Thank you for all the great information! I fell in love with Greece in 1985 during a high school trip and was back twice last year for family travel. My dream is to retire there and your detailed descriptions of everything are so much more realistic than some others have shared. Thanks again and I can't wait to watch some of your other videos!
From 2019 and on, electricity became a stock market commodity in Greece and since then we have problem with the energy bills. Expensive energy influences food production, transport, etc
Thank you. This was very thorough. Hard times and higher prices everywhere , it seems. More and more homeless in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Many people live in vehicles. Thousands are getting laid off in the companies where my friends work. I’m working freelance for a company that is privately owned and they don’t usually lay off their workers. They move them to different jobs. I’m working on moving my things to a friend’s farm on the other side of the mountains in Eastern Washington state. Gas is near $5 a gallon.
@@SharonizedMakeUp when you Google you get different sites, but I don't know any specific ones, since I never needed them 🤷🏼♀️ I made a video about general information moving to Greece. That might be useful if you're planning to move here. To find a good apartment is a bit tricky... Good luck 🤞
We found the cost of food and fuel really high compared to the UK when we visited a couple of weeks ago - doesn't detract from the beauty of the island though!
Yes, unfortunately food and fuel has become very expensive here lately. Especially on the islands 😕 On the other hand, it's an ideal place if you want to live off the grid and grow your on food 🍋🍅🥒🌶️
Thank you for the comprehensive breakdown. Can I ask how people deal with the mid summer heat? I lived in Antalya before and spent most of the summer months from mid morning to late afternoon hiding indoors with AC units on full. Presumably this is too expensive for most local people given the high electricity tariff. Just how hot does it get in July/August? Is it too hot to sleep at night without AC? And could you give an idea for the monthly food bill is eating mostly at home with the odd visit to a taverna say once a week? Thank you!
The temperature goes up to 40 degrees Celsius in July and August. I think most people use fans, because they consume very little electricity, but don't help much with really high temperatures. I bought a fan, where I add cold water inside. For me it's too hot to sleep without a fan. We don't have AC, since we're off grid. Our stone house stays 10 degrees cooler than the maximum temperature outside. We (three people) spent about 600€ on food monthly.
I'm a stay at home mom, like most of the mothers here are. The job situation is not good. The best chance to find a job would be from Rhodes Town during the tourist season.
Thanks a lot! In Romania is the same situation. From Greece we have PPC company, the best delivery in electricety. The people, generally speaking, are living in powerty with manny and important problems. I try to ask you who is guilty from this situation?
I think there are a lot of people who are responsible for the situation that we're in right now. I prefer to figure out how to better the lives of my family and people around us and take daily steps towards these goals.
So, we intend to keep in touch with you. In 20 august we will be in Rhodes Town, like tourists for seven days. We wish you especially health and succesfull activity!
Are there local farmers in Rhodes?? Seriously thinking about moving to Rhodes from TX, where t cost of living is outrageous... and eggs are outrageously priced...

Well said
This was very useful! Thank you! 🙏🏾❤️ Can you suggest any sites to find appartements?

I really appreciate your honesty. Most of the videos I with foreigners living in Greece gives different information than your video.
Thank you 🙏❤️ I think truth is the best 😊

I'm surprised that some of those prices, food items in particular seem to be more expensive than here in the UK.
Yes, some items are very expensive here, especially hygiene products in some supermarkets.
24% value added tax. 😢
What do you do for work? What is the job situation like for English speakers in Rodos?

Yes there are a lot of small farmers here, not mass production. Also backyard chickens everywhere 😊
Έτσι ακριβώς έιναι. Και ποιοί ευθύνονται γιαυτό ? Οι πολιτικοί μας
This is ridiculous,very expensive 🙄
Americans should know when Europeans say "gas is 2 euros" that's price per LITRE NOT per gallon!!!
Yes that's right! One gallon is almost 4 litres. There's a big difference in quantity.
