I'm so glad there is a community dedicated to this. Collecting physical Switch games has been unfulfilling because of their all red spines with not even fancy word art for the game titles. Just plain text. It seriously made me consider going all digital. Thank you for spreading the word on this! This should reinvigorate my love for physical media!
I don't display my games so I never thought much about the spines but its good to know that when I have room to put them on a shelf there is a place with the designs already made!
Normally I have them on my entertainment center near the console, but its a bit messy so I was moving some things around and felt like this was the perfect time to try this project. That subreddit is honestly so generous and amazing! I only had to make 1 spine myself for a game that wasnt on there but tbh i enjoyed doing it lol.
Hey, thanks so much for spreading the word! I created the idea and template, it's so cool to see collectors adopting it for their collection, yours look great!
Hello! Thank you so much for your awesome resources. I did link your tutorial in the comments so others can check it out. It was a fun project and I love how they turned out 🥰
These look 1000xs better than the solid red. I use to like the solid red uniformity but then realized they aren't all uniform. Most were right aligned but some text was centered and some used special fonts. It was difficult for my kids to find fhe game they wanted quickly (they're learning to read) so the front marching should help that. It just looks so good.
I agree! Honestly it can be so helpful to have something to set these cases apart. I like uniformity as much as the next person but I also like a creative and fun look more. Plus custom spines can make things a lot easier for little ones or people who may have reading/vision struggles.
I only have 4 switch game cases, but damn this is a really good idea, the spines look WAY better. Also that subreddit is so generous, I've gotta try this myself :,)
Do it do it do it- even four games is still enough to upgrade the look! Im a fan of owning the physical copy but there are some people who have every single game ever for the switch and its an impressive shelf for sure!
Thank you so much for making a video about this! I've also been feeling "meh" about the red spines, and having this video and resource links right here is absolutely going to goad me into swapping to the custom spines. They look SO GOOD with the art on the side; definitely prefer!
Youre so welcome! Im really glad I could help put it all in one place. I came across the reddit and was immediately in love with the idea and cant wait to update more games in the future. ♥
Your shelf looks gorgeous! I’m working towards this, as well! While I don’t mind the red spines, it gets bothersome when you have a full stack of games and you can’t easily find what you’re looking for. Especially if you’re displaying them. I loved the Reddit ones I saw online, but I want all of the logos to be an exact size and be positioned in a certain place to give it even more uniformity, so I’m just doing them myself. I’m lining up my visual novels with the portrait, all ruled from chin to head so they’re all the same size. Can’t wait to print them out and see the overhaul ❤
That sounds so awesome! Im the same way, I didnt *hate* the red spines but I love my games having more character. Im grateful people offer such cute designs for free and you can even request titles in that reddit for people to make designs of! Its super cool ♥
@@HatterInsanity for sure! The good old days when spine arts were full of character and flavor. Reddit is such an awesome community, ngl. I’m a graphic designer for a living, so I have no problems doing them myself! I’m considering uploading the ones I made, since there’s visual novels in Japanese that people might also have.
Nice video I recently as of this year made a post on the switch spines Reddit thanking them for making my as well as others switch physical game collection look more prestige.
Thats so great to post thanking them! Honestly i was so surprised how many people actively fulfill requests for others on there and the massive collection of games theyve already made designs for. Its really so nice of everyone who contributes :)
It could be how youre resizing them or your printer settings! You can paste them in to a word document for printing but if you use photoshop make sure your canvas has a higher DPI so the quality stays vivid :)
@@GLXY23 I use an Epson Ecotank ET-2720. You definitely have to mess with any printers settings and the file needs to be a higher DPI so it comes out nicely.
Dude, fugg those red spines. Absolutely abhorrent. When I look at my games it is such a pain to find a game to play even when they are in alphabetical order.

@@HatterInsanity I saw, thanks so much for the shoutout!! So happy you like them!
Super happy to see these are catching on!!! They really do improve the flow of a collection so so much :)
Right!? Im so lucky to have come across them because its totally game changing ♥
@@HatterInsanity Quite literally! Ha ha. I actually make a few spines for the Reddit myself, I design the 3DS/Wii U style spines

i might try this and see how i feel cause i like the simplicity of the red spines it not too overwelming with color

I’m boutta do this, now I don’t have to scan through my whole collection to find a game cus they all look different
72dpi is screen resolution… 300 is really the only way to go for printing… liked and subbed! Great video!
Thank you so much James! I always aim for 300 dpi personally because 72 looks so muddy. Definitely great info to have :)!

Wonderful 🎉❤❤❤❤
is there a database of original covers? (full, not just the spine)
Idk why but when I print them out they look very low quality

@@HatterInsanitydo u know how to change the dpi on krita????
@@HatterInsanity what printer did you use for printing these spines?

@@HatterInsanity thx for the response, going to check this out 😊
I actually prefer their red spine. The difference colors that aren’t cohesive always looked ugly to me.
