    As someone renting a little room in a big city, I've come to cherish my little toaster oven lol I find I can make almost everything I want & it's much healthier than living off of microwave dishes. I figured I could cook eggs in there but this video was the proof I needed, thank you! I'm thinking of cooking them in a little omelette style with all the ingredients combined in the tin :)

    First try and mine came out perfect. I spread 2 tablespoons cooking oil in a metal bowl, Added the eggs. I went for 3 minute intervals. Twice. 450 degrees. The yolks were runny, the whites were completely cooked. Delicious. Thank you so much.

    Okay, this is perfect for me. I was thinking of getting myself a toaster oven for Christmas. I love fried eggs. I live in an RV, and I'm not using the propane stovetop. Instead, I use an electric skillet to do something like fry eggs, but that's a big hassle to clean. The eggs are relatively small and don't need something that big. And it turns out, as soon as I saw that little loaf pan, I realized that somebody gave me a bag of gifts, and there was a little loaf pan exactly like that, and I had seen it and thought, 'Huh, I don't know what I'll ever use this for.' Well, now I know what I could use it for.

    • @CookingLessonsforDad
      @CookingLessonsforDad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is not a heat setting. You set the toaster oven to the "toast" setting (it is probably already on that setting). You "toast" it as many times as it takes to cook the eggs to your desired doneness. For my oven I just push the toast button a few times. You can make the toast setting hotter (darker toast setting) and then you will need to push it less times. But don't forget to put it back to how it was so you don't burn your toast the next time you want to make toast. I hope my explanation helps.

    It’s hard to see for sure, but the loaf pan looks like it has a non-stick surface (ie teflon). If that’s the type you use, NEVER use metal utensils to place,stir, or extract food!!
    It will scratch the surface coating, which not only exposes the metal, for things to stick to. The coating will eventually start peeling/breaking off & cook into the food. This may/may not cause very serious health risks, depending on the coating

      I've cooked so many dishes in my toaster oven. Meatloaf, chicken, enchiladas, potatoes (diced up and seasoned) jalapeno poppers, hot sandwiches are delicious, cornbread, it roasts vegetables well, just so many things I've cooked in it, I can't remember them all but I'm getting my money's worth out of it.
      Something else that I really can't live without anymore is an Instant Pot. To me, its worth it just to be able to make dry beans so easily. They are delicious and someone would think you had been cooking them all day. It's so easy too, just dump your beans in, add water and seasonings, hit the button and let it go :)
      I have found so many good recipes here on youtube and websites. People share their family recipes and I don't think I'll ever have to buy another cookbook! So many good tips, like yours and others...A couple of days ago, I wanted to find a way to ripen Mangoes and found so many tips, also found such a easy way to peel them that they're going to be a regular part of my diet now haha!

    • @CookingLessonsforDad
      @CookingLessonsforDad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I know! I love egg muffins. Really you have to test the time with your toaster oven. I have 2 toaster ovens and the times are totally different. You push down the toaster a few times and it also depends on how cooked you like your eggs. Maybe on a day you aren't in a hurry you could make them and keep an eye on them and record how long it takes in your oven. When I make a egg muffin, I get the eggs started cooking first and then afer a few minutes put in the muffin since it cooks faster. Let me know how long yours takes and how it turned out. I think on my good toaster oven my eggs took about 7 minutes (but not sure).

      As far as I know the toast setting on a toaster oven doesn’t have a temperature setting. Mine has a darkness setting or how many slices of toast. I recommend using the setting you make your toast with and then repeat the toast cycle as many times you need so the eggs are cooked to your desired doneness. It may take some experimentation the first couple times you make it. I hope your eggs turn out delicious!

  • @rocky7983
    @rocky7983 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great. So how many minutes ?

    • @CookingLessonsforDad
      @CookingLessonsforDad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on your toaster oven, how hot it cooks and how well-done you like your eggs. The first time is a little experimental. You can set your toaster on different levels of darkness for toast. I would start with the setting you normally make toast on. I think you will have to push the toaster down at least 4 times. You can also adjust the toast darkness setting and then you will not need to push it so many times. The problem is if you forget to change the setting back the next time you make toast it may burn. Sorry I don't have a definite answer for you. Once you figure out what works best on your toaster oven, just keep making it the same way every time. I think this is a great way to make eggs, especially when you are busy getting ready in the morning and don't have time to stand at the stove and supervise your eggs. If you try this let me know how it turns out. Have a great day!

      You are using the toaster function that you use when you make toast. You don't set a temperature to make toast. You keep pressing the toaster button over and over until the eggs are done how you like them. I hope that helps.

    • @CookingLessonsforDad
      @CookingLessonsforDad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Press the toaster button a few times until the eggs are cooked to your desired doneness. Your cooking time will depend on what your toaster oven is set on (the amount of darkness) for toasting bread. You use the toaster setting, not the bake setting. Toaster ovens are different so you will have to experiment the first couple times you cook these eggs. You can use whatever type of eggs you like. Smaller ones will cook faster and larger ones will take longer.

      There is not an exact time and temperature. It depends on your toaster oven setting for toast. You are pushing the toast button down as many times as it takes to cook your eggs to your desired doneness. You can also adjust the darkness setting and that will influence the number of times you push down the toaster button. The first time you make it is really an experiment to see how many times you need to push the toaster button on your toaster oven. Once you figure that out you can do it the same way in the future. I hope that makes sense.

    Not very helpful with time and temperature

    • @CookingLessonsforDad
      @CookingLessonsforDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know. I am sorry. I can’t give a time and temperature that will work for everyone’s toaster oven. The toaster settings vary quite a bit. You have to find out how many times you need to push the toaster button to have the eggs cooked to your desired doneness. Every toaster setting and heat levels are different.
