Sometimes you just need to take matters into your own hands. I'm so pleased to have found the Switch Spines subreddit. For a moment I almost dismissed the thought just because I didn't really think the standard spines were a problem, but it only took one look at a picture of a finished set to change my mind. I'll be continuing to print custom Switch Spines as I add new games to my collection, though I'll probably wait until I have a few to print at once.

I personally prefer the very uniform Switch boxes.
I would only want uniform red background, and left aligned logos.
They do look so much better with the custom spine and they were pretty simple to make. The red spine kind of hurt my eye in a way that it sting. And I like the fact that you're not printing the whole cover again. Simple and cheap, definitely going to be doing this to improve the collection!

Really, really great video! First off, great shout outs--Russ, Rocker, and DC are fantastic channels to be following--they have some of the best ideas! I'm always torn on if I want the games at the edge of the shelf or pushed back with space for toys and such up front. Lady Laci likes the latter--I sometimes like putting stuff behind that I won't miss--maybe sports titles or boxes and such.
Really love the kick you gave the spines--gotta have some style to these cases!!
Thank you so much! I also thought about explaining how the rear space could be used a cubby hole to keep private property accessible, but discretely concealed. But that seemed like a can of worms I didn't want to get too involved with. If people have things to hide away, they'll figure it out, lol.

First of all, I really appreciate the shout out!
But more importantly I want to say that this video was incredible. The floating shelves I use are super deep and I’ve played around with putting stuff behind but those square wooden dowels seems like the best way to do it. And the custom spines you showed off look amazing. I am definitely going to be using many of the tips you shared in this video. The spines might take awhile because I have 100+ physical Switch games but from how good they look in this video I think it would be worth it. I also really appreciate how affordable these game room ideas are as you clearly show that stuff like the dowels and printing cost less than a dollar.

Love the idea! Thankfully my Switch games are on a shelf all of their own, but if I ever need to move them around and combine with other games, now I have a good idea of what to do!
I never thought the regular cases were a big problem personally. The updates are prettier to look at, but I'm more impressed with the improvement to usability. Truthfully, my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, so now I can see exactly which case is which with very little effort. Thanks for checking it out, I appreciate it.
I love ALL of your game case and organization ideas!! I've printed boxes, done custom artwork, and my favorite tip is using cassette tape boxes for game boy cartridges!
I don't use that method myself, but it is a really popular one.

I like those new spines but I rather take the European red spine design (but when they're consistent)
That's a really cool idea to make the Switch games more readable from a distance! And without damaging the originals.

Well, if it helps, I genuinely only did it to make the video, but I'm so pleased with how they turned out that I can't imagine not continuing.
The way I change up my Switch collection ascetic is by flipping dual sided covers inside out, currently I have close to a 50/50 ratio of dual sided covers and single sided covers. While this method isn't really helpful for identifying the games, it makes the ascetic much more appealing to me.
I know a few of my games have reversible covers, but I'm not sure which ones or how many, actually. And like you said, the only important thing is that it appeals to you. Our collections should make us happy. I don't collect for clout or to please others. Thanks!
Looks like something I need to do! I love the artwork on these spines. It is tough to find the games in a sea of red with white font lol, especially if you don't have the games in alphabetical order
Yes! I can even tell the games apart half way across the room now. 😊
Note: if you use glossy photo paper the added thickness of the spine may make your cases tougher to close. I assume eventually it will stretch the plastic enough though

I’m a fan of the simple aesthetic and in the UK there’s only a few games that skip the format but I can’t argue with how fantastic yours look!

I'm not really fussed about how the boxes look, but I really do like that they are small because I do like to put small things on my bookshelves in fount of stuff like small animals and stuff, but in saying that adding a spin art to the case does make them look a lot better, I may do this when I'm home alone one time save me having to explain why I'm doing it lol,
I actually prefer the sleek red spine. I was never a fan of the artwork on the spine BUT I do wish that every game came with artwork on the inside.

I don't mind the red spines at all.
Maybe that's because I'm used to the all-white PS2 spines here in Europe.
All my games are alphabetized as well, so I really have no problem finding my desired games

At 5:22 you could first cut all the excess « white » paper with your blade, then go for the vertical individual spines. You gain time 😊
You are correct! The reason I didn't this time is because the white sections also had the clearest cut indicators. I didn't want to mess up while I was recording video so I used those to cut as accurately as I could.

Also to note: UK Spines have the tiles in Block caps and centre-aligned on the spines... Why? I haven't a clue

The switch spine idea is genius
I thought so too. I wish I'd thought of it!
I wonder why Nintendo made the Switch spines look so bland like that. At least with the Wii they had the game's logo with sometimes an icon of the game, and the Wii U & 3DS used the game's logo most time with the game icon above which looks a little better than the Switch ones, but I still prefer the spine style from the GameCube era.
I guess they wanted to go with a simplified aesthetic and didn't think it would matter. And it really didn't matter, if you're only considering sales figures I guess. But yes, even though the Wii, Wii U and 3DS spines are primarily white, at least they still feature the Logo version of the game title for variety and being easier to identify at a glance.
I got very angry at first because I love the minimalistic spines of the switch boxes but at the end of the video my opinion completely changed and I actually think i'll give this a try.
I hope you weren't too angry about it, lol. But this fix can always be undone with no lasting effect.
