- Hey Lobster Lovers, it's Jacob here, back with another epic seafood journey. This time, my dad (a seasoned 4th generation lobster fisherman) and I are taking our expertise to the sunny shores of Miami, Florida, diving deep into the city's vibrant culinary scene. With generations of lobster fishing in our blood, we're on a mission to discover not just the best, but the freshest Maine lobster available in this tropical paradise.
🍽️ Six Restaurants, One Mission 🍽️
We've handpicked six renowned restaurants, from the hidden gems offering budget-friendly options to the top-tier dining experiences with price tags that make you blink. Our goal? To put these establishments to the test, compare their Maine lobster dishes based on freshness, flavor, and the authentic taste of the sea that we know so well.
👨👦 A Family's Taste for the Sea 👨👦
Dad and I bring to the table decades of lobstering off the rugged coast of Maine. We know something about what makes lobster great, and we're eager to see how these Miami chefs stack up. Will the most expensive lobster prove to be the best? Or will we uncover value in the places least expected?
📹 Join Our Culinary Adventure 📹
This isn't just about tasting food; it's about sharing our family's legacy with you, exploring how our cherished Maine lobster is celebrated (or not) far from its home waters. From the docks of Maine to the docks of Miami, we're ready to dive in, and we're inviting you along for the journey.
So, buckle up, and let's find out together which Miami restaurant serves the ultimate Maine lobster according to two generations of lobster fishermen. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more seafood adventures with us!
The absolute best part of the internet is showcased in this video: a lobster fisherman from Maine is getting recognized by people thousands of miles away in Miami because of posts on YT/tik tok/Insta that somehow have a positive impact on their lives. Very wholesome.
it seriously made that employee's week to meet Jacob 😊
@@TheLindagdetroit he did
I thought the same!!! I’m like yay someone recognized him😂
Absolutely!
@@yeseniavilla5784 my words couldn't come out correctly him and his dad are amazing
"It's good if you're really hungry," is a very polite way of saying it tastes terrible.
I think I'm gonna adopt that phrase! 😂 Thank your dad for me!
„The dog would eat that..“ 😂😂😂so funny 👍
My nose works fine..he says leaning away from the Mac and cheese.
😂 #1 Dad comment 👍🏻
I will say “it’s really good- or I was really hungry” a lot 🤣🤣
Its good to see you and your dad spending time together precious time.

Is that man really his dad? Looks like best friends ❤
Lucky men to have such a great relationship.
I love how authentic you are. Please stay true to yourself no matter what happens in life.
I appreciate that the dad always watches and waits to see if he is gonna die before he is willing to take a bite.
"They nailed it, perfect, tastes like home" Love how it takes the finest lobster to match your regular. 😅
Honestly all fish is like this, I come from a small fishing community on the east coast of Canada and moved inland to the west for work. Nothing tastes like the fresh fish from home but some places do make it alright, edible but you can tell it's nothing like back home
@@Golden31Eagle We never realize how spoiled we are until we move away from the coast. My father was a cape cod shellfisherman, we never paid for shellfish since everybody knew everybody..... and nothing ever compared to it.
@@danmanning4129 You guys are so lucky, I hate u
@@Golden31Eagle whatever your home town gets really right, you always miss after leaving. Mine will forever be pizza and bagels. I'm sure you can guess where I grew up lol
My husband is a SCUBA diver here in New Jersey. We, too, have “Maine” lobster. They would dive a shipwreck, catch some lobsters and/or scallops. It didn’t matter when he got back in, it could’ve been 2 :00 am, my mother in law would get up and cook up the lobster and feast on super fresh lobster.
We also went to a wedding of one of the dive boat captains. Surf and turf was on the menu and the surf, a.k.a. the lobsters, were caught by the dive captain and his buddies for the reception.
As a Mainer who doesn't like lobster, this channel makes me so happy. I will never partake in your wares, but your commitment to sustainable fishing and personality won me over. Please never stop making these videos.
If you like Dutch food, I'll swap house with you! 😜 would love to visit maine some day and try the local cuisine 🤗👌
It's nice to see YOU getting a snack and going back home for a change ❤ 😂

@@Louthefunnyguy Young man, you give Quentin Tarantino vibes, just a little
What a fun video!! So happy your dad could come with you!!
As a miami resident this was cool.
These are honestly the best memories.
I wish I could've taken my dad to a fancy place like Hells Kitchen before he passed.
As a New Englander, I’ve tried explaining to my inland friends that for us lobster is ‘special’ but not necessarily ‘fancy’. It is a little expensive so it’s a special occasion affair, but it’s much better eaten at a family cookout making a big mess than at a nice restaurant
The market Basket $6/lb who steamed lobster is my favorite summer food
I feel like lobster is to people who live on the coast what steak is to people who live on the plains, because how you described it is exactly how i would describe steak
yet another way that lobster in Maine is similar to crawfish in Louisiana
Omg I love you having your dad along for this experience! Seems like yall have a really great relationship and that's so awesome. This was a super fun video idea, keep up the great work!
You had me at two lobster fisherman on a ferris wheel. Wholesome channel, thanks!
😂
That taco looked incredible
It was awesome!!
Would like to know what was included on the lobster taco. I love a fish taco ( sword/ grilled with cabbage or coleslaw. ( i know cabbage is slaw but in my opinion cabbage is dry and slaw has mayo ( dukes) and a few other things.
@@jacobknowles5421you’ll have to try making the 🦞tacos at home in your next “catch ‘n cook” video. 😁
I'd say the lobster at Klaw was boat to table in under 36 hours. Those straight van trucks with the sleeper cabs hustle on the highway.
Great video.
Idk about you guys but Jacob inspires me to create content the man is so pure and humble.
Jacob If you somehow read this thanks man I recently watched some of your vids with my Father and it was one of the first times we've been able to chill and talk like normal humans in years and he is a vice president of a construction company and I'm a college dropout working in kitchens. Anyways, Thanks man.
I have a feeling that 'Gordon Ramsey' is gonna be reaching out to Jacob and his Dad for a good ole' lobster cookout in Maine. I love this show!!
Yeah somebody needs to get Gordon Ramsay this video so that they can collaborate and do a butter poached lobster together!!
Who is Jason?
@@user-nt4kc5ot7h Thx and corrected.
Gordon needs to go out on the boat as the stern man and help catch the lobsters that he will then cook that night for Jacob and the entire family.
Hey, Red Lobster, a real Maine Lobsterman saying, "The texture is different than I am used to." is the equivalent of Grandma from Alabama saying, "Bless your heart." when she drinks terrible sweet tea.
They broil lobster for twin tails, not steamed. It is a different texture.
@@shainazion4073 it is not a good restaurant and it isn't good lobster.
@@bvincesf I ran a seafood restaurant for years. I never said it was a good restaurant. But twin tails are broiled, not steamed which will give the lobster a very different texture no matter what restaurant cooks it!!
Lol. True Southern saying, but it's more like, forgive her folks, she don't know any better, meaning she may not have been raised Southern.
I was told that “Bless your heart” is polite southern for “fuck you”. I guess context matters
Jacob, as a fellow Mainer, just wanted to tell you how much we love you! I think there's a lot of people who really don't know much at all about Maine. You represent our beautiful State very well. I'm so proud of your achievements. You deserve only the BEST of everything. It was great to "meet" your dad, too!
Love your show. Just wish when handing your dad the food you would have said “let’s give him a snack”. Lol. This was fun to watch.
😂😂😂😂 nice!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂best comment!❤😂😂😂😂
Oh my god, that would have killed me😂😂😂
You guys are killing it with these on-the-road videos. They're very well made and engaging from start to finish, I'm enjoying the hell out of them. Thanks for all the time and effort!
Jacob I worked for Red Lobster back in the early 90s and most lobsters are cooked in a shallow pan with water and then baked in an pizza oven at 550 till done. Guest may request the tails be steamed but most are cooked in the manner I spoke about. Absolutely enjoy your channel and stay safe out there with your crew , fair winds and calm sea's sir.
Thank ya for bringing us along. Beautiful family bro. Safe travels🙏❤️🫡
Omg I can't even with your dad. He kills me. Such a cutie! Love your content, Jacob; thank you for sharing this life and giving those of us who'd never known otherwise a glimpse into the life!

That lobster roll looked delicious! And being recognised so far from home was also fun to see! Nicely done!
Lukes Lobster roll looked the most appetizing to me, by far. And that kid was a total gem.
Somehow I didn’t even think about Red Lobster, but it’s cool that y’all stopped there while you were in Miami! The taco and lobster roll looked delicious!
Loved the video. It's way different from your usual, but I feel like it was true to the spirit of your content. Awesome job, and I'd love to see another one like this, at some point. 👍👍

Mainer here. I ❤️ lobster, have had the benefit and pleasure of eating Maine lobster all of my life. Unfortunately, i developed an allergy to shellfish about 5 years ago, and now have to enjoy watching people eat it. Man, I miss lobster!
That would be hell for me.
You can develop an allergy?
@@tlts4evaHappens to allot of people for dairy, gluten, nuts and hell happened to me with deodorant of all things 😅 regardless it can just happen with certain things including shellfish
Thank you, Dad, for coming along. You warmed the heart of this Texan. You know your Lobster, and aren't afraid to call a dud a dud.
For Tacos at home, you might have to order the Corn Tortillas, or just use flour tortillas or pita bread. The Seasoning for TexMex food is chili powder or chipoltle [smoked jalapeno], cumin and cilantro or ground corriander. No, subbing smoked paprica won't work. Go heavier on the Cumin than the chili powder and corriander/cilantro. The cilantro is optional since there is a genetic anomaly that makes cilantro taste like soap. Oh, the leaves are cilantro, the ground seeds are corriander.
The pico de gallo is: Fresh chopped tomato, chopped onion, fresh chopped peppers [to your heat tolerance from bell, to anahiem, to jalapeno], all coated in lime juice. Oh, NO mayo. Salt and pepper to taste. You could take the tacos with you on the boat, just store the pico de gallo separately that you add before you eat.
Personally, I've had a lot of tacos in my day, since I'm older than your dad. I thought the lobster taco had too much pico de gallo... that just made your taco sloppy and mushy; as you noticed: you couldn't taste the lobster. In any dish, the star of the show should shine, not be hidden behind the extras.
Oh, Red Lobster is horrible. Everything they cook is loaded with MSG. No, the Spiny Lobster is a glorified shrimp compared to your Cadillac Maine Lobster. The same is true for South American Rock Lobster, which Red Lobster has served. Red Lobster doesnt steam; they put everything through ovens. They used to keep a tank of live lobsters and steam those when chosen, but what few restaurants are left in Texas, stopped that quite a few years ago.
Glad you found a Good Lobster Roll in Miami, and thanks for supporting small business. That is why that shop is one of the best: they know what it's supposed to taste like, but that is radically different from the local cuisine.
Cooking risotto is a little labor intensive, but nothing you can't handle. You stand there and stir for 20 minutes; adding a little broth now and again, to replace what the pasta absorbs. Dump some Old Bay into it, with a little home made Sea Food Stock, and you'll be pleased. Oh, you do need actual Risotto pasta for the best results. If you try plain pasta, it will go to mush; why yes Texans are not afraid to break the rules in a pinch and admit when they failed.
And now you know: Expensive Lobster, outside of Maine, just means fresh and cooked like you do at home. Land Locked Texans can't get that down here. We had one vacation to Maine, and everything we tried was amazing. We even liked the joke that every small business sells lobster. JoeSchmoes Tire Repair... and lobster. Aunt May's Pie Shop... and lobster. We had a life long Mainer as our guide, so he knew where to go and what to do. We just didn't have enough time to do very much.
Thank you, gentlemen, for a wonderful trip to share.
So odd seeing him on land with regular clothes
Being recognized in Luke's must feel incredible. Your influence has reached so far and so wide
570 dollars to replicate something us New Englanders can assemble after a day on the water
Except the king crab... we dont have that

That is so amazing to see. Lots of fun and food.
I have no clue how I got you on my metrics on you tube, but I’m happy I did. Having had lived in Maine for 15 years, now happily living in Chattanooga Tennessee; I love learning about lobstering. Maine lobster is the best.
I love lobster. I love macaroni and cheese, and I love a good grilled cheese. But there’s some things that just shouldn’t be mixed.
There is such a thing as a good lobster Mac and cheese. That wasn't it. My brother made an excellent one. Besides they noted that the lobster had an aroma they obviously didn't expect - don't eat that!
I’ll have to try for myself. Tuna melts are delicious. Grilled cheese with bacon is delicious. Grilled cheese with tomato is delicious! I’ll try my version with lobster next time I have lobster. Just gotta decide which type of cheese.
@@tanikokishimoto1604 I make a very delicious Mac and cheese, but the other day I got carried away and blended in a few of my leftover cheeses. There was a bit too much cheese in there. Once made it was then put into a baking dish and topped with even more cheese and baked. It was o.k. the day it was made, but impossible to enjoy a couple of days later. The blend of cheeses was awful. I ended up dumping it. With the prices of good cheese it was a costly waste .
I love your og posts, your lobster spa vids, but I'm loving these new vids of your life while on land. It's fun to see a simple man, with a camera, become a worldwide sensation. Keep being you, and we'll continue to be fans

I lived in Utah for 10 years. I worked for a local grocery chain, Dan's Foods. Being a from New England I know fresh, live Maine Lobsters 🦞. I would berate our fish monger when he would offer "Fresh Live Maine Lobsters" for sale. I kindly explained their was nothing FRESH about his Maine Lobsters. So many hours on the lobster boat, then to packing, to the shipper, to the airport, on a plane then to a distributor to a local grocery store. The sign soon changed to "Maine Lobster" sale😊😅😂
Do they drop in quality over time after they're caught even if they're still alive?
@@feistsorcerer2251 Well, they ain't fresh because fresh live Maine lobster is freh off the boat at the dock. Not setting on the dock for several hours, then packed in a reefer truck to the air port, then sitting around to br loaded in the plane, then flown 5,6,7 or more hours to wait to get off loaded then to tge distribution center.......yada yada yada
I bet you're the kind of guy that thinks it's not a fresh steak unless you stick your head up a bull's ass. 😆 If it's alive, shipped across the country in a day, that's pretty fresh for Utah considering it's a 16 hour drive to get to the nearest ocean.

When I tell you I absolutely LOVE crab legs and lobster and could probably live off them I mean it 😂but I don’t get to eat them much so I’m not about to waste it and put it In other foods. Don’t get me wrong I would love to try lobster rolls, tacos and all the other stuff it’s in but when I get to eat lobster and crab which is not often I want just the lobster and crab meat 😂😂also I have always loved crab 🦀 more than lobster but that’s bc I’ve eaten a lot more crab than lobster but I love lobster too if it’s cooked right 😅. I love how the lobster fisherman haven't had lobster in such presentations yet a lot of us lay people have had almost all of them
Well that's a WHOLE lot spent on lobster! I figured the cook at Red Lobster would screw up cooking it. They usually overcook it on lobster. I've been to many Red Lobsters around the US.
As for having Maine lobster thousands of miles away. Lobster travels really well in the first 24 hours...so as long as you prep it and eat it within that timeframe...it should be almost as good as those caught on the boat. Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, CA flies in lots of Maine lobster daily, and man do they do it up right!
I am NOT a fan of Gordon Ramsay (the person). No doubt his food is awesome or people wouldn't say it is. $50 for 4 oz of lobster in risotto. Hard pass. Especially when there is a Luke's or Cousin's Maine Lobster in town. Cool reviews there Jacob and your Dad! Loved the ride in the glass ferris wheel...for a person afraid of heights. Haha.
Excellent video! Thank you very much. You, your Dad are wonderful real people!
