I will always choose the Proteus over the Modern, looks wise. I just love it. But also, I was around when that kit was first plastic and you got two in a box.
The size of the carrier opening doesn't bother me. The coolness of the model outweighs any such concerns. The best part of these videos for me comparing the other models. And the description of the subject tank, and the options. Excellent. I never cared for the original Rogue Trader Land Raider, but these ne Horus Heresy models are brilliant. I've gotten a few. 👍
@@matthewrider267 It's more mobile bunker than Assault vehicle, but it does look proper cool when you're taking pictures from a table perspective and it's in a street with troops peering around a corner.
All of the tanks are severely undersized. I'm currently building a Rhino and it's laughably small! It should be about twice the size. But if they made them a realistic scale, collectors would run out of space and money very quickly.
Yeah not sure if you’re new to the hobby but they have never been in scale for 30 years and I doubt they ever will be. For the reasons you mention but also the size of the sprues and the number of pieces would increase thus resulting in higher price which currently people outside of UK find crazy. Secondly they have a game system attached so making them bigger would result in less space on the board too.
@@Sup3rSaiy3n I was introduced to 40K with RTB01, which is why the new plastic Horus Heresy interests me. I have a lot of nostalgia for Beakies! The first time I saw a Rhino in hand, I was surprised by how small it was, but that's even more apparent next to today's "true scale" marines!
Is there any chance you could show the Spartan varian next to the old Land Raider? I’m curious whether the old one is closer in size to Proteus or Spartan
Currently building a Deathguard army, and I was looking at Land raiders for transportation. Didn't like the look of the "modern" 40k ones, but the Proteus look gorgeous! Already put one in my Amazon Wishlist, lol. I'll have to corrupt it a bit, though😂
Did you end up getting it? I am trying to pick between it and the resin armoured proteus from the GW site - the Armoured one just seems more DG to me! But it is twice the price - so I guess it fits!
One thing to keep in mind, is in general, almost all the WH40k vehicles are not fully to the same scale as the figures such as troops and whatnot. If you do any sort of actual math on fitting space marines in a troop carrier or through doors, the vehicles are just between 20-40% too small. To make them fully to scale would make the models harder to manage and more expensive. Remember, they're a model company first, then game company. Though you might expect a model company to keep more strictly to scale? But in general, they want to sell models. That's why Titans aren't as big in the model form as they are in lore. They couldn't sell a 10' tall resin Warlord Titan to keep it vaguely in scale. That's also why they avoid mention scale for a lot of vehicles, too. Or if you do, they're sort of abstract and often contradictory. Like a Guard foot soldier saying 'It must've been a hundred meters tall!'. So yeah, don't get too hung up on scale. It's just not right, and it's intentional.
It's a tabletop wargame, scale is all over the place. Vehicles being slightly smaller scale doesn't bother me. Mk4 marines being a bit shorter than Mk6 - who cares.
Landraider is just like pizza, you can always appreciated it no matter in what shape or colour it is
i like a deepdish dark angel variant with extra cheese and pepperoni..
All Imperial transports use TARDIS technology for their troop compartments. Its how they fit 10 marines inside a Rhino
Too right! 11 marines in a rhino and 0 Primaris in a Spartan
Lol! Finally something that makes sense! 👍

What do you mean 2
I really dig the look of this kit, i wonder how difficult it would be to chaosify
It would depend on which legion you doing it for, at the very least you would have to remove all the Imperial symbols.

Honestly, the way you've built the Proteus Explorator is great. Will be stealing that idea when I do my own.
Is it any different? Curious.

@SmokeTinyTom sorry, I mean is the way he's built it any different?

the up close and personal view of a moving Land Raider Proteus Carrier at 15:40 is a sight to behold! :)
Love your videos, I base all of my warhammer purchases off your reviews. Have a sicaran coming in today!
Thank you for your kind words. Glad to hear my vids help. Enjoy the Sicaran
They probably just wiggle out the front hatch doing the worm dance.

The spartan is the largest and the proteus is the smallest

I really like the old school look on that land raider Proteus! But are there any restrictions if I were to want to use it in the 40K scenario?
Когда-нибудь я тоже куплю себе этот красивый танк😊)
Спасибо за обзор)
Gosh putting it up close to the Spartan really makes it look cartoonish like the original lol. Thanks as always for the model comparisons.
1:54 army of darkness? i love that movie!
Meant age of darkness whoops! Was a long recording day haha
All of us who have been playing 40k since the early 90's think these newer tanks are huge lol.

I don't think the vehicles are to scale with the minis. They should all be bigger.

Got two of these for a tenner back in the day...
Back in the day being over 20 years ago? Nice, probably worth a bit by now, at least £70 each if you still have em

I think vehicles and infantry are not exactly the same scale
dang, proteus is $150 AUD where as the basic landraider is $115 and crusader/redeemer is $130
That is really really weird. Over here the proteus is a fair bit cheaper than the standard much older land raiders
Why is it every uk guy always says HELLLO THERE like no
Dreadnought with 4 laser cannons is a trash cause it's not possible to use them, it doesn't have proper power sourse.
😂 but a squad of 10 on foot with the same ‘laser cannons’ do? Sci-fi universe buddy
