- Für unsere neueste Rolling Stone Session traute sich Brian Fallon, den Song "National Anthem" zu spielen - den schönen, akustischen Closer des Albums "Handwritten. Es war das zweite Mal, dass er diesen Song alleine live performte, wie er uns zuvor verriet.
Die Kulisse hätte schöner sein können, aber als Brian Fallon von The Gaslight Anthem im Konferenzraum im 8. Stock des Universal-Gebäudes in Berlin "National Anthem" anspielte, hielt man zwangsläufig die Luft an. Es war das zweite Mal, dass Fallon den Closer ihres neuesten Albums "Handwritten" (hier gibt's die Review) alleine live zum Besten gab - was nach einer kurzen Hilfe von Gitarristen-Kollege Alex Rosamilia allerdings reibungslos klappte...
Listening to Brian helps me so much through out the day and life over all. In so many ways, more than I need to explain. I come from a very business like family, and I've always been thought out to be the paralegal or something of that nature...but I chose to become a tattoo artist and go a completely different path... Anyways, moral of the story... Brian keeps me believing in a life that I can live with music, soul, and heart. And I can live by that life...Thank you Brian...

I, for example, live in France, and love this band. The very few people I know who know them say "Yeah, the guy that plays like Springsteen".
Nope, Brian plays like a brilliant, creative musician, with his own ghosts, his very own lyrics, his fresh style, his humble view to music (see the Livestream video), and I wish everyone knew him, *then* I'd be happy to see people make comparisons with anyone then see fit.

I don't feel things, believe me, yet it only takes the first line of this song to make me tear up. fuck the feels, I think is what the kids say these days.

I was just comparing the two, if it was an Eric Clapton, Clash, Waits song I compared it to would there have been a problem? I understand he's a amazing creative artist.

Nothing but love for TGA.
Personally, The Navesink Banks or Red at Night or the closest thing he has to sounding like The River. This is more of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's Alright". Brian Fallon's, while unique because they are his own, have a heavily obvious influence of Springsteen. Not that that's a problem. Calling Brian my generation's Bruce Springsteen is high praise and a spot on opinion.

It would be impressive if this sounded like the studio version, given that he's not backed by three other band members and an orchestra.
Despite how it sounds, this is not an easy song to play.
