I've only just got into orchids - it's a bit of an addictive game, already got 3 new flowers this week alone 😊 I'm watching your videos religiously; had to use hydrogen peroxide for the first time today (scary!) but after watching one of your vids - all sorted. I just want to say I love the little "You have no power here!" reference to The Two Towers. It just makes me happy to know Dani has watched the LotR movies.
Salut Danny! I know this is an older video, but I hope you read this. You videos are inspiring and informative, I’ve learned so much from you. We all make mistakes and that’s ok, really! Don’t let people ever bring you down. I saved so many orchids thanks to you and I’m finally learning how to take good care of them. And even though we have very different climates, the information you share is so good that I can easily use it, too. Thanks to you I saved a phal and a vanda from stem rot; a rootless paphiopedilum, dendrobiums and phals. I know how to get rid of bush snails and spider mites. I also saved phals from moldy, full of algae media, that had like actual mushrooms growing inside. My latest pride and joy is my zygo Romy that does absolutely fantastic in a soil/perlite mix. Keep the fantastic work that you are doing si iti multumesc foarte mult 😉
I wish I never made the mistake of listening to people about how often you need to water (once a week or less), that your pots needs to be transparent and with more holes than a Swiss cheese and that sphagnum moss is bad, it would have saved me a lot of trouble, but at least it was a learning experience for me. Also I have to thank this channel for the spidermite solution, is really godsend :)
@@JohnJames. I never tried, because spidermites seems to only target orchids in my place, (and I have few other plants), but I guess it could work, I see no reason why not, but don't take my word too seriously, because I have no first hand experience in that.
I've actually had someone on a forum argue with me that bush snails were not like other snails and peroxide would not kill them. Someone had asked how to get rid of them without repotting. I suggested using a peroxide bath, just fill the pot with peroxide and allow it to sit and fizz. My family has used peroxide to fight garden snails for years, a snail is a snail... ohh yahhh and miss orchid girl says it works too. They REALLY didn't like that response lol. At that moment I didn't have any experience with actual bush snails so I didn't pursue the issue. Several months after that I did find them on a catasetum I had ordered that was in bloom and was extremely root bound. There was no repotting or changing the medium without cutting roots... so I gave it a peroxide bath and it worked lol. I wanted so badly to go back to that forum and tell that person that they were full of it lol. I didn't...I still think about it sometimes tho lol Also...I wish I was your neighbor! I love the terracotta pots and would take them all off your hands lol
Haha well it's as easy as to try it 😋 happy to hear other people being happy and snail free, they were my nemesis for about a year until I found what gets rid of them completely, no one should go through that! 🥺
One always learns better from mistakes, then from success. That said, it would be beneficial for you to talk again about fusarium. This is one of the most dreaded things to happen to a collection and your experience will be beneficial to all of us. Thanks for the great video :)
Thank you for all the information you share! My sister-in-law has brought me orchids and I have learned how to care for them and help them re-bloom all because of you. And it’s great for family relations! 😂
I love your channel, you have taught me a lot about orchids. I do have my own style and have experimented on my own to see what works. I would have learned on my own, eventually, but you pointed me in the right direction. Your videos are a valuable tool.
'You have no power here, treacherous mites...' Thank you for the reference- made my night. But my goodness, I didn't know how bad the red spider mite event really was! I used to wonder what drove you to find such an innovative and useful solution to them, but I wonder no longer. And thank you for sharing the concoction: I used it a few months ago back when I noticed the web weaving mites on plants all throughout my house. It was warm so I moved all my plants outside (a bit of a hassle with how many I have haha), sprayed them down with the shower setting on my hose, and after letting them dry sprayed the solution on everything. Safe to say that combination of things did a great job at ridding my plants of the pests. Some of my succulents got some fungal issues from all the water (guess I didn't let them dry off enough) but only one out of the 12 of those actually died, the rest were fine after some pruning. In the video about the solution you mention that you hadn't really tested them out on other houseplants, but in terms of the mineral oil (which I picked up from my local pharmacy in the form of laxative oil) none of my plants leaves suffered in the 2% concentration. I tested it on almost every leaf type too at the risk of my collection, and all went well luckily. The succulent issue was the only negative result- but if I'm totally honest I don't care too much about my succulents, compared to other, more tropical houseplants. Anyhow, yes, in my experience the solution is safe for most other houseplants. I sprayed pretty heavily too and all turned out fine. Thank you- you really did save my collection in that situation!
As for the exact brand, I used Walgreen's name brand Mineral Oil laxative- which was a bit funny to buy as I certainly wasn't using it for the intended purpose, but it worked like a charm, and was quite affordable for hiw little I have to use when I use it
I usually didn’t follow any advice, I did things my own way, sometimes it worked really well, but many orchids were lost... now I’m much better with orchids than with any other plants... my orchids are really thriving, while I struggle keeping my ferns alive...
@@beebrown4054 I actually don’t know how, I had the same problem for a while, but now they are really good bloomers, though I’m struggling with dendrobiums. To be honest, I usually water them once a week, but I sometimes forget to do it for a one or two weeks and that might be one of the reasons. But I suspect that it depends largely on their genetics, I have a phalenopsis that just refuses to stop blooming, It blooms for around 7 months, just making new flower spikes all of the time and for the rest 5 months it produces a large leaf, and none of the orchids bloom so much
I have one phal orchid I'm trying to help live. The roots weren't really that good and didn't have many. I bought a clear slot pot and the media from repotme. It's been in there for a couple weeks now not sure if it's happy or not. I monitor the water and light... Hope it makes it through. Your channel is the only one I watch! 👍
Dani, you’re ABSOLUTELY correct! And I thank you for the advice bcz I just started my collection about 5 years ago. The same thing happened to me, using the same water! It’s not worth it. Several got a fungus (I think). But with the peroxide and repotting, all survived but one! Well, one of my vandas is still alive, but just doesn’t want to be happy. The roots got all grey and shriveled and segmented. Any advice there? One my favorite Robert Mueller, bright orange flowers. Ugh! I WAS able to replace it last year with a red one. It’s AWESOME! Thanks Dani!!!
I have huge issues with spider mites (Brisbane, Aust.) because of the climate and that my collection live outside under the trees, exposed. Best solution I have found so far is: 1) Move plants well away from their growing area and spray the foliage with a hose first to knock mites off 2) While waiting for plants to dry, thoroughly hose down the growing area 3) When the foliage is dry return plants to their growing space. Spray plants and the potting mix with neem oil or similar. The oil works firstly via contact (blocks their breathing holes so they suffocate) and also suppresses their appetite causing them to starve. You will need to treat the plants again in 7-10 days to get rid of any that may have been missed or hatched from eggs after the first treatment. Since starting this process, which I do in early spring, and again towards the end of summer, I have almost no mites. I did consider purchasing predatory mite eggs but that can get expensive and maintaining the predator mite population can be difficult (However if you have an indoor growing area and only release a few eggs at a time it could be more manageable).
Love your videos. Thank you. I’m totally new to orchids. I live in south Florida and I’m experimenting with orchids attached to palm trees and orchids in hanging pots. So far so good. You’ve given me courage and confidence!
I know what you mean Dani regarding mistakes. I too live in a warm climate 90's with bigh humidity in the summer but good air movement around my plants via several ceiling fans on my lanai. In the winter it imaybe can go down into the high to mid 40's for maybe a week or two a year total. Anyway I have had a heck of a time growing paphs. The plants always developed root rot or crown rot even though I made sure I didn't get water in the apex. Well, I decided to change all of the 8 plants I had from a bark mix I purchased from repotme to straight sphagnum moss so I can water from the bottom. They looked fine for a short time, then 2 died (I expect they were too far gone anyway). After about 1 month I noticed they stopped growing & looked bad again. I took one out of it's pot & the medium was very wet in the middle & bottom of the plastic well ventilated pot, while the top was dry. Needless to say the roots were not in good condition & I had lost a lot of them. Back to the bark mix & after checking the others they are all in the repotme mix again. This time I will still water them from the bottom & am hopeful they can bounce back. Paphs are beautiful & I am hoping I can get things right for them. Fingers crossed. : )
Hi, what I'm doing is using my clay pots to set my plastic orchid pots in. I haven't found a good source for ornamental pots, they are very expensive. So, I have a way to keep the algae from growing and contaminating the media....and recycling my clay pots. Of course I still need saucers but so far the clay pots are doing the job. No salt nor algae build up on the clay pots.
Hi, I am a new subscriber, I just ran across your channel and I really appreciated the info. I am also a new Orchid addict. I don't know what it is about orchids, but after my very first one, I had to have more, and more turned into, well a whole lot of them. But now I am worried, I do, or I did plunge my plants, all of my plants, and use the same bucket for all. And what you just said has me really scared, everybody looks good and I've had the orchids or started collecting them for a year now and I have new spikes and even have my first Kiki! Which is very exciting.. but I will no longer plunge my orchids. Now I have done all my other plants like this and let them sit in the water for about 5 min. Now I am wondering if this is a good thing to do with them, eek!! Ok, it's not worth taking a chance to lose even one of my plants. Thank you for your knowledge. God Bless
OMG, I see 2 big mistakes I am making: shared water & clay pots!! I thought the clay pots would keep moisture for the air roots, but they are definitely drying out in 2 days (this is Florida, a/c running all the time). So, where did you get the lovely colorful plastic pots? Mostly in stores we see the clay ones or dull colored ones. I love the bright orange, yellow, pink....
Hi Miss Orchid, I'm not an orchid expert at all. However, I have a question for you. Have you ever tried a thin coating of olive oil on the top of dull Orchid leaves? I had an orchid that was dehydrated and stressed. I followed your suggestions to repot, hydrate and revive the orchid and it did recover. However the old stressed leaves still had a dull finish, the new leaves were nice and shiny. I thought I would try adding a thin layer of olive oil on the top of the old leaves for them to conserve more water and look better. It seems to have worked well. What do you think of this practice? Bad or good? It is natural and appears to be similar to what healthy new leaves are doing themselves. Cheers, Jon
Hi, I just bought my first orchid😁 she's beautiful and strong. I then also took the one near by that was in desperate shape. Having been badly sun burned and partially broken. I'm watching videos to learn what to do to help her recover. 🤞thanks for being part of my solution!
Hey Danny! How did you deal with orchid viruses? How do you avoid contamination, did you destroy or did you keep the sick orchids? How do you avoid buying virused ones? I’m not sure there’s a company that sells “tested virus free” in my country...
I hear you speak about the ‘bush snail’ in a few of your videos, are these pest native to certain areas ? I’m fairly new to caring for orchids & I live in NY. Not sure if orchids are prone to this pest in certain parts of the world . Thanks ! PS great video 🥰
I watched videos on fertilizing orchids with banana peel water and such. How safe is that for these delicate plants? I simply LOVE your videos and the vast knowledge you have. I even started a library on your videos and plan to purchase items from Repot Me 💝
One of my phalaenopsis has been blooming literally since early March. The last bud to open, however, has only the column...no throat! It's an otherwise healthy plant. The flower itself is otherwise perfect in color, shape & size relative to the other blooms. It was not damaged...just opened with no throat or lip. How does this happen?
I have 4 orchids that I must have tortured trying to learn how to care for orchids, I wish I didn’t do what I did I have an orchid that haven’t had a stem yet that’s for a year now and I have 3 orchids that died 3 years ago, It’s a learning period for me and now I have more knowledge on how to care for orchids
@@Marite011 I just cover the entire pot in vegetable oil and put it on the oven for about an hour or so at max heat (dont worry, your pot will not burst) and you will endup with a thin glaze. if you dont wanna put it on the oven just do the same, but the glaze will fade over time.
Yes I have found clay pot can cause mediums to dry out. What I have done and this is not for an orchid is seal the pot and paint. As I am very new to it is growing I will use plastic pots. Not my desired choice (plastic not good for our environment) but great for a learner
Hi Dani, I love your video by the way. I recently moved to Germany myself, I made the move from the USA. However, I wasn’t able to bring any.. any of my plants, how were you able to get your orchids here, I would really appreciate the info for when I move back.
I have learned a lot from watching your video’s and listening to my mother. And when I combined both and try some things. I have had a lot of success:)
Hello Dani…my question is once orchid is/are planted, is there any harm in spraying the pot with hydrogen peroxide to keep pest from entering and laying eggs?
hi dani. i love your videos so much and you have been inspiring me to be my best orchid grower. i was wondering what kind of bark u use. it looks like plain cork but is there a brand? where do u buy it?
I am about to lose my favorite first orchid which has grown incredibly well until I have repotted and used a too too strong pesticide. It was dithane and I think this was the reason why it has almost no roots now. What can I do to save her?
Another really useful video, thank you. I just got my sphagnum moss (finally) and I'm about to start repotting, so as a newbie I have a question: should I use the moss with premade Orchid soil mix, or use the moss with just bark (or something entirely different)? Have a good night. 😊
I love the look of double potting with plastic pots, with a coloured pot on the outside but it has not proven to work for me. I have had the best results with clay pots I think because the quicker drying time counters my tendency to overwater, but! I am in Australia in a Mediterranean climate.
I wanted to ask if you could possibly do a video on growing orchids in water only without media? Secondly what is your opinion on this subject? Love your channel! I've learned a great deal.
Hi, I'm not a fan of this setup, so I doubt I'll have a project around it any time soon, I'd rather focus on other culture aspects I believe are more efficient and appropriate. But I think there are other people covering this here on youtube :)
Hi Danny! I recently found your channel and am obsessed with your videos! You have helped me so much with my collection. I really appreciate that you stay true to yourself, very inspiring. 🌱❤️
Hi, I'm a new orchid enthusiast and thanks to your videos I have learned a lot. Thank you. I just heard that you are in Germany or from Germany? I'm looking for good quality substrate in Germany. I would love to purchase from repotme but it is so expensive with the new shipment costs from outside the EU. My orchids still are in their substrate I bought them in. I don't think it's very good but will wait until bloom time is over. But until then I want all applies ready. Pine bark is the most common here but mostly in very bad quality. I did find nice pots at Amazon now but I'm still unsure with the substrate. Organic or anorganic (the bigger round perls), sphagnum moss or not, I'm unsure. Can you help me out?
A newbie orchid owner here that made a huge mistake and I do not know how to fix it. When the flowers fell off, I mistakenly cut the spikes to the soil level. Now, I do not have any new spikes growing anywhere. Only leaves are remaining with two completely dried old tiny spikes. Can this be rectified, or will the plant never flower again?
Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have learnt so much from them! I have a question for you please. Is it ok to water orchids occasionally with water and a little hydrogen peroxide 3% added (say 1:10 ratio) just as a preventive maintenance measure or would it harm the roots. My orchids are in leca. Thank you 😊
I use just and only clay pots since at least 10 years and i love it :D (my plants also) I had mite problems also for a long time than in a local store i could buy predator mites and i took them on the orchids they ate all of the red mites than died in hunger.
Geez. I'm a newbie with phals. I just repotted 2 today. Found out that there is a piece of foam in the middle of their roots. Been wondering why the roots are turning yellow and dying till I found out the foam stuck in the middle of the roots. So I took those foam soggy foam cubes and repotted. I shared water with them. I will try to remember not to share water next time.
Im no expert but what I’ve heard from Danny is that it mostly depends on the medium your phal is being repotted from and also the humidity and temperature of your climate
Also the leaves are very healthy and have a couple dark spikes. Bought miracle mix by Isabelle which the composition consist of bark nuggets from the west, coconut fiber, and limestone. Is this hood to use? I took pictures but no way to show you them.
Hi Danny! I know this was a while ago, but I decided to comment because I don’t think it’s weird at all to have a phobia about insecticides. They kill life, and therefore likely pose a health risk to us too, as well as our beloved pets. So although your emotional reaction may not be justified, your concern is certainly justified. After all, one’s proven that it doesn’t affect the rest of us at all, whether we know it or not. Love ya girl 😉
Have lots of knowledge from your videos. I have concern about my orchids . I noticed the leaves is getting dry , I did repot the orchids and that what I noticed . I noticed in the morning that there is a clear and sticky like a drop I found in the leaves and stem of the flower. What will be your advice.
I got to respect the anime avatar. 😉 Thank you for the video. Also, a question, where do the Bush snails come from? Like fungus gnats too. If the soil/medium is in an indoor environment and isolated from the outside world, how do pests get to your plants? 🤔
So I have a question for you. I repotted an oncidiums from a nursery to bark with just a small amount of moss It’s in a pretty big self watering pot so trying to pour it through that little hole in the corner can be a bit tricky. I suddenly became concerned that I had no moss so I took out some of the bark only to discover that it was all soaking wet. I’ve been waiting in between watering sand since it’s supposed to be self watering what the heck am I doing wrong? I’m afraid of root rot now and since the plant was so big it was difficult to tell what was healthy and what wasn’t. I decided to wait until I need to repot next year but I didn’t think the bark should be soakin wet
Hi I just found your TH-cam channel I've had a orchid for almost a year is very beautiful her flowers are a mixture of purple pink orange and it was doing good and I had a friend tell me that I should water it with some rice water it started smelling funny and now the roots are rotting it still looks like it's in good shape the leaves are starting to get wrinkly I'm going to transplant it should I spray the root with a little bit of peroxide and water I don't want her to die
Hi Dani! Where do you purchase your decorative pots? I love the orange, pink, yellow and blue pots from this video and would love to get some just like them!
I bought two Orchds one from Lowes and one from Walmart. They are beautiful. One has roots coming from the media. I would like to use some rocks I purchased from Lowes. Should I wash these rocks in a special mixture?
Hi, not sure what special mixture you refer to? Before experimenting with media, I think you should know a bit more about why we use them and what media do what for the orchid th-cam.com/video/tMHpameTvCo/w-d-xo.html now you can make a more informed decision on what would be better for you and your orchid ☺️
Hi, at orchid nurseries or garden centers, if you're lucky to have some that sell orchids, in your area. Search for 'missorchidgirl where do we buy orchids' and you'll learn more!
I have an orchid that grew babies on the old bloom stalk, right in the middle of the stem. I can repot but, since they are in the air, all the roots are currently floating in space. I’m unsure about how to separate them from mom and repot. Please advise me about this process so my babies will thrive.
Are Vanda boxes good for orchids? I bought a small one for my miniature orchid and it looks so nice but it doesn’t go all the way down in the box but that’s ok. In think?
I like the plastic cups better than the clay pots too. The reason be, I like to see the action underneath (roots, media, and air pockets). Plus the holes in the plastic cups have holes where you know airflow is happening.
Hi Danny, love your videos...can I ask a question..can orchids spontaneously change colour? I have a white Phalaenopsis than shot out a new flower spike (from the bottom) and its now Yellow and burgundy O.O
I’m new to all this and loving your channel I’m looking at the pot at the back left and seeing what look like bulbs in the pot can I ask what these are ,thank you so much I’m learning at great amount
I have phalonopsis orchid plant.the problem is root rote came.i already removed all roots and clean with hydrogen peroxide.but new root coming fast.but new root didnt coming out side. stuck same growth. Can u advice for this issue.
I got my first full grown orchid yesterday! (Gifted b my hubster) I saw several of your videos before and i wanted to say thank you for being so informative. I'm so educated now and eager to take this journey!
At 18:35, what's the orchid at the bottom right of the video? The one in the pink pot with pinstripes on top of the leaves, and the leaves appear reddish underneath? It's really pretty!
So, you said in this video you had bush snails, but I remember yesterday I watched a video where you emphatically said you never had bush snails. Did that just mean in terms of not using hydrogen peroxide as a practice?
Hi, I do believe I said I never had issues with snails ever AGAIN, but it's important to check the upload date of my videos. They span from 2013 to now, in 9 years many things have changed. In 2013 - 2014 I had snail issues, everything after was easily eradicated 😋
@@MissOrchidGirl yes, upload time is important, I was looking for clarity, as I said, I remembered hearing it as never but it was around whether or not to spray H2O2
That Australian you linked to is based in Brisbane. Growing orchids there is like growing cactus in Arizona, it’s gardening on easy mode😆

One always learns better from mistakes, then from success. That said, it would be beneficial for you to talk again about fusarium. This is one of the most dreaded things to happen to a collection and your experience will be beneficial to all of us. Thanks for the great video :)
I would really love to see all your orchids collection.. ❤️
Love your videos! I just got my first orchid and you’ve been helping a lot! So informative and detailed. And your accent is adorable!
'You have no power here, treacherous mites...'
Thank you for the reference- made my night.
What did you do to get them to bloom?
Ive had my orchid for a year... and for 11 of those months I had no flowers... just big pretty green leaves.
@@beebrown4054 I actually don’t know how, I had the same problem for a while, but now they are really good bloomers, though I’m struggling with dendrobiums. To be honest, I usually water them once a week, but I sometimes forget to do it for a one or two weeks and that might be one of the reasons. But I suspect that it depends largely on their genetics, I have a phalenopsis that just refuses to stop blooming, It blooms for around 7 months, just making new flower spikes all of the time and for the rest 5 months it produces a large leaf, and none of the orchids bloom so much
OMG! I just shared water yesterday for the first (and now, last) time!! Thanks Dani!
Did it work? Did you save it?
Best solution I have found so far is:
1) Move plants well away from their growing area and spray the foliage with a hose first to knock mites off
2) While waiting for plants to dry, thoroughly hose down the growing area
3) When the foliage is dry return plants to their growing space.
Danny, truly one of your most useful videos, keep up the great work 🙂 !!!
I am new to Orchids and want to say thank you for the great videos !!
Hi Miss Orchid,
I'm not an orchid expert at all.
Cheers,
Jon
forget other people i think youve done a lovely job with your personal orchid collection xx love the videos
I even started a library on your videos and plan to purchase items from Repot Me 💝
Thank you for sharing D. Great insight on your orchid experiences. Lessons learnt!! Mistakes are meant to be for us to learn from them.
I love all of your colored pots. Is there anywhere that I could purchase them?
One of my phalaenopsis has been blooming literally since early March. The last bud to open, however, has only the column...no throat! It's an otherwise healthy plant. The flower itself is otherwise perfect in color, shape & size relative to the other blooms. It was not damaged...just opened with no throat or lip. How does this happen?
Oh goodness, I wish I had watched this before I repotted my orchid earlier today. Hopefully it will be alright!
Same
I have 4 orchids that I must have tortured trying to learn how to care for orchids, I wish I didn’t do what I did I have an orchid that haven’t had a stem yet that’s for a year now and I have 3 orchids that died 3 years ago, It’s a learning period for me and now I have more knowledge on how to care for orchids
About the clay pots: I live in Brazil and it's very hot here. What I do is to make it waterproof by using a vegetal oil.
How you do it?
@@Marite011 I just cover the entire pot in vegetable oil and put it on the oven for about an hour or so at max heat (dont worry, your pot will not burst) and you will endup with a thin glaze. if you dont wanna put it on the oven just do the same, but the glaze will fade over time.
Tiago López thanks i need to find a way to seal my clay pots with planted orchids, they are getting mold...
Danny are u still in CY? have a piece for you to save! new to this, learning to take care of my ladies! thank you!!
Watching from Bristol Tennessee USA. Sending full support. I love watching your videos. ❤️🇺🇸🙏👍🏠
hi dani. i love your videos so much and you have been inspiring me to be my best orchid grower. i was wondering what kind of bark u use. it looks like plain cork but is there a brand? where do u buy it?
I am about to lose my favorite first orchid which has grown incredibly well until I have repotted and used a too too strong pesticide. It was dithane and I think this was the reason why it has almost no roots now. What can I do to save her?
Another really useful video, thank you.
I just got my sphagnum moss (finally) and I'm about to start repotting, so as a newbie I have a question: should I use the moss with premade Orchid soil mix, or use the moss with just bark (or something entirely different)?
Have a good night. 😊
I just mix the moss with the bark, or layer it, all my orchids luv it!
Miss dont feel bad, same way about using insecticides and pesticides especially indoors. Helpful video tks
This has been most informative. I have already made some of these mistakes 😔 but I am definitely know better now. Thanks Dani
Thank you 😊
I use just and only clay pots since at least 10 years and i love it :D (my plants also)
I had mite problems also for a long time than in a local store i could buy predator mites and i took them on the orchids they ate all of the red mites than died in hunger.
Is it possible to print the orchid names you are referring to on the screen please
I also have a bunch of pine bark but it’s in my yard for use in the greenhouse, can I safely use it for media?
Hi there, do you still use lecca for phalaenopsis? What do you recommend as the best medium for phalaenopsis? I love your channel.
Im no expert but what I’ve heard from Danny is that it mostly depends on the medium your phal is being repotted from and also the humidity and temperature of your climate
at 14:17, what is that set-up? is it PVC pipes? Is it something that can be ordered as a set, or does one have to be handy with the raw materials???
Is Alaska fish fertilizer good for orchids? Thank you for sharing your knowledge about orchids
I'm glad you said something about your mistakes and mishaps. I won't feel like such a failure lol
Thank you for the video. Also, a question, where do the Bush snails come from? Like fungus gnats too. If the soil/medium is in an indoor environment and isolated from the outside world, how do pests get to your plants? 🤔
Bush snails mostly always come with newly bought orchids. They don't come from indoors. The gnats come flying through the windows ar anytime.
Good video. Always learning from you. You give good tips and tricks and other secrets to growing orchids both in doors and out.
Enjoyed your very informative video. Thank you for the information
I love your channel and learning from you. Where can I purchase some different types of orchids?
Hi, at orchid nurseries or garden centers, if you're lucky to have some that sell orchids, in your area. Search for 'missorchidgirl where do we buy orchids' and you'll learn more!
I have an orchid that grew babies on the old bloom stalk, right in the middle of the stem. I can repot but, since they are in the air, all the roots are currently floating in space. I’m unsure about how to separate them from mom and repot. Please advise me about this process so my babies will thrive.
Most informative, Thank You
That's how I learned that lesson of sharing water because I spread fusarium severely!!!
Uh, I can relate to that :(
Me too 😓
Hi, I was wondering if you would tell me what the plant is at 5:06 in the yellow pot. Please.
I had a mushroom in my Miltoniopsis. I did not mind. It was really cute, and I love mushrooms.
It seems strange to see roots growing outside the pot and on top of the bark. Is that how they are supposed to do?
Are Vanda boxes good for orchids? I bought a small one for my miniature orchid and it looks so nice but it doesn’t go all the way down in the box but that’s ok. In think?
Hi, not sure what type of box that is, never saw a Vanda being sold in a box before.. better stick to baskets or pots!
@@MissOrchidGirl it’s the wooden boxes that Repotme sells.
HELP! On my phal something has made holes in leaves also leaves have turned white at base,in full bloom at the moment,no mealy bugs spotted
I like the plastic cups better than the clay pots too. The reason be, I like to see the action underneath (roots, media, and air pockets). Plus the holes in the plastic cups have holes where you know airflow is happening.
I'm just putting mine in a clay pot for stability
I made the mistake of putting my orchid in water and the outer cover came off and only have the hard spikes. What can I do with it, can it be saved
Hi Danny, love your videos...can I ask a question..can orchids spontaneously change colour? I have a white Phalaenopsis than shot out a new flower spike (from the bottom) and its now Yellow and burgundy O.O
Hi, yep it happens with quite a few orchids, hybrids in particular. I talk more about this topic here th-cam.com/video/A9_lGIyLuY0/w-d-xo.html
hi, do you own any trichoglottis to share on the channel?? love your videos!!!!
What do you think of spraying a mild bleach solution on the surface
I’m new to all this and loving your channel I’m looking at the pot at the back left and seeing what look like bulbs in the pot can I ask what these are ,thank you so much I’m learning at great amount
Orchids with large pseudobulbs are typically some type of Oncidium.
I have phalonopsis orchid plant.the problem is root rote came.i already removed all roots and clean with hydrogen peroxide.but new root coming fast.but new root didnt coming out side. stuck same growth. Can u advice for this issue.
I don't share water. I learned this from you. Ty
It's really pretty!
thats a jewel orchid :))
@@tillandsiashaworthias Thanks! :D
