Thanks. My mechanic is telling it about 2 hours just to take everything apart and check out what is wrong so I decided that I will just replace the rear actuator myself.
You never mentioned the model year of the Expedition or the 2 different types of rear blend door actuators, one with the D shaft and the other with the cross style actuator. Got to get the correct actuator. And you can do it a lot quicker w/o removing the seat belts, etc., just by loosening the bottoms of the C and D column covers on that side and removing the cup holder and removable tray. The panel is flexible enough to pull it out a couple of inches and use an 8 mm ratcheting wrench to remove the 3 screws that hold it in, and then replace the actuator.

Hello, Both of my back actuators aren't working. The one not showed on this video was clicking. The one on this video just not moving. I replaced the one clicking first which distributes air from floor to ceiling. And use that same one to test the other HVAC blend actuator on this video. Before purchasing a second one to be sure. But I still get no cold air on the back. I can however feel it get warmer now compared to before. When i raise the temperature on the back, but when I lower the temperature just stays regular outside air, not cold at all. Do both actuators in the back have to be working for this to function properly? I figured get rig of the one that distributes the air and keep the one that changes from hot to cold only. Side note, My front dashboard actuator also clicking. But I just saw in your video it has nothing to do with back AC. Also replacing because i get clicking annoying noise. And cooler air when i raise the temperature on my front air controls rather than when I lower the temperature. 😂
I have the same problem. I just removed the upper one and cup holder in order to access the unit. Even the unit has been disconnected and removed the clicking sounds are continuing from the bottom HVAC unit under large black cover which looks like a fan housing. Especially when trying to change air direction for the rear seats.
Frank, does the actuator cut on the blower? The ac has just stopped working in the rear. It does not blow hot or cold I have tried to cut it on from the front and the rear controls and I am not getting anything! Is it an actuator or a bad blower? Any help much appreciated! Thanks
cdonly9 ~ Volume of air , hot or cold is typically blower related & not related to actuator ~ I suspect a blower concern here ~ make to test that circuit before hand.

The expo has two actuators type devices for the rear hvac. One sits on top & easy to remove & the second sits on the side very hard to remove. Please explain about the difference in theses units and how to trouble shoot do you will change out the correct unit.
4 years later..........I turned the ac on and felt both units to figure out which one was clicking. Luckily for me it was the one on top. 5 minute fix with a 5/16 swivel ratchet
Nice video. How to know in which side motor actuator is damaged . Right or Lift? Another issue, I am hearing clicking sound behind the dashboard. AC is always on max ac. How to find which actuator is damaged?
Mine doesn't make clicking noises. However, the AC doesn't blow in the rear seats (from the ceiling). The AC does blow for the front seats and back in the cargo area. A computer check said it was the title of this video. Should I replace it or is the issue something else?
First this is a great video and the only one I have found for my specific vehicle. I have a 2013 Expedition EL Limited 4x4. When I turn on the rear heat full hot and full blower from the front controls, no air will blow from the top vents. When I turn on the rear full cold and full blower, then I get air from the vents. Do you think this could be an Rear Blend Door Motor, or one of the front ones? Also when sitting in the back and using temp control setting, heat and cold air blows from all vents. So it's only when using the front temp controls.
