Hey! It's that OS I work on! I just wanted to let you know I'm working on a ton of different methods to use the iGPU to render gamescope to allow the user to use the Nvidia card to play games. I don't have all the hardware to do proper testing myself, but with the help of the community I was able to confirm that if you have a ryzen CPU that has an iGPU that it DOES work amazingly well.

I tried ChimeraOS on a 7700x + RTX 4090 machine, and indeed encountered artifacts when I plugged my monitor to the 4090 directly. Whenever I set the screen resolution to 4k, there's just insane artifacts when any game mode UI or 3rd party launcher is on screen.
However if I plug the monitor into the motherboard HDMI port, everything just works fine and there's no artifact. I can even get the performance overlay. I can confirm that the system was rendering with the 4090 too, since there's no way the 7700x iGPU can handle AAA games like Elden Ring or Cyberpunk 2077 at 4k. Shadow of the Tomb Raider's launcher also provides a selector where you can specify which graphics device you want to use for rendering and the default for my setup was the 4090.
There is a problem with this workaround though. I can't seem to get games to run above 60fps in game mode. I've disabled gamescope's framerate limiter, and have set the screen to 4k 120hz in setting. Both steam's overlay and cyberpunk's benchmark counter report the game's capped at 60. While in desktop mode I can get ~90fps at same graphics settings.
Anyway using an nvidia card in this OS is just pointless. The only reason I did it was I didn't have an AMD card. With Nvidia you get all the shortcomings and non of the benefits. Nvidia specific features like RTX, reflex and DLSS are all unusable with proton.

Not just for Steam games, but for Retro consoles. I'm currently using Batocera, but I'm having difficulties with emulator settings.

    I have a box with:
    CPU: Xeon E3 1270 V2
    GPU: Radeon RX 580 8GB 2048SP
    RAM: 16GB
    HDD: 4TB
    MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2H

Is there any way to have it organize video content with meta data? I use Kodi for a home theater PC with games handled by switching to RetroArch. It's a clunky way to do things, and I'm always on the lookout for HTPC software that will boot with a machine and do videos and games through a single interface. My less tech-savvy family just won't get over any kind of significant speed bumps. Also, the cabin has no access to the internet, so anything that it's going to do must be doable offline (it can require internet to set up, download metadata, etc., just not for operation once set up).
