Indeed! I was told for his final performances at Radio City Music Hall he had oxygen tanks back stage so he could continue on. He gave of himself tirelessly. It saddens me greatly when I hear people slander him so, without any real knowledge of the man behind the legend. The world is a better place for Liberace having been in it!
LIberace was once asked how he'd like to be remembered, and he answered, "...as a kind and gentle soul, who had made the world a better place to live, because I had lived in it." MISSION ACCOMPLISHED LEE!
Not even a CLOSE second to the man's skill, technique, ability, talent and fantastic showmanship!! The best of everything,.................all in one person!!!!!!
No matter how many years go by, one cannot oversight the majesty of a great performer. Liberace was the greatest and hasn't been matched yet. He set the standard for pianist.
You might want to check out David Garrett. I do have a strong tendency to follow artists who can do just about anything they want (figure skaters too).
Listening to and watching liberace while in do much pain coping with suddenly loosing my darling husband and coping with the virus all alone at 77 has kept me sane xxxxxxxc
Anna Herrick they have radio shows like this. I listen to NPR and they do this. Try NPRs tiny desk concert series on TH-cam. I’m sure they have tv like this too but I don’t have cable. They still have concerts like this but live streamed or in different forms.
True. Now a days, we get people try to run through an obstacle course that is set in a big pool of water. People running and jumping and bouncing off blow up devices and bouncing off them and landing head first in the water. Really a disgrace.....
I had the high privilege of actually seeing him live back in the70's. Mr Showmanship indeed! He had the audience eating from the palm of his hand. What an amazing talent!
WOW!!!!!! What facility he had at the keyboard! What a command he had of his instrument! Liberace's technique was so free! I am in awe of him! a billion stars!!!!!!! ******** Such a musician and showman!!!!!!!!!
The title of Liberace's autobiography says it all. People laughed at him, and he succeeded all the way to the top in spite of his detractors. The book title? "I cried all the way to the bank"!
To be able to focus on the music.. and keeping an eye on everything around him, ensuring the overall production.. and then have presence of mind to look down at the camera through the open piano top for a smile and a wink .. Amazing.. This guy WAS the music.
He was a genius a natural ...a kind and loving soul...and a romantic...brilliant just wonderful...come back come back ...we need you in this world more than ever...much more than ever...
Ah - yes! That would be a true thing to say. His generosity of spirit knew no bounds. His family and friends shared with me the most heartwarming stories about his kindness to others. It showed in everything he did. How wonderful to meet you here and share such a memory with you. God bless and all the joys of the season to you also!
The only artist I know of that actually shows that he really enjoys playing the piano. Just by the way he really puts himself into the tunes. And when he plays the music flows from his hands onto the keyboard producing excellent music.
Liberace was one of the worlds best, musicans, past or present ,this video proves that point with out a doubt. What a great performance by a master show man.Take care ADonovan43
This man is profoundly talented beyond comprehension. At one point he glances up to the camera and lends a wink. When I was younger I didn't appreciate his talents. But now, thank goodness for youtube I get to see what I missed out on.
I know this is gonna sound like a strange comparison but watching this reminded me of the legendary linebacker for the New York Giants, Lawrence Taylor, who said at his hall of fame acceptance speech ... "Say what you want about me off the field but ON THE FIELD I'm the best G-d D-mn Linebacker who ever played this Game!" Liberace was the Greatest Performer who ever played his game! :)
I was just thinking that I would have liked to see Liberace & Roy Clark team up to play " Malaguena ".I'm sure they would have produced something epic.
Yes he was th best entertainer ever but still radio stations and t.v ban him and they will not sell his c.ds or d.v.ds in shops all because of the scandal when he died Scott thorsons exaggerated lies have ruined his reputation. I.e Scott Thorson now serving life sentence in prison for attemted murder larceny. Drug trafficking grievous bodily harm he is now saying he had five year affair with Michael Jackson can t somebody shut this man up for good
I'm so glad Liberace was Gay! No straight guy could have ever pulled off this type of performance, despite the sour critics, let alone his ability to put himself in a "compromising" position and enjoy it so thourghly. Bravo!
Such brilliant playing. Liberace broke piano fingering rules that angered the jealous critics of the time. And what became of those jealous critics? They died in obscurity, I'll bet, their names erased, like dust.
There is nothing I could add to all the preceding comments about the wonder of Liberaci except to state that I endorse them all and bring them up to date lest he be forgotten. And a big thank you to the Uploader.
There is little I could add to all the preceding comments about the genius of Liberaci except to state that I endorse them all and bring them up to date lest they be forgotten. And a big thank you to the Uploader.
Liberace LOVED music and PLAYED music with LOVE. NOTHING like the boring singers, rappers, so called "artists" of today. They are SO dull in comparison to this enormous talent. No Beyonce, Taylor Swift or Justin Beiber can hold a match to him. They are 8th rate music makers compared to him. HE was a musician: they are not musicians but people who TRY to be musicians.
Liberace was a very talented and passionate musician. However, that doesn’t mean musicians like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, ect. Aren’t talented musicians who aren’t passionate in what they do. Anyone who truly appreciates and loves music realizes that all music is art. Opinion shouldn’t get in the way of that. I could’ve worded that a lot better but struggle to at the moment.
I thought it was my age that General pop music is a drag. They mess with the volume and everything else. You don’t have to be able to sing or read music. It’s really sad. The younger people are missing out. My parents restricted our music. Outside the house I would sneak it. Liberace was allowed. Had they know he wasn’t straight, I would have never heard him. Check out David Garrett’s music. He’s another master.
I've heard of Liberace when I was in Middle School during the mid 1980's . I've seen a picture of Liberace and Elvis when they were both out in Las Vegas, that was a Kodak Moment 👍..
I saw Librace in '68 at the Latin Casino in NJ -he was incredible! wore a different jacket with each song and for the finale his jacket LIT UP the room (all floor lights off)
His hands are amazing, flying over the keyboard and always landing in the right place. And at times his whole body is bouncing with joy. I'm so glad I am able to watch this.
The sad passing of Liberaci left a huge void in the world of music. He was sensational and is unforgettable. This fabulous arrangement and accompaniment to his rendition of three great numbers befits our memories of his genius.
Siempre desde niño oí hablar de LIBERACE, qué razón tenían, de que era un brillante pianista. Brillante es poco............creo que es el más grande pianista del siglo XX.
Wouldn't it be great, if you could "earn" a PASS, on dying, based on how much you're LOVED ? This is one guy who would still be around, if that was possible.
¡¡¡ Bravo, Maestro Liberace !!! Saludos.
What a showman he was so sad he was gay but I still loved him Liberace you have that much talent and you can play with such passion you were truly amazing love you always TADEUSZ SLECZKA
@MassielMaite My thoughts exactly. I was thinking the same thing moments ago. He has got more talent in his left finger than most so called "stars" today. I forgot about this "star" until I saw him on PBS tonight.
I also would not like to see this deleted in fact hopefully more to be included if possible forget the t.v. Keep up the good work! This is an amazing facility thanks again chaps.
@dj20051991 The piano lid is made of plexiglass. Liberace came up with the idea for thesee-thru lid during his 1950's TV series so the TV cameras would have an unobstuctive view.

I agree. Liberace was a great talent and showman and gave audiences such happiness. I was privileged to see one of his concerts in person.
Not even a CLOSE second to the man's skill, technique, ability, talent and fantastic showmanship!! The best of everything,.................all in one person!!!!!!

Not Only the greatest showman that ever lived , but a superb musician..thank God for Liberace
All of that is ultimately irrelevant, if. One can only hope that 'Liberace' made his peace with God before passing, and atoned for his "lifestyle".
I watched him when i was a child. The older I get the more I realize some people just have it! Entertainer Extraordinaire!!
Ditto.
@@clutchpedalreturnsprg7710 XP What a genius.
You might want to check out David Garrett. I do have a strong tendency to follow artists who can do just about anything they want (figure skaters too).
There just wasn't anything this man couldn't play to PERFECTION!! Such a GIFT!
He worked very hard to get that way since he was very little
The piano speaks and calls out its heart and soul when he plays.

Exactly!!
@@olivelane7903 Hope you are well, and very sorry for your loss. 😔
The networks would never fill 8 minutes of airtime with something of this high caliber these days. Shame.
Yes society today seems to want to trash anything good and meaningful! It is a shame! But Liberace will live on to continue to inspire others to play!

There will never be anyone like him again. He sure fit the name of Mr. Showmanship.

No one today is ever so good. No one! The late Liberace is the world's best pianist and the greatest performing showman ever and still is today!
Thank you Lee for all of the musical inspiration. You are the greatest.
I am so sorry I was not able to see him in person. They don't make entertainers like this anymore!!!!He was a class act.
