- Here's how to get a buttery smooth looking blurry background whilst recording videos using your MacBook Pro M2 - Mac OS Ventura. I don’t know if this is available on earlier MacBook versions.
1. Open up the app you’ll be using to record your video Let’s use QuickTime.
2. Select the MacBook webcam.
3. Go to the top right hand area of your screen. Next to the date and time you see this toggle icon.
4. Click on it and select video effects.
5. You’ll see the programme that’s using your the camera. In this okay, photo booth. Click on portrait and your video should now have a blurry background.
6. This can be particularly useful for meetings or for just giving a nicer look to your videos if you’re recording videos for TH-cam and you want to have that blurry background feel.
7. Comment T for Thanks if this helps you.
VIDEO TOOLS USED

Not seeing video effects on my iMac. Any ideas?
i'm not seeing anything either.
I'm currently using an M2 Mac on the latest version of the OS. What Mac machine do you have and what version of the OS do you use? Once I know this, I can help with troubleshooting.
@@OreApampa Hi, I struggled with this too! when you have your video app open, look for a green camera icon at the top bar. Mine was next to some other things I have pinned Like Notion Calendar and my pomodoro shortcut.
Thanks this was helpful. The FaceTime menu appeared in a slightly different place on my machine (top tool bar)
definitely helped out thank you!
Glad to hear it!
T. I appreciate you Ore!🙌🏼

Thanks!
You're very welcome @crystaltuske3142
I'm unsure if it due to a recent update - but when using Photo Booth, the toggle at the top right you show in the video no longer displays the same options.
Maybe a new video is warranted?? thanks
Good call! I might consider that
Great voice and camera presence.
Thank you!
Legendary Aunty!

I don't see video effects?
What version of Mac OS do you use?
@@OreApampa Look for the green camera icon. Mine lets me configure the F-stop on the camera to control the amnond of blur and the lighting on quicktime player
Is Apple silicon needed?
Hi there, the Mac support website says you need either Mac OS 12 or a Mac with Apple Silicon to have access to the feature
support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/facetime/fctm81f99179/mac#:~:text=With%20macOS%2012%20or%20later,Video%20Effects%2C%20then%20select%20Portrait.
@@OreApampa I have OS 13.4.1, but not silicon. I think the latter is the issue since the video effects option is not showing up
I think you're right on that.
Sadly this only works on MacBooks with Apple Silicon chips, typical Apple behavior
Unfortunately, this seems to be the case. If I come across any software that can do the same, I'll add a video on it. If you come across any, please do share.
