Brian's songwriting is incredible. Funny seeing people comment on Brian's singing quality....As an older guy from Jersey, I remember them saying that about another guy from Jersey....never seemed to matter....it was the words that were put on paper...every word handwritten.
This man’s lyrics are unbelievable
You can just tell how happy he is just to be playing, that's how playing should be :)
Well played, sir... well played.
brian sitting cross legged on the floor.... playing guitar. this is all sorts of fun!
Definition of a humble, talented artist. A rare breed now.
He wanted to sit on the floor, we were all standing up at first but then he asked us all to get cosy and sit :)
So goddamn happy we have people like Brian out there. His love of music is equal parts infectious and inspiring. Awesome
I think that, on acoustic songs, he tries to reach high notes without using his awesome shouting voice, resulting in more uncertain singing, on the edge of his falsetto voice.
This is risky and, yup, imperfect, but that moves me so much. Sitting amidst a bunch of strangers with recording devices and sing this way not to overwhelm your guitar sound, I wouldn't call that bad singing.
That last “turn the key and engine over” holy amazingness happening right there. Unbelievable. Love it.
For a completely raw performance i'd say this was pretty bloody good
hes gottabe one of the most talented songwriters, who really knows how to use his voice, around at the mo, along with Jamie T
I was expecting Brian's voice to be much deeper because his singing voice is so deep. Haha. It's absolutely fantastic, and so is this.
Imagine sitting there while he performed this and you stared at it through your phone lol
what a great band....go on guys
He’s such a sweethearted guy, so many artists would flip out about the cellphones, but he is confident enough not to care.
Yeah I lve their songs but as soon as he is singing acoustic versions I love them even more! This man is made of awesome! Can't wait for the new record! :D
He definitely got the last chorus right vocally. The same things hapoens to me when I try something new vocally and realize its not really working and by the time I correct it the songs over..lol
He seems so happy :)
Even with the fret buzz i love it.
beautiful gibson but it has a lot of fret buzz.. i think it makes the song sound more gritty. thumbs up
people who are moaning about singing quality, get off your high horse!
this isnt auto tuned music this authentic song writing with authentic performances!
the way music should be, raw and passionate!
@Randy Layhey actually I usually really like the way he sings live. But I have to admit that this time it was pretty horrible
I gotta be honest I liked the raw and gritty nature of his voice in this.
Now that he's gone, I think we can all agree this song is lovely, but isn't the strongest performance Brian's ever given.
Literally love this
this is an actual artist!!!!!
They are the happiest human because they are around a great man
Amazing song. Amazing artist.
that song live is awesome ... !!!
Very raw I love it. Good shit
I really hope great things turn out for this band
today while in an appliance warehouse this song came on the radio I had no idea who it was and I just stood under this speaker for five minutes mesmerized by the awesome music now I love this goddamn band
Wow amazing I would of loved to be there
Couldnt agree more!!!
Awesome
My sentiments EXACTLY!
Great things have!
Who cares if it's not his best performance. Forget about the big bang, the world came together in three steps. Bob Dylan. Bruce Springsteen. Brian Fallon.
so it is def a cool ass moment that i would want to record but i find it funny ow alot of people using there phones filming are basically watching him perform through there phones...rather just put all my attention on him and have the memory forever
I like this version!! I dont think this is a bad one, at all
First, I wasn't specifically talking about 45.45 is one of my favorite songs the band has ever done, let alone off this album. I love it. I'm specifically talking about THIS performance. THIS one you're seeing RIGHT now.
Then you go on to make fun of me for pointing out something that is quite obviously there. Look up any of the other live 45 performances-- all of them being played in a lower step (unless you don't know what that means, then you're pretty much hopeless anyway.)
same can be said for any live performance
He didn't say anything bad about the actual song, he just said this performance was sub-par which is a perfectly valid statement.
texting fucking texting? for fuck sake put the phone down and get a beer in your hand and sit back and listen to this great musician cuz theres not many like this anymore
This is ridiculous. I love The Gaslight Anthem. I love Brian Fallon. I love every song he's ever written, and have learned each one on guitar. I'm a huge, long-time fan, and I have to say this is one of Brian's worst performances vocally. He's struggling throughout the entire thing. You say it's wrong for people to criticizes it... but even Brian himself has realized this isn't a powerful performance BECAUSE he has begun playing it in a lower step live. Not all criticism is unwarranted.
brian is the man
Amen
dont want to cause an issue, i mean at the end of the day its all about taste, but in my opinion not only is brian fallon gud enough to be mentioned with them i think he is one the finest songwriters in an awful long time. i think history will judge him, rightly so, to be up there with the best. he is more than a gifted sngwriter i think hes is one of the best songwriters around at the moment. i put him up there with frank turner and chuck ragan. he really is that gud!!!!!!
their fukin welcome to say wotever they like, just means more live tickets for us genuine fans if his singing hurts their ears. for someone to say that means they know nothing aboujt REAL music. personally im happy to sacrifice perfect tone for the ammount of soul and passion brian puts into every performance whether its in front of 10 people or 50,000 people. i think theres more than enough "autotune" clones int he world, im glad to see real rock music sung with genuine soul!!!!!
You are a genius.
This performance is one of Brian's greatest life achievements? Really? Are you actually seriously saying this?
It's sad when you think what this world has come to. People looking at small screens and worrying how they'll record the whole concert or something while there's their favorite band playing live in front of their eyes. They aren't even really feeling the concert and the music. This happens only once in a lifetime, don't waste it by looking at the small screen. It's the memory of the experience you had counts, not the video. Don't waste this experience, it only happens once in a lifetime.
We would because this was filmed by NME Magazine, not a fan, hence the different camera shots involved in the video
American Slang, on Sirius live radio, acoustic is amazing.
you can't "relive" a memory if the first time you saw it was on the screen of your iphone.
Around that 4:00 mark gets me tearing up every time.
pretty sure it's recorded by NME so yes we would. It's not a mobile recording
wow
clap clap clap !
word
Did anybody else notice SIA is in the group watching?
RAW PASSIONATE MUSIC CAN BE IN PITCH!!!!!!
What is the meaning of Engine over?
It's an elipsis, you can end a sentence with an elipsis.
Are you mad? Brian is an amazing singer!
i totally agree with what you say. id put brian fallon above any of the bands/individuals you have mentioned!!!!
Can I have a piece of them? ;)
You can't really do much when you're sitting down listening to an acoustic performance where the performer is sitting down as well.
Probably posting the picture to facebook right away....
2:04 cutie :)
oh... and great song... brian is the best
Please show me how it's done then :)
guitar starts at 1:24 and singing at 1:43 ;)
NHL 13 :D
What's a capo?
me too. :(
i love the beard, i'm totally gonna grow one of those bad boys
Marry me sexy! Lol. Jk. For real though, he is sooooo cute, and has the most amazing voice ever! Especially love it when he goes acoustic. He needs to do a solo album now! :D
ST.PAULI ! :D
Taking a photo you fool!
Isn't it weird how these two accounts (yours and Joe Mark's) were created within a day of each other? And have only ever commented on this video? Or seen it at all? You created two new accounts or got friends to help you be a passive-aggressive child? Surely you're above that?
man, he doesn't get a lot of these "heeeyeaaaah" tones in the choruses.
He looks Exactly like Sindrom, the vilian of the incredibles XD
I meant to end it at one comment but another part of your "argument", you ask where all my "big" life achievements are. Does the fact that I haven't sold a highly-charted album mean I have absolutely no weight in any conversation regarding the band? So I guess that means since you have not sold a charted album, that means you TOO have no stake in any argument?
Hast du ein Gott gesehen hast du Gaslight Anthem als gesang der Engel gehört..
"Turn the engine over" means "start the car."
brian just has trouble singing in the original key for 45, thats why they play it differently live now
i wasn't REALLY referring to him...kinda obvious i wasn't
St. PAULI!
Repeat 1:21
Well the only ones that you can actually make are Oasis, Whites Stripes, David Bowie, The Strokes, Beady Eye, and perhaps Lou Read (not sure though). If you can see the rest please name them as I cannot make out the rest. Out of all the bands I named Brian Fallon fails in comparison, yes he is a gifted song writer but he isn't quite all that.
Post some ticket sales of your live performances singing, and we'll compare em to Brians, k?
;)
I told all of my babes about you. I'm also using "MrMusic HotShot" as a new gamertag.
everybody has a bad day. he looks nervous. plus it's harder to sing sitting down.
he invited them to take their iphones out
I just wish the crowd was abit more into it. i hate still crowds. ..... >.
Well then, what's the point in being there anyway if you just want to film...
Also, this thing was already being filmed (with good audio and video) so why even bother making your own!
You get kind of pissed looking at these kids playing with their phones instead of just taking this thing in, if they were truly fans of Gaslight they would put the damn phones down and dig it. Accually on of them is brushin lint of he shirt, wtf?
There is a hole in the music industry?
You're kidding right?
Why are they sat on the floor? Get the poor bastard a chair
i kno right..she regrets it i bet
