I just love his minimalist set up. I've been drumming on a 3 piece the past 5 years now and never wanted to add back my rack tom. Playing with only a floor Tom really forces you to think differently on how to approach your drum beats. I just like the simplicity of minimalist kits. Its all about the snare and bass drum relationship. But having that floor Tom changes the dynamic really well. Keep on drumming 🥁✌️🌎
I went from a 4pc to a 5pc to a 6pc to a 7pc to an 8pc to a 9pc then back to a 6pc then down to a 4pc with a double kick pedal. My cymbal setup started at 3, went up to 13/14, came back to 5(hihat is 1 cymbal in these examples). Having all the stuff allowed me the tonal diff to express myself in my instrument. When I started downsizing my kit I learned how to do the same thing with improved technique. I still had a big drumset but I learned how to use the dynamics of a simpler kit to illustrate the picture I wanted.
IN 20-21 CENTURY WE'VE GOT A LOT OF CASES, WHEN VERY POPULAR AND TALENTED MUSICIANS, BUT WITHOUT A REAL MUSICAL EDUCATION, DIED YOUNG FROM ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SUICIDE. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS PHENOMENE?
@Alex Minin I think we they first start off playing gigs it's all about the music and then if they get a deal and become a Hollywood rock start their mindset starts to change and it's not what they thought it would be. So maybe those hard drugs are there way to cope with the new life they have. Fame and money don't equal happiness. Just my own 2 cents. 🥁✌️

Watching Estepario make his own choices over Joey's composition is awesome. It gives some perspective to how Joey writes the drumming in little riffs just like the guitarists. Joey put a different spin on each verse, plus the iconic intro. I had no idea when this CD came out just how timeless the compositions would become. This CD ages like fine wine while modern metal can't get out of the ditch.

How you play that part in the beginning is just amazing. Most people who play that song don’t do it and starts to play after that „drum and bass“ thing. ( I don’t know how to call that )

That’s what I always thought, it’s not the drum part, just a sample, so I didn’t play it and never saw someone doing it but it sounds cool.

When I first heard this song in 1999, I didn’t think it was possible to fit anymore notes into it than did Joey Jordison. Then I saw this video.

really i dont think it dose this for the song.... its almost like he tried too add elements too a song that really didnt need it. dont get me wrong very talented drummer but this cover sounds like a mess instead of flowing too me. as music is subjective.

Before Joey Jordison passed away i believe he is one of the all time best drummers in that type of music and Travis Barker from Blink 182 is top 5 also

Slipknot... none of their proceeding albums compared to their first. the second one was close, but by their third album you could hear the commercialism creeping in. I was wowed when I heard there first album, disappointed by the third. Spirits were not lifted until 2003 when I found Decapitated, their album Negation. No band had blown me away like them. from the first song: The Fury, to the last: Lunatic of God's Creation. Cattle Decap was next in 2018 with their song: Prophets of Loss... again, blown away... for sheer art and pleasure Deftones, Opeth, Tool, Meshuggah, and so many more who were not commercialized and continue not to disappoint.

I have to tell you I played (keys, bass) all day yesterday after being released for a stint in hospital (no big deal now...antibiotics...age...clumsy Spooky) then went out for a gig really close to my heart. I admit I could barely walk (as well as my buddy/driver) at the end of night...I literally crawled to bed(no street drugs/1 beer/fortunate to have a nice bed to crawl to considering humanity in general) I always say no nutrition?no coffee? ADRENALINE that'll do it ... everytime .... Your video got me to the fridge for H2O you beat adrenaline not through fright, commands, demands, but through SHARING. THANK YOU, die hard music friend to the same. Just sayin'
