(I'd been thinking about this through the entire video and I had to get it out lol) And he doesn't really even have time to make a decision, like sure he'd been thinking on what the emperor said but once he was actually on the scene it all happened very fast. Then once he did decide he immediately regretted it but at that point, at least in his mind, he didn't have any other option. The jedi couldn't help him save padmé and he'd technically betrayed his best friend and had no reason to believe obi wan would trust or forgive him. At that point the only thing he had going for him was padmé and so he doubled down and tried to convince himself it was all worth it and that it was gonna be okay. Once you're in that mindset it's very hard to turn back, and the only ones who could've convinced him to were nowhere to be found. Anakins fall, while horrible, actually makes a lot of sense.
He was taken into a cult like group who basically turned him into a child soldier. In the TPM he was what like 9 years old podracing to space fighting droidship's above Naboo, then a teenager fighting/ arm cut off, falls in love w/a cougar , loses his mother he loved & the full on Clone Wars + old Palpy's influence...yeah bruv was gonna get ptsd atleast. Its quite impactful when you really think about it.
Little fun fact: Ian McDiarmid(Palpatine) was actually the actor for the Emperor back in Episode VI. They had a bunch of makeup & prosthetics to make him look so old, but when the prequels came about he was naturally the age Palpatine was at that point.
I really hope this was a joke to try to get likes. Palpatine was played by the late Marjorie Eaton. She was later replaced by cgi Ian McDiarmid in special editions after the prequel trilogy. Clive Revill was his voice.
@@nemostreamed for his hologram appearance in Empire, yes. But when they needed someone to fill the role in RotJ in 83, they got McDiarmid. Eaton was only ever in Empire.
Revenge Of The Sith is my absolute favorite out of the prequels. The double climactic lightsaber duel that takes place toward the end of the movie, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader VS Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar and Yoda VS Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant in the Senate chamber are top-notch across the board. Musical score, fight choreography, visual effects, audio effects and emotional impact. I give them all an A+.
If you look at the way anakin and obi-wan were fighting, you can see how they have the same movements due to how often they've trained together from the moment they did that routine of swinging their blades without them touching each other cause they both predicted what the other would do leaving them in a sort of stalemate for a moment.
"Vader was SEDUCED by the dark side of the force"- Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke. More specifically, duped and deceived by the Emperor. He put those dreams in Anakin's mind. Pure evil, like the devil 😈 😢
Clone Wars is def worth the watch, even if off camera. It helps further explain Anakin’s divide with the Jedi. It’s tragic. The Jedi’s initial rejection and mistrust of Ani from childhood is exactly what drove him into Palpatine’s arms to be manipulated and turned against them in the first place. Sad to watch but Palpatine’s chess moves were impeccable. Cheers!
@@Spider-Man647 Jedi was mostly wrong. Obi-Wan was too bounded by the rules and the council. The others were so focused on the old ways (discarding feelings). The only capable one of helping ani that wasn't qui-gon was mace but didn't like him nor trust him. Not to mention they all kept pushing him away. Ani's only problem was him being gullible about padme and his need for power as well as his scarred past.
25:14 what’s sad is that she knew they lifted their guns and she was looking ahead of herself to see who they were aiming at and she didn’t know it was at her
Whats sad is if you pay attention to Aayla Secura's death, the twi'lek on the jungle planet who gets shot in the back, she trusted her clones so much that when they readied their guns she looked around thinking there was another threat. She never considered they would be aiming at her.
4:30 I will never get over how much betrayal is on Christopher Lee's face after Palpatine/Sidious tells Anakin to kill Dooku. Then the look he gives of accepted death right before Anakin slices his head off, not revealing the huge secret right before being killed by an order given by your so called "friend". Such an amazing actor, one of the few that was actually trained in sword fighting (fencing I'm pretty sure). Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus is such an interesting character, RIP Christopher Lee 🙏🕊️☁️
In the original script Lucas had Dooku pleading for his life, which Christopher rightfully pointed out was completely out of character for such a noble and egotistical man. George Lucas has good overall world-building skills but his dialogue choices in a lot of scenes are questionable at best, and he has to be reined in by his wife lol
The scene when Obi and Anakin just swings their swords without touching them is actualy realy well made, cause if consider it, they knew each other for years and trained together so both of them know fightning style of the other, this wasn´t just swinging, it was waiting for mistake from one of them.
I remember there's a documentary for "the making of Revenge of the Sith". In it the lead cinematographer or director said the final script for the last scenes released on time, but when he saw the duel between Anakin and Obi-wan. All the script said was "They fight - 15 minutes." Man went on to create the most memorable duel in all of Star Wars, and even tried to reason all the move sets each character displays like @Darthorias mentioned.
Don, when the Jedi keep saying you have to "let someone go" it's not to feel less attached but accept that your time with them is finite. Think of it like this: if you know your loved one will be gone no matter what you do, you'll make the most of every moment with them. Mourning them afterward is natural. However NOT letting go is worse! Not accepting the reality of things leads to anger. Know what I mean?
Exactly! Also, eliminating the fear of loss = emotional maturity, or enlightenment. It is natural, true, but living in fear does you no favours, jedi or not. Well, worse for a jedi, who whole existence is tied to being dispassionate and impartial.
Devil’s advocate point here: They didn’t even want him trained for literally this exact reason. So to them its weird that this is even an issue so I can see how they underestimated how scared he really was about this. I doubt its the first time he ever heard of an “attachment is bad” lesson. So he should have known what the head of his order would say about this lol
Yoda said mourn them do not, miss them do not. The point is the Jedi in that time were wrong and become to legalistic and that’s why they fell and anakin turned to the darkside. It wasn’t until Luke came and rejected the old ways like he did in empire and then eventually at least was supposed make a better Jedi order
Being a Jedi master also requires strength in mind, control in emotions; wisdom, spirituality etc. Not just Anakin being strong in force or saber skills.
Yea, I get why they didn't make him a master. Windu knew he was conflicted. If Anakin didn't chose the dark side, they would have probably made him a master since he showed emotional maturity turning in his close friend.
yeah, you don't actually need to be strong at all to be a master. Most of them are way weaker than attack of the clones padawan anakin, as the power component of the trials doesn't seem too difficult but anakin was always held back by his mentality. Once you passed the trials there doesnt seem to be a strength requirement to be a master, just more wisdom and training another jedi. Which just equates to being old for many of the masters.
Hahahaha Jedi were fucking pos. Mace was a piece of shit dickhead who bullied kids, too many of them didn’t follow the order to its exact but thought they did.
So the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan is actually their normal fighting speed, that's how good they became on set. Also, a popular fan theory is that Padme didn't lose the will to live, but Palpatine drained her life force to sustain Vader
@@MaxRamos8It's not to say she didn't, it's only a theory. To her it could be a will to live, but in actuality it's Palpatine is what it's saying pretty much.
I heard somewhere that they actually had to tell Ewan and Hayden to slow down with their duel on set because they were too fast, if that's true then their fight in the movie is actually slower than irl.
@@nezarecdiscipleofthewitnes3823 I know exactly the thing you're talking about but I think that was actually for the duel in episode 1 against maul with obi wan. Understandably though, a lot of people tend to get it mixed up with the episode 3 duel cause there's a similar fun fact for the ep 3 duel, which is that there's no effects used to speed the footage up so the choreography you see on screen was performed at real speed by Ewan and Hayden. Still impressive as hell either way though!
Bro I feel you. This broke me as well 😭 This movie was a tragic masterpiece. Though it’s a little bit difficult to understand, he didn’t exactly do it for her, he did it for himself. His attachments lead to greed and selfishness.
@LowkeyEditss Then you did not understand it. Why do you believe did he not decide to follow Padme at the end? Anakin couldn’t stand the thought of not having control when he has all this power. It is difficult to understand, so let me explain it to you like that: A Jedi is trained to let go of anything that they have no control over. It’s pointless to get scared or angry over something you can’t do anything about. After the death of his mother, Anakin’s solution to this is: ‘Then I’ll just control everything. I’ll become the most powerful Jedi ever. That way, I’ll never have to be afraid of letting people go.’ Which is just unhealthy. A Jedi doesn’t seek power. A Jedi is selfless. At first Anakin’s driving force to save Padme was solely out of love, but after the massacre it shifted to greed. Not only would he not lose Padmé, not only was he already thinking of killing Palpatine despite not knowing how to save Padmé, but when Padmé sees who Anakin had become and starts to back away from him we immediately see him threaten her. For one he completely dismisses what Padmé is telling him, and the way he speaks about not letting happening to her what had happened to his mother was no longer about concerned about Padmé but his own pride. To him all the deaths he caused had a purpose and meaning, and that meaning to him was that he was becoming powerful enough to not fail again. Not to protect or save anyone, but because his over inflated ego told him he was getting all that he deserved. And no one would stand in his way. Not even Padmé. His love for Padmé was turned into possession, where he refused to lose her because she was his. Anakin was truly selfish. His only concern was what HE wanted.
@LowkeyEditss This is literally not how it was lol. His own ambitions was to not lose Padme, he was no slave to Palpatine. He was momentarily dependent to Palpatine, but Palpatine didn’t even had the power, but only knew it would be achieved through the dark side. Palpatine opened him an opportunity to save Padme, but Anakin literally decided to overthrow Palpatine afterwards when he thought he had enough power. Why would you think did he want to do that? I don’t say there was no love, but it has been overshadowed by greed. He went to the dark side to save her, and the dark side meddled with Anakin’s mind. Padme understood that in that blazing moment. Anakin had changed. Your refuse of my comment was therefore unjustified
@LowkeyEditss while i'm sure anakin cared for padme and obi wan to an extent, he was definitely doing it for himself. it's kind of hard to explain if you've never experienced selfish love in a relationship but he was attached and infatuated with her and as long as he's around her he's happy, so his actions were in his own interest and not necessarily hers. it didn't really matter how she felt about the whole thing as long as he was with her, which is exactly why he chokes her and tosses her aside. just to immediately be concerned about her again at the end. he doesn't care about HER, he cares about how HE feels in that relationship.
@SunVfxx he ultimately did it for the power. Palpatine had been chirping in his ear for years about how powerful Anakin was and how he was stronger than any jedi.
To me, I imagine people calling and training me coz I’m “the chosen one”. Yet they don’t trust me. They restrict me. And they put me on a leash. The clone wars started slow but picked up quite nicely. Maybe the Jedi order wasn’t in the right state to begin with. They’re supposed to be loyal to the force but they’re only loyal to the politics of the republic.
@@chaoticboy626 they... don't do any of that to anakin specifically (re: restricting, putting on a leash)? they just asked anakin to follow literally all the same rules that all the other jedi have to follow, which are there for a reason. which he didn't. the code was all going fine for them for thousands of years, and anyone who didn't want to be a jedi could literally just... leave. lol. re: politics and the republic, sidious literally engineered that: put peacekeepers in a conflict where they have to go to war to save lives, otherwise many more lives will be lost. and they couldn't interfere in the senate or with politics because it's literally not their place. they didn't really have a choice.
@@Delirium24 Well the Jedi’s were wrong tho. The whole system was. Anakin already had suffered a lot and still managed to be an excellent Jedi but when the nightmares first started he was completely lost, he didn’t want the suffering to continue so he tried to get powerful enough to save Padme’s life but Palpatine completely destroyed Anakin’s spirit making him his pawn and turning him.
Palpatine knew everything about Darth Plageuis the Wise during that scene with Anakin because he was his apprentice and was the one who killed him in his sleep.
I know in a book they said that Palpatine literally killed Plagueis the night Palps was elected Supreme Chancellor during Phantom Menace, but that could be Legends now
I remember watching this when it was in theaters. The pain of watching Ani fall to the dark side was so intense I cried. It hurt so bad, even knowing he turned into Darth Vader.
This trilogy is very underrated. Underneath some of the questionable writing and dialogue choices is an awesome story and sad tragedy. By the way Obi-wan was probably the best person to face General Grevious. Kenobi's fighting style is form 3 (soresu) the defensive form of lightsaber combat. He essentially became the best master of the form in the jedi order and if you master it to the degree he did you essentially become an unbreakable wall in a duel. That's why he held up so well against Grevious and Anakin's relentless assaults. Keep defending for as long as possible to wait for an opening and/or for the enemy to tire out. Plus he was the jedi master that faced Grevious the most as well so there was no better choice. Now the form does have a weakness. It's the lightsaber form that Dooku had mastered. The perfect precision of that form is a hard counter to form 3. So Kenobi would never be able to defeat Dooku by himself. There's something you should know about the darkside as well. If your anger and hatred is strong enough in the dark side then you will be able to survive seriously gruesome injuries. The reason for this is because the dark side will refuse to let the user to die and that's easier for the individuals with massive darkness. There wan one ancient sith lord from the old republic games that was essentially a walking talking charred corpse. And no matter what damage he took he wouldn't die. Anakin was in a similar position as that guy. Being in horrible agony as a half dead toasty carcass but being unable to die because his hatred is just that deep. And he never stopped feeling that pain and agony as Vader. Another thing. Do you remember how R2 never stayed with the ship when Luke told him to in the original trilogy? That's because when Anakin told R2 to stay with the ship he never returned. You can't find a droid that's better than R2. Now you should watch the clone wars because it shows you the events in between episode 2 and 3. And it makes the events of episode 2 and 3 make a lot more sense. I reccomend you watch it before the kenobi show as well as the other live action shows.
I love love love Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Perfect casting, and if you go on to watch Ahsoka and Kenobi, I think you'll enjoy his cameos. He's so underrated, and this role destroyed his career for over twenty years. It's nice to finally see him start to see how adored he is by his fans. Social media wasn't so much a thing back then, so he had no idea beyond the reviews of Siskel & Ebert how the audience viewed his performance. I'd recommend watching TCW--it fleshes out his development, and his fall, so much.
By the way in the story of darth Plagueis the wise his apprentice who killed him WAS the chancellor/the emperor Edit: also if it makes you feel better some of the younglings survived like Kanan Jarrus.
The reason the jedi order does not favour relationships is precisely to stop the loss of a loved one turning into anger, pain and to the dark side, which ultimately lead to Anakin's fall. This is such a power story, so beautifully acted by everyone. I love it.
When you fully embrace the dark side your eyes turn yellow, the reason Dooku’s eyes weren’t yellow is because he didn’t fully embrace the dark side EDIT: also when Palpatine shot lightning at Yoda he tried to block it but Palpatine’s power was too strong for Yoda to handle
Yeah, I guess the yellow eyes thing isn't always permanent. Maybe it comes and goes depending how much of the dark side of the force you're using. I don't think Anakin's eyes were yellow at the end of RotJ.
This will always be my favorite Star Wars movie. Being able to see the last puzzle pieces of the plan come together to see how the little slave boy from Tatooine in episode 1 saves his son from the Emperor in episode 6 is perfect.
"now he looks like his master: clapped" kinda got me ngl also: sidious didnt lie when he said that anakin killed her because he was literally the reason she stopped living.
This is my favorite movie because it shows what Anakin is having to deal with, the chancellor is basically grooming him while still being a trusted mentor. On the other hand, the Jedi start using underhanded tactics like having Anakin spy on Palpatine while also telling him to "let go of everything he fears to lose" this comes from a place of trying to help, but the temple never helped free his mom and thus leading Anakin to ignore these words and trust Palpatine over the Jedi due to their inability to see their own hypocrisies. Also, the tragedy of Darth Plagues the Wise was a story about how Palpatine killed his own master to gain more power and slowly take over the republic from the inside without anyone ever knowing it was him. I keep editing this because I keep seeing the details that I love about this movie, like how Anakin stays in the shadows throughout the whole movie, giving the viewer a sense of his fall into darkness without telling them this can be seen at 10:20 and 15:50 . Also with the context of the clone wars TV show the betrayal Anakin must feel when the Order tells him they won't let him become a Master further driving a wedge between their relationship, this also gave Palpatine enough leeway to know Anakin wouldn't kill him if he revealed his secret and thus through everyone lying and not trusting him enough. Anakin becomes the very thing he sought to destroy and becomes Darth Vader.
Jedi worked as peacekeepers and mostly for the Republic due to their history with the Civil War as Ambassador's, how the Phantom Menace started. They went from monks to a super police making judgments not on fact, but from what they observe. (Ex. The death of the Journeymen/The Slaughter of Grievous' Species/ and most importantly Dooku's defection from the order.)
As a huge Star Wars fan, I remember clearly how I felt in the theater the day it was released. The hype waiting in the queue. The cold feeling when Vader breathed for the first time. And also just before the movie, I remember a man trying to explain all Star Wars to his girlfriend during the commercials and trailers. Remember you, hero.
Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".
Watching the clones turn on the Jedi as many times as I have, it still hurts every time. Plo Koon, my favorite, went out like a chump getting ambushed while flying, knowing that Aayla Secura goes out so quickly on Felucia (the really vibrant plant world) because her clones trusted and loved her and didn’t want her to suffer (it’s implied that Commander Bly actually had feelings for her). I will say watching how cold Yoda was in dispatching Commander Gree is just *chefs kiss*
Yea, Aayla's one hurt a lot for me. Plo Koon as well cause he was so cool, didn't someone state in an he would have survived if he wasn't in airborne in the vehicle? So tragic
Years ago, I had read some Star Wars lore that said the Sith use red lightsabers because the crystals inside them that provide the blade are synthetic. The Jedi use naturally found organic crystals that they find in mines, which create a blue or green blade. (That doesn't explain why Mace Windu had a purple lightsaber, the IRL reason is that Sam Jackson wanted a unique color so he could spot himself in big lightsaber battles.) But since the Jedi protect those crystal mines, the Sith can't get ahold of any organic crystals for their own lightsabers, so they have to make synthetic crystals. For that reason, red lightsabers became a defining characteristic of Sith lords. Star Wars lore has changed over time, most recently when Disney bought the IP. So I don't know if that's still the canon.
The new explanation (I'm loath to call it "canon") is that Sith use the dark side to corrupt their crystals in a process called "bleeding". Personally I prefer the old lore on that subject.
Another reason given for the red sabers is that the Sith use the Force to essentially bend the kyber crystal to their will, which causes the nature of the crystal to change. Mace's saber was purple because his philosophy ran very close to the dark side, it is why he is one of the coldest of the Jedi and why he was able to go toe-to-toe with Sidius when the others were cut down in short order.
@@Leekle2ManE I believe, originally and in universe, the reason Mace's saber was uniquely purple is just that the kyber crystal he used is exceptionally rare. This rare find just reflects the rare talent he possesses as a master along with his controversial use of the Vaapad style. Basically, he's just special.
@@d.b.4671 I 100% agree. I liked the original canon that way each color has a kind of extra lore attached, like the yellow sabers of the Jedi Temple Guards, I believe, receive an already made saber upon being appointed.
@Leekle2ManE blue + red makes purple. Either through a crystal bleeding or the use of his vaapad technique, I like to think his original blue crystal was shifted one step towards the darkside. Much like Maces character.
i was i think 8 years old when i first watched this movie it was also the first star wars movie i ever watched i fell in love with it and then the original trilogy became my all time favorite movies, the last few years i realized just how great and emotional this one really is and the end hits everytime
42:18 The dark side of the force is powerful by utilizing your strong emotions. There is another Sith who literally would not die by just harnessing his hate. A theme with the sith is obvious physical deformity starting with the eyes changing but also scars from constant fighting.
Also you know whats crazy? Windu was actually kind of plotting to take over. He says early in the movie "we'll have to seize control of the senate, to ensure a peaceful transition" and Yoda says "to a dark place this could take us" Of all the Jedi, Windu was always kinda the sketchiest
This right here is my personal favorite of all the Star Wars movies! Between the action, the soundtrack and balance of tragedy and hope, I always enjoy watching it. Also, just one thing I want to point out about the Jedi when it comes to emotion and attachments. It's not they can't have them it's that they shouldn't allow them to dictate their actions. Jedi can have friends for example as evidenced by Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship however they should always uphold the greater good as keepers of the peace. Anakin's story is the perfect example of this. Anakin was put in the position of having to choose between potentially saving his wife and unborn child or turning in a dangerous Sith Lord (who also was one of the few people that he thought appreciated him). If Anakin didn't become so attached to Padme (and later marry her) he probably would have turned Palpatine in. But his attachments dictated his actions and put him on the path to the Dark Side. Now, of course there are other factors like Anakin's mistrust of the council, his arrogance which was fueled by all his victories during the war etc. (a lot of which is explored more in the TV series) but the attachments thing is the main factor he struggled with as a Jedi.
@@harleyhart1497 the special affects are good but idk how well they have held up. The sequel films look good but have a bad story. The prequels have a great story but not the greatest VFX
@@harleyhart1497 More ironic than a paradox. You would think that the first 3 (IV, V, and VI) would have a better story due to the limitations with VFX at the time, and you would think that the prequels would look better and maybe focus less on the story in favor of cool fights and CGI. But it's the opposite which I honestly prefer since I never found the visuals in the prequels to be that bad anyway
now you see why yoda was telling ani to learn to let go of everything he fears to lose. cuz it was the fear of losing padme that ended up hurting her... still hindsight is 20-20 and at the time yodas advice did sound a little crazy lol
If you were curious, General Grievous was originally a human, who's original name was Qymaen jai Sheelal. (Sorry for the long comment below, but trust me, this is the short version of the story). To cut a long story short, he was a commanding officer during the Clone Wars in the final years of the Republic Era. In addition to his position as a general within the Separatist Droid Army, the Kaleesh (Grevious) held the title of Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies throughout the duration of the war, in which he led countless engagements against the Republic's Grand Army. Recognized for his ruthless tactics and extensive cybernetic enhancements, Grievous utilized the Separatist Droid Army and his adept combat skills to instill fear throughout the galaxy as he travelled to and invaded planets, while also engaging numerous Knights of the Jedi Order, his sworn enemies. Grievous' potential was seen by the Sith Lords Darth Sidious and Darth Tyranus, also known as Dooku, the Count of Serenno. Dooku and Sidious, who had significant plans for Grievous, had already been drawn to his exploits while he was working as an enforcer for the InterGalactic Banking Clan. Sometime later, members of the Executive Separatist Council of the newly-formed Confederacy of Independent Systems led by Dooku conspired to mortally wound Grievous in a bid to convert him into a super-cyborg subservient to their cause. Dooku's agents sabotaged Grevious's shuttle, which resulted in a gruesome crash that left the man on the brink of death. Grievous was offered conversion into an enhanced cybernetic being by the Sith, who were interested in experimenting with technologically advanced beings. His remaining vital organs implanted into a powerful robotic body, after the majority of his organic body was destroyed, but over time he gradually started to make considerable improvement to his cybernetic body. The reconstructed Grievous became a skilled lightsaber duelist under Dooku's guidance. Shortly after the advent of the Clone Wars, Grievous was granted the rank of general, as well as the title of Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies, making him one of the most powerful people within the Separatist Alliance, second only to his master Dooku. Grievous wielded his skills as a brilliant military strategist and melee combatant during numerous campaigns against the Republic throughout the Clone Wars while also gaining a reputation for hunting and killing Jedi Knights. He made a habit of claiming the lightsabers of defeated Jedi as trophies and weapons to be used against other opponents. His position and threat level led to his pre-eminence as one of the Republic's primary targets throughout the course of the war. As the war played out, Grievous found a personal nemesis in Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, whom he dueled on numerous occasions. Edit: Grevious was from a species called The Kaleesh.
@@Jumpyman_thegamerYT but to be honest, once you go more deep into the story of Grievous, the more you realize that he is pretty much a more tragic character than Anakin.
Fun fact: palatine didn’t actually know how to stop people from dying, he was yet to learn that off darth plagious before killing him in his sleep. He just said he knew how to do it purely to get anakin on his side
Anakin was blinded by his rage and his use of the dark side. That's why when they're talking to him, it's like they're talking to the wall especially when he thought Padme was cheating on him with Obi-wan. Truely, Obi-wan should've shown himself at a better timing. 😂
Actually in the deleted scenes, there is one where Palpatine puts the idea into Anakin's head that Obi Wan was having a relationship with Padmé, or rather insinuated it. Probably why Anakin assumed Obi Wan was with Padme and that she brought him there to kill him.
Palpetine is the one who implanted the visions using the dark side into Anakin's dreams..that's his whole plan to turn him and it worked...Anakin was far too caring and emotional..he joined the Jedi order at older age then other Jedi younglings and had attachments and trauma already that's his downfall. Also Anakin had the highest midiclorian count of any Jedi or sith in history about 23,500 for instance Yoda had 20,000 per cell...but Yoda or Mace windu had much more years of training and were more experienced than Anakin..and yet because of his connection to the force Anakin was nearly unstoppable. Obi Wan only had about 14,000 per cell midi lorian but he trained so much and also Obi Wan trained Anakin so he knew his moves so he actually was likely the only one who could stand against Anakin...other than maybe the very best at that point..and eventually if Anakin wasn't injured he would have become more powerful and experienced than even palpetine or Yoda or Mace...Palpetine had 22,000 midiclorian count btw so that explains his power in the force and ability to beat Yoda..he also was no slouch in lightsaber combat. Palpetine practiced Juyo the most intense and various form of combat with a saber the constant aggression form. Anakin used Djem so a classic strength attack style form 5...Yoda used form 4 ataru the acrobatic form to make up for his short size...Obi Wan used the all defensive form 3 soresu but supplemented with ataru for attack. That's how Obi wan was able to last long enough against Anakin at that power so high above him..in the end the dark side clouded his mind and Anakin was arrogant and jumped above Obi Wan tried to use one of Obi wan own moves....the one Obi Wan used to kill Darth Maul with a leap and cut across. But Obi knew what Anakin was gonna do which is why he said don't try it..
I've always wondered how things would have played out if Anakin had been able to control his emotions for five minutes and realize how he was being manipulated by Palpatine. Would he have been strong enough to act as a double agent and take Palpatine down? Or would he still have turned due to the Jedi mistreating him?
As a life-long Star Wars fan, and someone that’s seen this movie more times than I can remember, this video made me smile, and remember how it made me feel to some extent when I first seen it nearly 20 years ago. Was great to see a reaction from fresh eyes!
this movie is such a masterpiece the shift in tone is so well done and one of the best star wars movies, im so glad that revenge of the sith is getting the recognition that it deserves now
One thing is that Anakin tried to save padme from death after his mom died from the same visions of the future. But getting visions from the future could mean a lot of things. Yoda said in episode 5 to Luke that the future is always in motion. Padme died just like the vision because Anakin tried to take the future into his own hands. But by doing so he made the dream he kept having about padme come true.
But couldn’t Anakin have saved his mother if Obi Wan had allowed him to save his mother much sooner? Should Anakin have done absolutely nothing to protect Padme and their unborn children? I don’t agree with certain things and views that the Jedi have.
My siblings showed me 1-6 when I was 8 or 9 but the first time I watched these we skipped the 3rd one and they wouldn't tell me why. I didn't watch it for the first time until like 3 or 4 years later just to get the rest of the story and I was like wow...
By the way, the "execute order 66" line was implemented into their code when the clones were made, by palpatine. These clones that Jedi have fought alongside and made relationships with for the years during the clone war just turn on them with a singular command.
The fall of Anakin is interesting. His actions were born of love. But a possessive and selfish love. He never confided in his wife or his friend. And in his quest to spare himself the pain of her loss, he caused her death. Such a good film.
Its so nice to watch someone go through all the emotions I felt for the first time. It doesn't get any easier watching it but at least I know the plot twists that are coming up
In case you missed the subtlety, at the end when Palpatine smiles as Ani (Vader really at this point) screams in agony, is because fear and anger fuels the dark side. Anakin feared the loss of his lvoed ones, and that fear gave rise to anger and hatred as he lost more and more, which eventually makes him a powerful evil agent of the dark side. That, and the corruption of Palpatine twisting his mind and making him want for more power that he'll never actually obtain.
In case you were wondering how the clones were so quick to follow Order 66, even though they were allies and even friends with the Jedi, the answer is simple... "A good soldier follows orders!"
@@mariom1653And in "attack of the clones" the movie. The cloners that made them were very proud of how perfectly obedient and unquestioning their clones are.
theres alot that makes anakin turn to the dark side , it was little by little you'd have to watch the animated show to see a lot of it, it kept chipping away at him. Padme just made it boil over.
If you think this hurt, the Obi Wan show stung too. The show was mid, but the end was good. Without spoilers, Obi sees who Darth Vader is, and it breaks him beyond repair.
42:38 to borrow a quote from another Star Wars character: “Revenge does wonders for the will to live.” The Sith are fueled by emotions, the stronger the emotion they feel, the bigger the power boost. In the old canon, there was a Sith that was so fueled by hate that he literally couldn’t be killed. The only way to beat him was to talk him into giving up and dying.
The reason the emperor lied to Ani about killing his misses is because the sith gain strength through emotion and feelings so an emotion like rage being fueled by regret and sadness is basically like a steroid for sith its not good for em and its slowly killing them but damn them results though.
The eye discoloration is part of whats called Dark Side Degradation. Basically the more immersed you are in it and for longer periods of time will lead to permanent physical alterations. Paler skin, yellow or red eyes, cracked skin, black veins, loss of muscles, etc. If one just dips their toes into the dark side now and again the eyes for example could appear but not stay like during use of force lightning.
You probably want to watch Kenobi next. It has its flaws, but it fills in some gaps in the Skywalker story if you're watching in timeline order. There's also Star Wars Rebels as well, amongst many other shows.
"You loved her. You will always love her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember . . . You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader's blood. You remember the furnace of Vader's fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth-And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself. . . It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith-Because now your self is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself-And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Anakin is a 23 year old new husband/father that has been fighting in a war nonstop for 3 years, dude was going through it
(I'd been thinking about this through the entire video and I had to get it out lol)
And he doesn't really even have time to make a decision, like sure he'd been thinking on what the emperor said but once he was actually on the scene it all happened very fast.

The only capable one of helping ani that wasn't qui-gon was mace but didn't like him nor trust him. Not to mention they all kept pushing him away. Ani's only problem was him being gullible about padme and his need for power as well as his scarred past.

Whats sad is if you pay attention to Aayla Secura's death, the twi'lek on the jungle planet who gets shot in the back, she trusted her clones so much that when they readied their guns she looked around thinking there was another threat. She never considered they would be aiming at her.

I will never get over how much betrayal is on Christopher Lee's face after Palpatine/Sidious tells Anakin to kill Dooku. Then the look he gives of accepted death right before Anakin slices his head off, not revealing the huge secret right before being killed by an order given by your so called "friend". Such an amazing actor, one of the few that was actually trained in sword fighting (fencing I'm pretty sure). Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus is such an interesting character, RIP Christopher Lee 🙏🕊️☁️
so true. you see his face of betrayal and then his curiosity to whether anakin will actually do it
Christopher Lee's skill in fencing is what gave birth to the second form of lightsaber combat, Makashi.

This movie can be summarised with one of Oogway’s quotes:
“One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it…”
The scene when Obi and Anakin just swings their swords without touching them is actualy realy well made, cause if consider it, they knew each other for years and trained together so both of them know fightning style of the other, this wasn´t just swinging, it was waiting for mistake from one of them.
You mean their famous obiani spin?
I remember there's a documentary for "the making of Revenge of the Sith". In it the lead cinematographer or director said the final script for the last scenes released on time, but when he saw the duel between Anakin and Obi-wan. All the script said was "They fight - 15 minutes."
Man went on to create the most memorable duel in all of Star Wars, and even tried to reason all the move sets each character displays like @Darthorias mentioned.
I learned that spin this week lol
Don, when the Jedi keep saying you have to "let someone go" it's not to feel less attached but accept that your time with them is finite. Think of it like this: if you know your loved one will be gone no matter what you do, you'll make the most of every moment with them. Mourning them afterward is natural. However NOT letting go is worse! Not accepting the reality of things leads to anger. Know what I mean?
Eu concordo com essa análise, mas os jedi não tinha tato para explicar isso. Eles diziam isso de uma maneira muito fria.
Luke didn’t make a better order, he failed.
Also, a popular fan theory is that Padme didn't lose the will to live, but Palpatine drained her life force to sustain Vader
it makes sense because otherwise there’s no way he’d know that padme had died

It is difficult to understand, so let me explain it to you like that:
A Jedi is trained to let go of anything that they have no control over. It’s pointless to get scared or angry over something you can’t do anything about. After the death of his mother, Anakin’s solution to this is:
‘Then I’ll just control everything. I’ll become the most powerful Jedi ever. That way, I’ll never have to be afraid of letting people go.’
Which is just unhealthy.
Palpatine/sidious also manipulated him so many times so his mind is clouded and blurry
@LowkeyEditss
while i'm sure anakin cared for padme and obi wan to an extent, he was definitely doing it for himself. it's kind of hard to explain if you've never experienced selfish love in a relationship but he was attached and infatuated with her and as long as he's around her he's happy, so his actions were in his own interest and not necessarily hers. it didn't really matter how she felt about the whole thing as long as he was with her, which is exactly why he chokes her and tosses her aside. just to immediately be concerned about her again at the end. he doesn't care about HER, he cares about how HE feels in that relationship.
@SunVfxx he ultimately did it for the power. Palpatine had been chirping in his ear for years about how powerful Anakin was and how he was stronger than any jedi.
I think you’re exactly right when anakin says the Jedi are evil. He’s trying to justify to himself all the horrible shit he’s done.
I think the character would be much more believable without the killing younglings scene.
Obi-wan hit him with that forbidden technique at the end where you cut off multiple limbs. Anakin probably was not expecting that.
Do people even know what underrated means
I love love love Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Perfect casting, and if you go on to watch Ahsoka and Kenobi, I think you'll enjoy his cameos. He's so underrated, and this role destroyed his career for over twenty years. It's nice to finally see him start to see how adored he is by his fans. Social media wasn't so much a thing back then, so he had no idea beyond the reviews of Siskel & Ebert how the audience viewed his performance. I'd recommend watching TCW--it fleshes out his development, and his fall, so much.

By the way in the story of darth Plagueis the wise his apprentice who killed him WAS the chancellor/the emperor
Edit: also if it makes you feel better some of the younglings survived like Kanan Jarrus.
Supposedly, the big urns next to the entrance to Palpatine's office contain the remains of Darth Plagueis.
The reason the jedi order does not favour relationships is precisely to stop the loss of a loved one turning into anger, pain and to the dark side, which ultimately lead to Anakin's fall. This is such a power story, so beautifully acted by everyone. I love it.
When you fully embrace the dark side your eyes turn yellow, the reason Dooku’s eyes weren’t yellow is because he didn’t fully embrace the dark side

this 1 absolutely hurt to watch, Windu's death, seeing Anakin be turned against Obi-Wan, their fight, so much pain
nah the hurts he fucked cuts every fucked min
The jedi are like monks, like the templars, asian monks, etc; foregoing possessions, attachments; finding enlightenment, being selfless.
in theory...

Hah! Thats sick! I did something like that but it was to my mom and dad, good times.

@@IdkIdk-vm4dm Dave Feloni basically told George that 😂
Years ago, I had read some Star Wars lore that said the Sith use red lightsabers because the crystals inside them that provide the blade are synthetic.
Much like Maces character.

i would recommend you to watch the Clone Wars Series, its is so interesting and well writen im sure you would enjoy it
42:18 The dark side of the force is powerful by utilizing your strong emotions. There is another Sith who literally would not die by just harnessing his hate. A theme with the sith is obvious physical deformity starting with the eyes changing but also scars from constant fighting.
What a way to end the year for you and "start" the year for us!
Also you know whats crazy? Windu was actually kind of plotting to take over. He says early in the movie "we'll have to seize control of the senate, to ensure a peaceful transition" and Yoda says "to a dark place this could take us"
Of all the Jedi, Windu was always kinda the sketchiest
Genuinely my favourite Star Wars movie.
"Jedi don't kill though"... as Anakin beheads Dooku 😂
Was a joy to watch this again with a newcomer's perspective. No cap, man got a like and sub for this vid. Welcome to the fandom bro 👌
I honestly LOVE the original six Star Wars films. My favourites are Episodes One through Three
Same, the prequals will always be my favorite since I grew up with them. Its just such a grand tale, that effects so much in the universe they are in.
@@Iustusxi Exactly! Plus the special effects and CGI in them are so much better than in Episodes 4, 5, and 6
@@harleyhart1497 the special affects are good but idk how well they have held up. The sequel films look good but have a bad story. The prequels have a great story but not the greatest VFX
@@Iustusxi So it's a paradox
Now you know why Vader is the way he is.
22:07 he gets it! He’s understanding the story of the prequels! Oh man this part is awesome
In the book when the general said i was trained in the jedi arts by count dooku he said i trained the man that killed him
that's a dope line, but a bit too badass for Kenobi...
General grievous isn’t a droid he is cyberneticly enhanced so that’s why he has a heart.
In the series "star wars obi- wan kenobi" continues the story from that point.
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO GET TO THIS BRO LFGGGG it’s my favorite sw movie🤝🤝
Grievous wasn’t a human. He is a warrior species called a Kaleesh.
@@greybird1321 Yeah, sorry about that. Made a typo (if you can call it that I suppose).
@@Jumpyman_thegamerYT no worries.
Great reaction.
The tale of Anakin is sure one of the saddest.
I love watching someone watch this for the first time, great video
Been waiting for this moment
Watching this reaction, and seeing all the pieces come together for you was a genuine treat! Really loved it!
7:57 - I'm SCREAMING!!!🤣🤣🤣He said, "He was clappin' them cheeks BAREBACK!!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Obi Wan didnt just use Soresu, he was recognized as THE master of Soresu.
He did it with Darth Maul too
I've always wondered how things would have played out if Anakin had been able to control his emotions for five minutes and realize how he was being manipulated by Palpatine. Would he have been strong enough to act as a double agent and take Palpatine down? Or would he still have turned due to the Jedi mistreating him?
"Not gonna lie i thought they all looked the same apart from taht one with the dreadlocks" is probably the most mad thing i hered all day
Palpatine Was Controlling The Galaxy For More Then 20 Years Literally.
As a life-long Star Wars fan, and someone that’s seen this movie more times than I can remember, this video made me smile, and remember how it made me feel to some extent when I first seen it nearly 20 years ago.
Was great to see a reaction from fresh eyes!
His first breath as Vader gives me goosebumps every time
this movie is such a masterpiece the shift in tone is so well done and one of the best star wars movies, im so glad that revenge of the sith is getting the recognition that it deserves now
Suprised he didn't see the Millennium Falcon during the Corasaunt landing scene.
seeing new people come to starwars makes my day!
One of the most powerful sith abilities is keeping yourself right on the edge of death without succumbing to it
The story of Anakin is a tragedy. His fears of loss become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
16:48 astromech droids can act as back up pilots for ships if necessary, but they function primarily as co pilots, navigators and engineers.
It doesn't get any easier watching it but at least I know the plot twists that are coming up
Don't worry, once you watch clone wars it will only get sadder 🤣
The reason it's because of the Bio chip thats on their brains they talk about it in the clone wars tv show
@@mariom1653And in "attack of the clones" the movie. The cloners that made them were very proud of how perfectly obedient and unquestioning their clones are.
@@tomdalsin5175yeah but afterwards there’s tons of clones who commited the order without willingly wanting to
@@mariom1653 Thanks for posting the spoilers I was trying to avoid!
The droid that was coughing is not a droid! it’s general grievous!
theres alot that makes anakin turn to the dark side , it was little by little you'd have to watch the animated show to see a lot of it, it kept chipping away at him. Padme just made it boil over.
“You meet your destiny most often on the path taken to avoid it “
This video had me more hyped then any reaction love
U don❤❤❤
Fun fact, the Emperor's face didn't melt away in that scene. That was his true face. His normal face was just a mask produced by sith alchemy
this is a VERY common misconception in the Star Wars fandom and is actually a complete falsehood.
@@originalSiiiN please elaborate
@@worldsgreatestspy5836 what more needs to be said? you are simply wrong about this one 🙏
If you think this hurt, the Obi Wan show stung too. The show was mid, but the end was good.
Without spoilers, Obi sees who Darth Vader is, and it breaks him beyond repair.
42:38 to borrow a quote from another Star Wars character: “Revenge does wonders for the will to live.”
The Sith are fueled by emotions, the stronger the emotion they feel, the bigger the power boost. In the old canon, there was a Sith that was so fueled by hate that he literally couldn’t be killed. The only way to beat him was to talk him into giving up and dying.
Ah i get it where you get it
The reason the emperor lied to Ani about killing his misses is because the sith gain strength through emotion and feelings so an emotion like rage being fueled by regret and sadness is basically like a steroid for sith its not good for em and its slowly killing them but damn them results though.
George Lucas once referred to episodes 1-6 as “The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker”.
This movie makes me cry everytime
Lmfao at you Mr. Townsend! You were ready to be a Sith Lord!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Finallyyy ayo but fr george lucas was COOKIN when he was writing this story
Every second of of this film is a masterpiece!
Defo my personal favourite Star Wars movie
Forever . . ."
