The lead singer, Jay Black, had a near-operatic voice, which is again on display in one of their biggest hits, "Cara Mia".
Come A Little Bit Closer has GOT to be next. Yes Jay Black known as The Voice is the lead singer.
Love, love, love this band and so many of their songs.
Great choice Daniel! This brings back warm memories of my youth. Nice reaction. Thanks Harri and Daniel 🌺✌️
Thanks Debbie for finding remarks😮
At my first concert ever, I was 12 or 13. Jay and the Americans were the opener for the Herman's Hermits in Seattle WA. My older cousins came down from Vancoucer BC so I got to go as well. It was so exciting!
Fantastic submission, Daniel. This gives me memories from way back and this is one of the groups that first created my youthful interest in modern music. A shout out to Jay Black, Daniel, and Harri!!!
Thanks my friend for the kind remarks .
Another fantactic song Daniel. Thank you and thanks to Harri.
Still trying to catch up with my music sis. Hope your doing well😅❤
Cara Mia is another great by Jay Black and the Americans! Jay also sang Cara Mia, on video, later in life and never missed a beat!
Agreed ... Harri has to play that !
Great reaction! We lost Jay in 2021. He was 82.
I believe they did a cover of Hushabye in 69 or 70. Quite good. Jay was one of the greatest singers ever!!!!
Jay had such a great voice ❤
Wow, haven't heard this in decades. Thank you Daniel and Harri.
This was my favorite song of theirs when I was growing up Thought it was fantastic when I first heard it and still love it. Thank you for reacting and playing this song.
Thank you Daniel for this wonderfull suggestion ❤ Sounds very familiar, not sure if I know,
Anyhow nice revisit and Harri exelent reaction
The Voice!
Love it, I haven’t heard it in years
Yep. Gotta do "Cara Mia".
Nice one Daniel. Love that melody. Beautiful.👍
❤❤❤
A cover of The Ronettes. Love both versions. Yes. Do The Ronettes version please. Pretty sure Phil has passed. Thank you!
Harri, this is Jay Black who sang Cara Mia. Definitely one of the greatest singers ever
Phil Spector passed, great producer especially his Wall of Sound. This version is my favorite. Thxs Dan, really appreciate this is one of my favorite songs ever, leaves me with a great feeling.
Jay Black sang lead on most of their songs including their biggest hits.
I like both this and the Ronettes version.
Love Jay and the Americans. Jay Black is lead vocal. Thanks!
Beautiful song♥️♥️♥️♥️
Love this song ❤
Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan toured with them 69-70, before forming the Dan.
Yes,Jay Black has lead vocals that was unparalleled in the music industry. He was known simply as"THE VOICE" BY THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND HIS PEERS. THAT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF HOW GOOD HIS VOICE WAS... He has my choice of being the best lead vocal of the entire rock and roll Earl. Yes Phil Spector has passed away He died of COVID in prison. Jay and the Americans done many more great songs come a little bit closer, let's lock the door and throw away the key, this magic moment, only in America, and the list goes on They put out some wonderful music in the '60s and '70s. I saw him open for the rolling Stones the first time they came to America They also opened for the Beatles. Those two bands I consider being comprised of geniuses.... They both knew what he was. He passed away 3 years ago in October at age 82 He had dementia and got pneumonia... Don't think anybody will ever replace that voice.
Written by the prolific songwriting duo of Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil this song was 1st recorded by the Ronettes. Walker Brothers also did a great version.
This was a great band from the 60's-70's. The lead singer had a very powerful voice. "Walkin' In The Rain" was originally done by The Ronettes. Some of their other hits were "She Cried", "Come A Little Bit Closer", "Only In America" etc. In 1969, they recorded an album of their favorite oldies called "Sands Of Time", which included the hit "This Magic Moment" (The Drifters).
👍❤️🙏
❤❤
Harri you might want to check out Gary Puckett and the union gap. Gary has another incredible voice from that era.
David Cassidy version is good too! Partridge family show ❤️
Definitely I heard it, I agree it's a very good recording
Jay Black is my choice for best male vocalist of all time.
Ronneytes version is also very good
Phil Specter and Jay Black both died in 2021 😔
Hi, I was wondering if you still do Elvis reactions.
Spector claimed co writer credit as part of his producer contract. He was a good writer and may have added bits to songs but he didn't write as many as he is credited with. He is dead good riddance. The public will never know the damage he did to people. he was psychotic for decades before anything was done.
I like The Ronettes version better.
Ronnie cannot hold a candle to Jay Black on vocals. Too much smoking. IMO
Please react to " She Cried"
