Hey Jacob, come down to Southern California to try lobster hooping here! Spiny lobster. The season is usually mid October to end of March. There’s trips that just do lobster hooping at night or a fishing and lobster combo trip at Catalina for pretty much full day.
Ive only ever heard of bananas being bad luck on a boat when i lived down in Florida. We often keep a can of Spam as an amulet of luck to ward off bad storms and hurricanes. Its just Florida being Florida i guess.
Hearing Jacob keep saying "ours" and "yours" made me think of the Pilot of the Sopranos when Chrissie and that Czech mobster were talking about sausages in the back of Sal's. Glad it went better for everyone here than it did for Emil.
I enjoyed this video very much as I lived in the Florida Keys for 10 years. I had a 25 1/2 foot sportfisherman boat that I used for scuba diving, fishing, cruising, and full moon watch parties. It was the most fun I have ever had in my life. My friends and I dived for lobsters, and I occasionally went out with a friend to help him pull his traps. I've had main lobster, and it is delicious, but I really like Florida lobster. I hope to get back to the Florida Keys to live, and this episode made me really homesick. But I enjoyed it thoroughly.

As a person who’s health has taken an unexpected 180 I have to live my life vicariously through channels like yours. Thanks for taking me to Florida. I did love the crab down there. I miss traveling.
The airport and airline know about your delay. If it's not 2 hours, most airlines wait if you touch down when your connecting flight is boarding ...at some airports, they have golf carts waiting to take you to your next gate. I'm used to European airports, but I'm sure in the US they do this on some occasions.
Go out in a canoe from Conakry, Guinea, to Îles de Los, a set of three islands just off the coast. There are hotels and restaurants on these relatively unpopulated islands. When you order fish for lunch, the fisherman gets in his canoe, catches the fish, then they cook it. Such a memorable experience. (And it’s rumored that Roum Beach was the inspiration for the story of Treasure Island.)
I love Islamorada, I snorkeled there my first time. So excited you and your Dad got to do that together. I hope you got a chance to enjoy other things there too. 🦀
My old fishin' buddy worked on a stone crab boat and he had some interesting stuff happen. Once he almost lost a finger from being pinched and handling dead mullet for bait. His finger was so swollen I thought the skin would rip. But they caught lobsters too, two kinds. The spiny lobsters like you caught in the video were fairly common. The other kind is the slipper lobster, and they're more rare. They don't have long antenna and they're very strange looking. And they're easier to keep because of looser laws. They taste good too. Sorry, you have a new mission. You'll have to go back to FL and catch some slipper lobsters. Here's my tip, go diving or snorkeling and look in holes, they're upside down hanging a lot of the time. There are also bigass spider crabs in the keys that people eat, but you have to dive for them. Slippers get in traps and you can grab them really easily if you swim for them, much easier than spinies from what my friend said. Edit, I would love a video of your dad telling all those stories, maybe a series of videos.

I agree that you can't beat a well cooked fresh batch of stone crab claws! Dee-Lish!!! And Yep, fresh Florida Lobster ain't no slouch either! haha.
I'd honestly say driving the tesla might legit be the most dangerous work related hazard Jacob has faced on this channel so far, lol.
Nearly 100 people incinerated 😳 you won't catch me in one.
Lmfao ok there
I love the fact that Jacob just started by putting up a video about a lobster he caught, and now we're here
Ty 4 taking us on your adventure. DAD really makes it special
❤❤❤❤❤
Fish: like HELL you're using me for crab bait!!! 😂 😅 😂
That fish used ultra instinct to escape its fate!
Thanks for another great vid, Jacob. I really enjoyed taking this trip with you all. Love the keys!
Jacob ! You were way more polite than I would have been ! I hate warm water lobsters with a passion 😂 they don't compare to cold water lobsters at all !!! If I was given a choice between the two I would take the Maine lobsters and pay quadruple for the Maine lobsters without a doubt 😂😂😂
Fact. I’ve had both and north lobsters are simply the best!! 🦞
you and the guy replying are really getting to me forget which tastes best, I live in the UK and have had lobster once (frozen, about 1,lb- it was expensive and was like bubble gum but with a nasty flavour after my second bite I gave it to my neighbours pets an they seemed to enjoy it but dogs will eat their own poop so that doesn't say much, I would love to have freshly caught lobster cooked properly and experience the real thing 👍
Maybe that's why I don't like lobster, I didn't realize I was only offered the warm water variety. Must see if I can try a Maine lobster
The pig feet thing is hilarious 😂 This was an interesting video. Thanks for having Jakob Jessie!!
Cool video. Nice trip. Good to meet your Dad. Thanks to Jessie for allowing you to video the whole thing 👍
As a fellow maine lobsterman, it was cool to see how they do it down in Florida. Funny enough, ive always heard of the pig thing but never have i actually fished witha captain that lived by it.
I’m from Florida and I love your ME lobster vids and going there myself. This video reminded me how much I take for granted our local fisheries and seafood…it brought me joy to see how much you enjoyed everything about our local lobster and stone crabs!
Your Dad is so stinking cute! Y’all’s smiles are priceless ❤
Hey Jacob, come down to Southern California to try lobster hooping here! Spiny lobster. The season is usually mid October to end of March. There’s trips that just do lobster hooping at night or a fishing and lobster combo trip at Catalina for pretty much full day.
The Blair Witch style of filming at the airport was amazing 😂😂😂
Ive only ever heard of bananas being bad luck on a boat when i lived down in Florida.
We often keep a can of Spam as an amulet of luck to ward off bad storms and hurricanes.
Its just Florida being Florida i guess.
Jacob we absolutely love to see your pop's in the video. He is so AWESOME! I enjoyed this one thoroughly!
Hearing Jacob keep saying "ours" and "yours" made me think of the Pilot of the Sopranos when Chrissie and that Czech mobster were talking about sausages in the back of Sal's. Glad it went better for everyone here than it did for Emil.
Omg your channel has almost one BILLION views now! That's insane! I'm proud of you bro, keep up the amazing work and spirit!!
I'm just glad your Dad made it.
I can't imagine having to tell everyone, pig's feet did him in!
Also was I worried about your eyes, for no reason, around those lobsters? They look like they could give you 0/0 vision?
On their backs, they really give that Alien/Thing movie vibe.😂
Thanks Jacob, and Friends.
Good to see you again. I loved your Dad's story about the pig fiasco. I am sorry about his buddy's loss. Those florida lobsters have lovely colors. Thanks for sharing youor adventure.
I just love this channel
If I was a younger man I’d move to Maine and ask for a job
Wow! What a fun trip. I love how you compared them to the ones you caught back home. Very good video. Love your videos.
Jacob !My hero.Stuck in hospital ,peed off and I find this......thank YOU"
That sucks good luck bro
Honestly your dad is so wholesome, even tho there's curly tail animal legs as bait he still comes with you.
Ur dad is awesome dude, I lost mine when i was 11 years old. Cherish these moments.
Those lobsters oink. Like those pink trotters. Really enjoying your vacation and or work time in Florida. Learning something new. Thank you for sharing your hard work and time...really appreciate it.
Awesome- you were here, great video! I've been diving and snorkeling, especially Pennekamp but never fishing like this! 😄
Love that your dad came with you, hi from the UK👋
A great fishing trip. Great to see your dad join you on your trip. He must be retired from fishing by now. Interesting to see the differences in lobster from maine, Nova Scotia area to Florida.
Great video! So many things to compare from the lobster traps to the crabs and lobsters. I really enjoyed learning from today's video. Plus, it was really entertaining.
@Jacob you have to come to the Pacific Northwest and try our crab, specifically the Puget Sound King Crab, and the Pacific Rock Crab.
There’s king crab in the puget sound?!
@@stingray4540 its scientific name is the Box Crab, but it is known as the Puget Sound King Crab to most Americans
@@KrazyMitchAdventures oh, ok. I was thinking Alaskan king crab. Even so, I guess I never noticed any other crabs besides rock and dungeness in the regs, then again I wasn’t looking either.
@@stingray4540 the box crab IMO the meat is on par with Lobster, it is firm, tender, and tastes amazing. I've never been to Alaska, and have never had fresh Alaskan King crab.
Me and my 3 year old son love your videos! My son now wants to go catch lobsters and crabs! Thanks for always keeping your videos family friendly! Keep up the good work!
What a difference in the calmness of the water there
Sailors often tattoo pigs and roosters for GOOD luck. Back in the day they transported those animals in crates, when the ships shanks the crates would float and give the sailors something to float on.
That's great, now have your southern friend come up to Maine!!!!!!!
This guy and deer meat for dinner would make a dope colab
Your dad has the cutest accent !!!❤❤❤
Great video!! So good to see a new video. I’ve missed seeing them.
Your dad is adorable!! I was proud of him getting on the boat. His accent is great!!
It amazes me how different the lobsters look in Florida and Maine.
It makes me want to get some seafood. Unfortunately I’m in Ohio, so I have to buy frozen. 💛
Nothing from the Great Lakes?
@@capesquirt I’m in the furthest southern part of Ohio, a VERY small town so I’ve not seen fresh here
My great grandfather was a Mississippi River commercial fisherman. I cannot imagine that being a thing now. I love seeing you and your dad share some quality time lobstering.
Love you guys. So glad your Dad went with you too. Happy you had such a good day 😊
Love this! I grew up fishing with my dad and seeing the two of you out there together having a great time brings back those memories.
Now you're in my neck of the woods! In Tampa now, but spent 20 years down there with my flat boat and sailboat. Lots of lobster. And I lived next to Joe's Stone Crab for a lot of those years. Good to see you guys on the home turf
This was fun!
Thanks for sharing your Florida experience with us. 👍🏼
Do they notch their female's tails in Florida too?
Lol it's florida, they don't give much of a shit
That was 100 percent the most sarcastic "Ain't this a beauty" Ive ever heard.
That was cool! Loved the taste tests and seeing how wildly different looking those lobsters are.
Love this episode! Welcome to my home state. If you have time to fish...try getting a guide to fish for Peacock Bass in Miami! Down here dont bring bananas on a boat!
Nice! Man your dad seems legit, I bet he has some great stories
Love how Jesse foreshowed the stone claw being the real highlight. His reaction to wanting to keep the lobster was pretty funny as well 😅
Thank you 🦞🦞🦞🦞
I’m used to northern lobster 🦞 and first time I ate lobster in Mexico, it wasn’t my favourite to be polite. I’ve tried three different times and it was… totally different. But I had a giant crab and it was fantastic. I love that fishing game. You guys make my day every time.
You need to come out to Oregon to do some Dungeness crabbing and small scale, commercial fishing.
Maybe that sweet pink curly tailed farm animal bait infusion used makes that sweet ocean bottom feeder claw creature taste so good?
I love Islamorada, I snorkeled there my first time. So excited you and your Dad got to do that together. I hope you got a chance to enjoy other things there too. 🦀
That was pretty cool! Trying out a different fishery and what they do.
Spot on about the stone crab being the best. No question about Maine lobster being the best as well
They all generally taste pretty good 😊....For some reason, they taste like lobster 🦞😂
Good for your dad. Bless his heart. I love him
These videos are so relaxing. It was cool watching you branch out, especially with your dad in tow :)
That little tracing for pulling into the traps you should get one of them on your boat
Nothing beats Maine lobster. I haven't tried stone crab claws but I'm going to look for them and give them a try. Fantastic video!
