Man your channel was randomly recommended to me yesterday with the first T-90 video and I'm genuinely shocked at your production value considering how few videos you have. I love your content so far from what I've seen, I'm really looking forward to more! Also I hate to be that guy, but if you could continue to do more modern vehicles I'd super appreciate it. I know it's sacrilege, but I've never been that interested in WW2 vehicles, so anything post-war is super interesting to me.
Welcome then! I try to make the selection of models more varied, so there will be some WW2 in the future, but of course more modern stuff as well, and also (finally) some WW1
@@NightShiftScaleModels Same thing, saw previous T-90 video in my recommendations yesterday, and now I'm a subscriber. And I'm not even into modelling myself. But I can appreciate your skill and attention to details. Looking forward for your WW1 projects!
I kind of tripped over your channel. I am amused by your sense of humor, amazed by your ability to put some lipstick on a pig and to effortlessly pull off a quality job. You make it look easy. Some of your techniques sound like they won't work, but you get great results. I have just subscribed. Keep up the great work!
The algorithm brought me here, but I have to say I really rather liked your mentality of 'making things over the top' to sell the appearance of a material or an effect on something so small, that's a really fascinating feature that makes a lot of the extremely detailed minis and models I've seen make a lot more sense. Cool stuff man, real cool stuff.
Night Shift: I hand paint all of my chipping Also Night Shift: Guys check it out I think I figured out that you can use chipping fluid to make chipping effects
This 'Inverted' Chipping method was actually something ive done to cheat at getting the smaller light coloured chips, i find it works really well for that, especially on smoother shapes. I really enjoy watching you experiment and id love to see (when you feel up to it) you go absolutely hog wild on a kit, of pretty much any kind. Thanks for another great time at your workbench, Martin. ~Jay
I'd actually still prefer a brush or a sponge on flatter surfaces, but these more complex models are easier to chip with HS as the paint wear always starts around edges. Maybe the sweetest spot will be to combine all 3 methods together.
@@NightShiftScaleModels Almost certainly, though I think for lots of very light chipping, sort of like road rash, the fluid would be the most effective with it still looking mostly natural.

I literally get excited when i see a new video from him because i love seeing what he does next and how his projects turn out. Uncle Night Shift you're the boss

Considering the Revell T-90 is meant as more of a table-top game piece than a realistic miniature, you have shown how painting something well, even with just 2-3 different colors and a good wash, can really make almost anything look a LOT better (maybe even better than it should?).

I, m a bit mad at you complaining about the build and then come up with a absolute masterpiece. I build this one too and I can hold my own but in comparison with your build.... Omg. 😂😉
Your build video of this tank popped up in my recommended, so I decided to check out the end results: the amount of details you were able to paint on the model! Insane! Very well done :D
cuz I ran out of flat black 😂 nah, glossy paint reduces the chance of orange peel effect as its naturally smoother than flat paints. but I also ran out of flat black.
At 8:15 the numbers you're peainting are railroad oversize indexes. They are for railroad personnel to understand by how much a payload on a railroad car exceed usual dimensions. In simple terms, by how much load sticks outside the car.
With all the time, effort, and detail you put into your models, "lazy" would be the last way I would think of to describe you, Martin. Your build looks great despite the kit's shortcomings.
why was this recommended to me? why am i bingewatching this? Oh shit ive already subscribed, ive literally never been interested in modeling how did the google overlords know Id love this before I did??
Loving the work here. I just finished building my Modelcollect 1/72 T-72AV and your video pop up. This is a pleasant surprise. I'll give your method a try once I have started painting mine.
Stunning as always. Would you be interested in painting something in UN white? It seems like a pretty odd color scheme to paint and weather authentically.

Not really a modern tank guy but this has given me the inspiration to try some newer stuff other than the regular german and british amour. About lighter colors making things look bigger, there's a phenomenon where saturation doesn't really scale. Also, bright light can add additional desaturation which becomes important in CGI, and the effect can reduce any "toylike" qualities in a miniature. Fantastic channel, sir. I've been a modeler since the 70's and I learn something new every video. :) (Edited to add), also since a scale model is sort of like looking at a full sized object from far away, distance hazing will lighten the object a bit too. I visited the battleship New Jersey (twice--ha!) and noticed how much darker the paint looks when you are close enough to touch it vs across the river where you can see the whole ship.

I like a light blackish brown wash.....with thinner. Very easy! Tends to dry lighter! Even perfect store bought models could use a little weathering! Just a brush and abit of paint....and plenty of thinner....if it’s to heavy! Careful...it peels paint. Very easy....takes 5 minutes!
ya know... although you probably wouldn't touch a games-workshop kit with a 10 foot pole, the way you went about painting this one (backwards?) and the drybrush on the tracks may really lend itself to speed (and painting up several tanks in one project)... definitely adding this idea to my must try list!
