Weathering has been the bane of my existence for maybe 10 years. I probably learned more in this one video then I have over the years. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Really means a lot that
Ya totally it's concise. Good job!
This is really damn helpful. I've been on the fence about painting my Land Raider and exactly how I'm going to do it, but now I'm feeling rather confident about it
Have fun dude!
Wow!!!!! Your thumbs are crazy looking!!!!!!
Thanks its a condition. #disability
I live in North Pole and you can drive there easily. We even have a post office. It’s just outside of Fairbanks AK
😂 excellent! I shall get my coat ready!
Dude this looks fantastic.
Thanks so much
So awesome, love this look. Would you ever consider doing a 40k thousand sons model in grimdark? I haven't seen anyone really ever pull it off and I'd love to see how you'd tackle it.
Now that’s a challenge accepted
@@TheFeralPainter looking forward to it!!
Great video as always
Absolutely adore this style of painting. Will you be continuing the various legions beyond the ones you have already done? I wonder how some of them like white scars or RG/NL would look done like this
Love your style and how you give a full showing of the process. Really helps me get ideas on my next project.
I'm so glad!
Awesome as always! 🔥 Shared proudly on my Instagram 🙂
You're the best!
Great looking Miniature. Also learned a few new ways to weather i have never tried before

Hello from Normandie 🖖😊 excellent travail de vieillissement de peintures merci pour cette vidéo et à bientôt pour d'autres techniques 😉👌
Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video! I always wanted to see how the chipping medium reacts so this has come Just in time for my chaos rhino tank I'm working on for my battle honors 🤘🏻
Glad it was helpful! Hope u have fun with tank pal
@TheFeralPainter Cheers 🤘🏻 you have been a great help with my venture in grim dark, I've used a lot of what I've learnt from you on my Flesh tearers Dreadnought as well as experimenting with enamel washes on minis like daughters of khaine. You mentioned in a previous video that your not a fan of Eavy Metal and though I got it down pat and used to enjoy it, I now enjoy making the minis less cartoony and more fitting in their environment and the world they live in.
Lovely. I tried that Vallejo chipping medium myself (no AK at my flgs) and found it a bit fussy as well.
Yea it’s quite thick isn’t it. I much prefer the ak one
Awesome! I have a pump action BB gun and from 25 yards and 2 out of a possible10 pumps, I creates a great near picture heavy stubbed damage effect
Ooooo ama have to get mine out and fire some shots 😝 if anyone asks why I shall reply “for the emperor!”
@@TheFeralPainter😂😂😂 "What do you mean by "You're not allowed to shoot tanks here in the courtyard..." - I do it for the Emperor...stopping me is pure heresy...!!"
Perfect ❤❤
Thanks
Superb
Thank you! Cheers!
very well done.
Thank you kindly!
Great tutorial. I use similar techniques for Death Guard. Often I say that I don't paint, but rather I dirt my models.
Sounds great
You are a magician 😅
Literally
8:34 "the streaks look quite bad"
*Still* looked amazing!
👌🏻👍🏻
Absolutely love this effect and it's such a great tutorial. And I really appreciate that you've put down all the paints etc in the description. I've never painted this way before but I want to try on my next project. One question I have is there anything extra you did with the tracks and the nore metallic silver/grey parts? Thanks!
Just a dry brush of metalic
And also thanks so much for your kind comment means so mych
Great video mate - what colours would you use for an iron warriors scheme? Would you airbrush with the same ones as your recent guide? (Gun metal, thrash metal etc.)
I would use different hit me up on insta n ill give u some ones I’d use 😉
Another awesome video. I found that putting on the crackle paint first doesn't work if you're priming with a rattle can as the latter dissolves it (I think). I guess it works just as well to put it on afterwards if you can match the colours well enough.
Thanks man! Never had a problem with dissolving, not sure if lacquer paint from rattle can causes it but airbrush never had a problem. Thanks again man
Thanks for another amazing tutorial. Consider me entered.
I’d love to see a few Word Bearer models brought to life by your hand.
Great suggestion! Thanks again
Looks amazing! If you're brave enough you can use a woodburning tool to do battle damage, as well. It works wonders but you can overdo it fairly quickly.
Thanks for the tip!
@TheFeralPainter very welcome! Sent to my gaming friends, just about to start painting my SoH army and I'm going to have to try these techniques!
Loved this video! Really learnt a lot from it. I had a question, do you think black armour is harder to weather or should the same techniques apply? Thanks!
Yea slightly harder to weather. And recommend different way but that’s coming soon
hmm, volume could be higher. Kinda had to pump it way up to hear you!
Fun video though! Thank you
Sorry about that
crackle paint before the priming! interesting
What kind of airbrush are you using?
I have the ultra 2024 now, its fab. I also still have my infinity
Great video! I am not in the comp and I am not an Insta-fan, but I do have a question if I may. What's the best way to ensure weathering powder stays on the model, particularly when it's a model that get a lot of handling? I have used spray varnish, which is okay for darker colours but it seeems to dissolve (or whatever) lighter colours. Thanks.
Good question! For fixing I recommend applying varnish before then whilst drying put pigment powders on
Something I recommend you give a try is mixing pigment powder with water and then brushing it on to certain areas. Very interesting results on metallics and such
Yea done that on my mortarian looks great!!!
If you bought dark brown chalk and broke it up, mixed into elmar's glue, could you apply that as mud in the wheels and on tracks? Would that look like legit mud?
did you paint the treads or the circular thing that holds the lascannons with metal? those scratches looked really good! or is it just the mecha primer?
Just dry brush metal
On
@@TheFeralPainter thank you for the reply! i love your styles especially the tyranids which helped me make my own :D wanted to see if you had any vehicles since im getting into chaos knight and i see this and the ceratus vid :D
Enjoy
Maybe I'll finally finish up my LR I bought a few years ago, heh
Enjoy man!!
Tried crackle paint before and it sorta just flaked off. Didnt stick to the mini, any advice? Been following your painting tutorials for a while and love it!
Mmm strange what brand did u use?
It was the ak light and dry crackle effects. Don't know if it's similar or not. I used it in basing and worked great but not on an unprimed mini
I'd love to try this with my Blood Angels and Black Templar vehicles.
The red-brown in this stands out great under the green but I feel like on a red or black vehicle it may get a little lost. Any ideas?
Use black. Or use a steel color
Hydra Dominatus
Would you be able to do this with brushes?
Yes
How much time after applying the chipping fluid do I have to use the effect? Can I apply the fluid and the coats of paint on top then perform the chipping say, a day or two later?
I apply the chipping fluid. Wait about 15/20 then apply paint then wait for that to dry; then chip away
All that effort but left the mold lines on all the tracks.
Just a headsup, there is a _VERY_ loud and ear shattering 'POP" in the audio when you open this video :(
Apologies
Hi l was under the impression that you should prime before putting any sort of paint on plastic but you don’t do that . I’m guessing it doesn’t matter
The brown is a primer
Not sure what u said but yes!
@@TheFeralPainter Nothing special, just two German cleverclogs among themselves...

Im just staring at that thumb waitig for it to catch the blade, so i dont feel like the only idiot here
Hahahaa
...there's a 40K faction that shoots bullets?
Yep
OK, which ones? @@TheFeralPainter
Ekk, cutting towards yourself with a razor :(
great video. Please turn up the mic. way to quiet. if you're not sure listen to the video before you post it. Most brits have this issue. not sue why.
👍🏻
Puncture... Not picture
Might want to slice away from your thumb instead of towards it…
👍🏻
If you slice towards your thumb you have a lot more control of the blade
