- Today on MONOCHROME, we start a series of videos focusing on accessible luxury brand, Frederique Constant. Created 30 years ago by Peter and Aletta Stas, the brand has gained international recognition by manufacturing nice and elegant watches, with interesting complications and luxurious appeal, for a reasonable price. Frederique Constant is also now a proper manufacture, capable of producing its own in-house movements in its recently Geneva-based manufacture, ranging from time-only automatic watches, to the signature open-heart pieces or the ultra-complex but still accessible tourbillon perpetual calendar.
To start this series, we'll talk to founder and president of Frederique Constant, Mister Peter Stas, about the history of the brand and how his wife and he managed in such short time to create an influent Geneva-based brand.

Got here because it was LOVE at first sight when I saw some of their pieces last night. Glad to know they started the open heart design. Looking forward to own one of their pieces this year. :)

I love FC! I think their watches are beautiful! I also believe in a couple of decades we are gonna look back and think ‘why the hell didn’t I buy one when it was that price?!?!’
No one will think that, people have trash taste and like more mainstream brands. This brand is special.
Refreshingly humble in describing what they have achieved. I have purchased many watches from Rolex, Omega, Panerai amd seiko. I am Haiti await the arrival of my first FC in a few weeks.
Trust me you’ll love their stuff. I do not have big budget in getting those big name watches, yet, and accidentally found out about FC. Bought one, loving it and surely getting more from them.

Peter and Aletta Stas, many congratulations have created such elegant watches, with class, distinction, very beautiful models, it does not ask anything of high-end luxury watches, I just bought the quartz perpetual calendar, it is a great technology fused with the beauty at very reasonable prices, I do not bring a Patek Philippe, but I feel just as happy because I bring a Frederique Constant with high quality finishes, what I do notice is that marketing and advertising work is more lacking, there are not many videos of Frederique Constant on TH-cam, you make watches not for the money, but for the love of watchmaking art. 10/08/2022

I worry when fabulous companies like this are bought by industry giants, like they have, by Citizen.
Citizen bought FC in 2016, how would you judge they are doing? Better or not, compared to before the acquisition?
@@Monochrome-watches I guess it's down to each person to judge. I've got a feeling it's been beneficial for Citizen. As, since then they've done the Tsuyosa. Unfortunately Tissot might have liked FC silicon idea, little too much. I still think FC are fabulous. 😊
