I think it just clicked. I’ve been arming it this whole time. I need to rotate lower body first! Thank you for sharing Josh’s critique. Might’ve just saved me shoulder surgery 10 years from now.
Just starting my disc golf journey. Played about 60 rounds in the first 3 months of playing. Going to start my off season grind for the first time and using the playlist as a guide!! Thanks man!! You’ve really gotten me into all this and I can’t thank you enough!!!
Setting up the hips like that was something I had not considered. I couldnt figure out why some days my throws felt so much more fluid and easier. It definitely has to do with activation of the hips and just general rotation of my body rather than just strong arming the disc. This was very informative for me, thank you.
While I'm no pro at dg, I am FH dominant and hold my own thanks to it. I was however a AAA baseball catcher that needed to relearn how to throw, from using forearm muscles to, even in a rush, depending on "long arming" the ball instead of short arming. Basically using your body more. He's right, you don't want tendinitis from using your elbow too much. Haven't seen anyone else really do it, but I (RHFH) kind of cross/X step my right foot way left of my my pointer/left foot while going forward to absolutely make my body rotate rearwards and coil/release for not only extra power but making sure you aren't using your arm too much.
“Shadow swinging” really helped my backhand. Took the time to do it often and I pretty quickly saw an improvement and consistency with my timing. I would film it or do it in front of the mirror
Your vids have been inspiring me to get better so thank you for that. I was struggling to break 300ft just a couple weeks ago, but something clicked timing wise that allows me to keeps the nose down and now I'm pushing 375. ( not very accurately tho lol) Keep up the great content my guy! I will def be following your journey.
so much info without being too much... not to push back tech stuff on forehand but got excited that this cat wants to do next level, "qualify for tour card" and doing the work up front... the thing that caught me is the wisdom to be doing non-disc workout... this game, like most competitive sports, has a major attrition attribute - so many rounds in whatever weather, NOT sleeping in normal bed/environment in between rounds, et al... my, I am social level player so my opinion more from three decades of coaching D1 sport and then seeing it in my elder self, best rounds always second round - r1 gets me in disc golf mode, next day hitting lines/putts, next day shows fatigue physically and mentally
Best nets to buy are the cat-nets that people put on their balconies to keep pets from falling. Cheap AF, durable as all hell and usually large enough to string up pretty much anywhere. Mine is 3x4 meters and cost about $30.
I think looking at tutorials on baseball swing lower body mechanics and engaging the hips could really help for both forehand and backhand power from a lower body rotational mechanic perspective. There is a ton of material out there focusing on these mechanics that directly correlate to lower body disc golf mechanics that are taught at a high level that are more easily incorporated than anything i have found for discgolf.
A great man told me to compare my side arm shots to a pro short stop baseball player. This video seems like that same idea. Keep up the good work bud!!!
I currently use the same forehand grip that you used to use, and I have a difficult time maintaining the angle I want to throw on. Perhaps I should make a change as well.
Firstly, great video. Secondly, I recently started watching your videos and I think they're pretty good. Lastly, what kind of equipment are you filming with? (Camera, mic, editing software, etc.)
Nice job Anthony, very helpful. I have a lot of off-axis torque. Definitely have a lot more power than spin. When I try to cock my wrist more, I lose a lot of grip. Feels like this disc is slipping right out of my hand. Did you have this issue at all?
Form question! I noticed a seemingly big difference from the advice given here to the afvice of Ryan Sheldon. Whereas Overthrow recommends a 90 degree angle of the back foot for mobility, Ryan preaches forward facing feet and hip shoulder separation. So the movement is more a core coil/uncoil than hip-based. Any thoughts ? :)
Both Ryan and I are teaching hip shoulder separation. I also don’t think he is talking about a forward facing back foot during the load. In other words I think we are focusing on different parts of the throw and people think we are talking about the same moment

Except sidearm baseball pitcher follow through very differently because the spin is different. But for lower body and off arm I think this definitely is a good idea
This turned out great.
so good I might even try to hire a coach now...

Great instructional video. What was amazing was that after 193 close calls you never knocked the coffee over!

Awsome, thank you. I'm new (ish) at discgolf, this will help!
Sounds like when he was speaking of the hips and hip rotation, reminds me a lot of the baseball swing
Great video! Would be great if you publish your backhand breakdown by Overthrow.
Yeah - backhand vid would be sweet!
I see that Trash Panda sticker on your laptop! Lookin good

Great info. Love both of the channels. Looking forward to your next form progression vid!

Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Great video for everyone!
I still haven't started! Yes, I haven't done my putts today 😅 I'm sure you will, or make up for lost time 🔥
Visionary disc golf has a great net for disc golf!
I'm glad he's now teaching that your foot can face more forward than 90 because if you watch the Andrew marwede video he is in a different opinion
Firstly, great video. Secondly, I recently started watching your videos and I think they're pretty good. Lastly, what kind of equipment are you filming with? (Camera, mic, editing software, etc.)
definitely contact visionary disc golf, tell him Purdy sent ya ;)
Random disc golfer that totally isn't Eric: "IS THAT GOOD?"
If you decide on a net, I'd love to know which one you got, because I'm looking to get one too
Great tips!!

This is good bros.
anyonEO we know? man i love oakley sunglasses though. did u know my brother's name is eric?
Hey man, when I throw my forehand sometimes when I release it. The disc flairs up instead of going straight. What should I do?
You played with Eric Oakley at UWF!?!?!
Pink tutu for your first tournament

The concept is exactly the same as pitching. The only thing I had to learn was not to throw the disc but let the wrist snap the disc.
Can’t focus on anything but where that coffee is #spillanxiety
What camera do you use??
Who wouldn't recognize Eric's voice haha
Nice video! Also, tenets, not tenants :)
Awesome! My forehand is 💩
The 'Eric Oakley' 🤔
Forward energy, not rotational energy. That’s me! 🤦♂️
I'm curious what you do for a living?
I use light weight over stable for forehands to save on my elbow. 162-167 gram. Firebird destroyer or standstill roadrunner pyro

Don't you do nothing crazy like shave your head. Those of us who are follicularly challenged would be dismayed.
I think what every disc golfer should do is start to look at MLB sidearm pitchers to learn how to throw forehands.

Your wireless mic is absolutely horrible.
