the visuals and the journeys (love that it takes time to get places - space is huge and Elite is the one game that really seems to get that mostly right. It is so close to being a really great game - and then the developers seem to take it in directions that leave me shaking my head and wishing they loved the amazing experience they have created. I do understand one of the lead developers is looking to get the Star Citizen VR working... I am very much hoping that comes along in an update in the smae way and with the success of No Man's Sky VR mode - I have only played NMS in VR and could not play it any other way!

Completely disagree with the body cam angle. It's what makes it, removing would risk it feeling like any other game, love the clunkiness and I feel you do get great angles where you point the gun.

For the record, you said the maps were fantastically laid out and have tons of details. These are all asset packs. Ive seen the house in many horror games. The abandoned school was used in the first unrecord leak a long time ago. While whats here is cool, they just added the post processing, gunplay and basic win and lose functionality and are charging $30

The only things I miss about elite VR is my Hotas setup and voice attack. I had over 4000 hrs in VR before odyssey came out and took my dlc $$ and told me to get lost. Thankfully I found No Man's Sky which I now have also over 4000 hrs in VR. Frontier can kiss my ass and I can't wait till they are gone.

if any VR-only players want to get together and play sometime, let’s. set up a EDVR Discord server or something.

I got no problem with the delay when aiming your weapon around, I quite like it to be honest. Although my complaints are: No option to focus when aiming. Remove the drones flying around, its easy to abuse and ruins the gameplay loop. Placing the bomb should'nt be possible at spawn, add points of interest where you have to place the bomb. (Right now the meta is place the bomb at spawn, wait for opposing team.) Give us headsets, and suppressors. Add weapon custimization, create your own loadouts. Give us more gamemodes, preferrably that lasts longer than just a few minutes. I'll give them creds for what they've done so far, but they NEED a bigger team in order for the game to succeed in the long run, I don't think 2 devs can keep a game going while meeting expectations, its just too much for 2 people to handle.

I actually won a free Quest 2 a few years back and completely agree with all your comments. Doing station evacuations, and fuel scooping specifically was just a real sight. after showing it off to show the wife (who only plays mobile games on her phone) a few times i actually came back from work to find her wearing my headset trying to do the game tutorials for a couple hours at a time

I agree with you on what you have stated in this video. I only play games now in VR and really don't enjoy any game in flat screen anymore. I was bummed out when Odyssey came out and you are taken to a flat screen in your headset. It would be awesome to walk on a moon and explore it on foot in VR, what an amazing and imursive thing that would be. Since we can't do that is why I no longer play the game, so sad for some of us.

Imo the body cam gives the fps game more immersion, it feels like I’m on liveleak watching combat war videos.

For some reason I totally thought this was unrecorded And they just changed the name. I did get the game. It is fun. I think this one is more PVP focused and when unrecorded comes out it's more of a PVE by the looks of it

this should be what the unrecord team uses to inprove their game... im having fun but it is so fucking annoying trying to aim and swaying way too much

I feel you got it right when you mentioned in theory these guys are walking around with their weapons sighted from their chest since it's a bodycam. I like the move toward realistic graphics, but yet another take on PvP does nothing for me. I'm clearly not the target audience. Also the pixelated/blurry images when holding some weapons is quite distracting. What is that meant to be?

Can't get it to look decent on a 3060, the gameplay i did play was kinda underwhelming.

This game feels like overly modded GMod IMO

Bodycam as a concept looks amazing, but it's still lacking content and game modes even in its early access state. Definitely one to add to you watchlist to see how it progresses. Also, apologies at 01:19 where a rogue graphic appears on screen. I forgot to take that out. Stupid Reggie. Love to you all xxx

ED in VR and HOTAS with Voice attack with some HSC voices or ED copilot is the best space game or maybe best of all. real space commmander. o7

The day I stopped playing ED is the day they confirmed no VR for Odyssey and havent been back since that day many years ago. I got used to the other stuff but yeah that killed it for me.

I've played ED in VR right from the start in beta ten years ago on an Oculus DK2 headset. There isn't a single game I have played as much as ED and all of it in VR, I've only occasionally switched to pancake mode to make screenshots. Odyssey was such a let down, the terrible gun play, the ridiculous engineering grind I just can't be ar**d to bother with but on top of it all that stupid virtual flat screen on foot was the worst thing they ever did. Such a shame.

Great Video! I agree with everything you said. As someone who has several thousands of hours in VR in Elite and loved it ... Odyssey was the final straw for me ... a real kick in the gonads by Frontier. You didn't mention how Frontier just knifed the console players in the back ... here is your game, have fun ... oh by the way .. F*** you ... we're not supporting console anymore, i guess you can have a PC copy ... A lot of console players have consoles so they don't need a gaming rig, don't have to play the upgrade game every 2 years to enjoy their experience ... I moved on to DCS or known as Digital Combat Simulator (which is an AMAZING VR game, better than Elite). It's base game is free too, hollah out to me if you haven't tried it and want it. It's a beautiful game and the devs Eagle Dynamics are constantly listening to feedback and improving the game.

Since 2018 I have been playing Legacy Horizons in VR mode. I also have a HOTAS X 56, which is very convenient in the “fa off” mode. This is a very cool experience. And I don’t plan to switch to Odyssey yet. I still have 1080, so optimization is important to me. Plus, I never have to take my helmet off while playing because I never use additional sites or resources. The game itself is enough for me. I've been playing Elite since day one in VR mode for 2100 hours, and I always use only the in-game mechanics of the game. And I don’t plan to leave the Elite. Even if the Legacy servers are closed, I will continue to play Odyssey, because flying spaceships in VR mode is the most unique experience among all space simulators. Shooter? Pfff.. Nonsense. For this there is Pavlov VR))) But the Elite exists in order to convey the experience of realistic flights.

Great video I recently just completed my first play through on Aliens going to ng+ run but I love this game for a small studio they nailed the atmosphere action and so much more. Sure it’s got a few bugs but I can overlook it just because how dam good it is. One thing I love it is the the hunt meter getting into any normal battle is stressful but onslaught is like OH Shit moment. I sure hope we get a sequel for this

Oh you forgot one of the biggest crimes...Odyssey engine performance hit in VR. Game runs MUCH smoother in Horizons VR than Odyssey. How is your game performancewise? What multiplier are you using on HMD. Right now with my "old" 3060 Laptop I cannot go over 1.0x HMD. It turns into a slide show. An additional note: With quest 3 passthrough and Virtual Desktop and Reality Mixer from steam, you can open a "window" to reality to see your keyboard whenever you tilt your head down by 10 degrees. This enables use of keyboard and mouse in VR and makes transition from full VR to pancake in odyysey bearable.

Thank you for your honest opinion!! I also fell for the stupid Odyssee Addon and got totally disappointed that it shits on VR. Also I got tricked by different videos, from whioch I thought it would have VR. To all Elite Fans: Don't let YOUR fun get disturbed by those stupid developers!! Uninstall Odyssee and play YOUR Elite like the proud space-captain that YOU ARE and like YOU DESERVE to!!! :)

Never played any VR, let alone Elite (though I'm on it 2D every day). Loved the video and the chat was hilarious too. Well presented and very interesting.

The hard reality is that the developers are only doing the bare minimum to expand the game without improving it. They've made some lucky decisions to make the game popular but they don't understand why.

A bit off-topic, but I believe the firefighting theme in games is just so underexplored. There’s only ever been a few games that let you slip in the boots of fireman, and most aren’t even good, like Emergency call 112 or Firefighting Simulator. I think there should be more firefighting games, an excellent game I could think of is for example Real Heroes: Firefighters

Well done. Playing Chernobylite now after watching your video on it. Saw this pop up and was excited until I saw how they managed to squander an interesting premise. A spy thriller could have been fascinating. Play as the KGB attempting to cover up news getting out. Create propaganda and disinformation to save the USSR's reputation. Maybe someone else will do it justice. "3 out of 10. Not great, just terrible."
