    Wow. Every single video on this channel has taught me at least one thing I didn't know about discs.

    Dang, you people always put disc golf into such easy to understand lessons. I can't conceive how you always teach a lesson better then the 100 other lesson videos out there, but it makes more sense the ways you put it. Thank you so much, really always looking for that extra edge in my game, your info is CLEARLY helping. Please keep up the great work.

    I followed your advice-- I still use a Valkyrie for backhand, but switched to Firebird for forehand. Makes a big difference, thanks.

    I wish I would have seen these videos about 10 years ago. What a tremendous resource! Next, can you do a video on "How to not over-think every disc golf shot?" LOL. I'll be looking at my bag for five minutes now trying to remember all the science to pick the right disc! Seriously tho, you guys rock. Thanks for this.

      the first immediate line you see is your best shot, don't change discs after you pull your first immediate choice from your bag lol

    Love the "thought through" way of explaining things. Could you consider a video on recogising the changes with a developing arm? Same disc different flight and therefore different applications.

    This channel is so good, and has helped my understanding of this amazing sport tremendously. There is just something about he way the information is presented and broken down that just clicks with me personally. My only complaint is they are just to short!! Thanks for the awesome content!

      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks MTG Guitfeeder! We do try to keep them under 6 minutes to make sure we stay tightly focused on the main topic. It's REALLY easy have a video unintentionally stretch to +20 minutes by going off on several 3-4 minute long tangents!

    So I purchased the innova beginner 3 disc set.(just getting I to this and really enjoy it) I prefer to throw forehand on long drives. The fairway driver is 149 gram and it always flips completely over, always goes straight and lands just right at 200' what am I possibly doing wrong? Thanks to anyone with suggestions.

  • @chrisjackson1266
    @chrisjackson1266 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Correcting throwing motion flaws to achieve a cleaner release would go a long way towards reducing OAT in FH shots, would it not?

    • @Bestdiscgolfdiscs
      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, absolutely! Our intention is to teach players about the science of the sport, but our advice is never intended to replace practice!

    • @chrisjackson1266
      @chrisjackson1266 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best Disc Golf Discs That makes sense. Years ago I read that turning over FH shots is a result of a poor release and that selecting wide rimmed overstable discs masks flaws in technique and release.
      I appreciate the content. It helps simplify my thoughts during my practice.

    • @badandylaoc
      @badandylaoc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Jackson it's true he doesn't mention that another option to correct OAT (wobble) would be simply to work on cleaning up the release. Otherwise this video is incredibly helpful!

    Hey everyone, I need help! My forehand game is less than weak. I’ve been playing for about 3 years now. I live in northern MI so I only get to play a few months a year. I’m 6’7 and can throw a RHBH a mile. No issue with my driving. But this damn frustrating forehand has me looking bad...I’m talking max distance of 150-170ft. I’ve watched so many videos on technique and whatnot. I’ve thrown SO many forearm shots practicing over the years. It’s what I work the most on. You’d never guess I’ve ever threw a forearm if you saw me throw. Any tips or techniques I could try? I’m at my wits end guys.. thanks for any feedback

    WHAT ARE SOME GOOD DISCS FOR FOREHAND THROWS WITH BEGINNERS? any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • @Pohinapaja
    @Pohinapaja 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    with what disc was the 57 mph = 300 feet of distance calculated with? because I know I barely throw that hard, but I still get my wraiths to 350

    • @Bestdiscgolfdiscs
      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry if that wasn't clear! It wasn't calculated with a specific disc, it was the mean average from many different players using their own preferred discs. As to variability (like your personal data), individual results varied significantly two or three standard deviations from the mean, but the distribution of values was a pretty normal bell curve.

    Great video! I am familiar with the Pozzy article on disc speed, and I don't believe it includes data on ram's. Do you mind sourcing your spin data?

    • @Bestdiscgolfdiscs
      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Erin Hemmings The RPM data had to be consolidated/extrapolated from a few different sources using different methods to capture/count rotations (not Pozzy, as you said -- his study did not include spin).

  • @smeago
    @smeago 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Where did you get the "data" about forehand release velocity and rpm ?

    • @Bestdiscgolfdiscs
      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Mikko, the primary data source was a 2000 study conducted by Theo Pozzy at a distance driving contest.

  • @Chris.Davies
    @Chris.Davies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Terrific video as always, except that 95% of the world do not understand deprecated and ancient forms of measurement.
    1:53 - 40 to 70 mph is 75 to 112 km/h.
    1 gram = 70 centimetres of extra distance.
    20 grams equates to 14+ metres of distance.
    2:38 - 57 mph = 91 km/h, and 62 mph = 100 km/h

  • @MK212074
    @MK212074 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the problem with this video is that it is teaching you to correct your bad forehand form by throwing higher speed and more OS stuff rather than learning to release the disc cleanly. that's a major nope in disc golf

    • @Bestdiscgolfdiscs
      @Bestdiscgolfdiscs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow! I hope that no one thinks our videos are intended to replace practice, or mask mechanics problems! Our goal is always simply to explain which discs provide the best performance, and why. Think of this one more as answering "Which discs should I use in competitive play, when I want to win?"

    • @dalcowboiz
      @dalcowboiz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bestdiscgolfdiscs Do you think it is possible to throw a disc 300' with the same speed and spin both forehand and backhand? I can't tell if you are saying forehand has less spin than backhand or if it is just most people since they put OAT on the forehand. Like when Eagle McMahon throws a forehand it doesn't look like there is any OAT. Looks like he gets a clean release so I'd be interested to see the spin speed ratio on his forehand compared to backhand for the same distance and same disc.

  • @unclepizza72
    @unclepizza72 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure I believe this because I've seen a video where they thrown heavy discs and light discs and the light discs came out of the hand at a faster speed but did not go as far as the heavy discs

      We detailed most of the physics in this video in our previous video on disc weight here: th-cam.com/video/CvpdTf_FjjM/w-d-xo.html
      Also, the supporting website page has links to the data points and calculations on weight vs. velocity here: www.bestdiscgolfdiscs.com/choose-driver-weight/
